Britain’s Prince Harry has been named “the most eligible bachelor in the world” by Americans.

The prince joined his brother William in an interview on NBC’s popular chat show ‘Dateline’ last week and was hailed as a heartthrob after wowing the US public.

Almost 13 million viewers tuned in to watch Harry talk to host Matt Lauer about his mother, the late Princess Diana, and the concert he and William held on Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of her death.

The viewing figures were the highest NBC had recorded in over three years.

One viewer wrote on the network’s internet forum:

“Prince Harry has emerged from the shadow of his elder brother and is now one of the most eligible bachelors in the world. Sure he may be a bit of a rascal but he’s a welcome contrast to the tradition and formality of the rest of the royal family.”

Another fan wrote: “Harry is a honey! He looks much more rugged than his brother.”

In the interview, the 22-year-old royal talked about his life as a prince.

“You’ve got certain responsibilities. Which obviously we do and we know we have certain responsibilities. But within our private lives and within certain other parts of our life we want to be as normal as possible.
