Snowdon To Capture Queen’s Diamond Wedding Anniversary

Renowned photographer, The Earl of Snowdon, has reportedly been asked to take the portraits celebrating the 60th wedding anniversary of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh for a series of stamps.

77-year-old Snowdon, who was at one time married to the Queen’s sister, Princess Margaret, has been the photographer of choice for senior members of the Royal Family for some time, taking the official engagement portrait of Prince Charles and Diana, that later appeared on a stamp (pictured). It is understood that the Queen chose Snowdon from a list of four photographers that Royal Mail had submitted.

More recently, Snowdon took the official portrait celebrating the Queen’s 80th birthday.

The photographs will be featured on a set of commemorative stamps to be released for the Diamond wedding anniversary later in the year.

How wonderful that despite being divorced from the Late Princess Margaret, HM still seems fond of Lord Snowdon.

It’s a bit grim to say, but I kind of get the feeling this is ‘one final royal commission’ for Lord Snowdon. He has obviously produced beautiful portraits for the royals in the past and I’m sure that will also be the case this time.
