Queen’s Diamond Wedding Anniversary Celebrations Begin

The Queen and Prince Philip began their diamond wedding anniversary celebrations last night at a party hosted by Prince Charles.

Around 20 of the Royal Family gathered for the dinner at the Prince of Wales’s home, Clarence House.

Charles, his wife the Duchess of Cornwall, and Princes William and Harry were among those toasting the couple’s 60-year milestone at the black-tie event.

Their celebrations will continue today, the day before their anniversary, with a thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey where they married on November 20, 1947.

Some 2,000 people including Gordon Brown, former premiers Baroness Thatcher and Sir John Major, clergy, military chiefs and the Queen’s godchildren, will attend.

None of the Royal Family’s German relations, nor Philip’s sisters who married Germans, were invited to the wedding in 1947 in keeping with national anti-German feeling.

But today some of the Duke’s distant German relatives will be present – his niece Grand Duchess Princess Margarita of Baden has been invited along with the Margrave and Margravine of Baden, and Prince and Princess Ludwig of Baden.

Around 500 Royal Household staff, past and present, will attend. Representatives from the Royal Yacht Britannia, the Royal Train and the Royal Squadron will join the congregation together with the Aga Khan, Sir David Attenborough and the former King Constantine of Greece.

Ten couples who married on the same day are guests, too. Two – Barbara and Norman Moon, both 78, from Calverton, Nottingham – said: “It’s a once in a lifetime.” (via Daily Express)

I love the family pics!!! Looks like they are problem-free family. *lol*
I wish to see this kind of harmonious pic more often :)

By the way, why do they keep shutting out Lady Louise Windsor? Edward/Sophie should have carried that little lady to be included in the pic…

I just realise that Autumn is included in the pic :)
And yea, I like seeing Eugene again. News about her is very rare. She’s still protected from the spotlight, I guess? I don’t know why, I just like her looks better than Bea. *lol* Sorry, Bea.

how precious - nala iis on first name terms with “autumn”. Get a life -
Who do you think is paying for these celebrations, and why do the british still continue to encourage this worship of these inbred parasites. They are no better than the lowest class (I think the discrimination of classes has a number of divisons- but here in Canada we do not have a different level or eacch so pardon my french) Are you pople all stupid ?? thnak God Autumn Kelly is going to freshen up the bloodlines a little - these royals are all starting to look a bit stale! Hope she gets well paid for it when it’s over - I can’t imagine someone with a brain in her head being amused by this lifestyle for too long - the fakeness, the emptyness, the greed and the discrimination!

Hey, what did I do? It’s just a comment of a rare photo shoot. I’m not a British and it’s up to me if I like to consume the news/pics of the Brit Royal Family. I’m not worshiping them. If you don’t like it, why do u visit this website anyway?

I think your comments step out of line Julie. Freshen up the blood line? How insulting can you be to the royals “starting to look stale?”

Sure they might not be your royals, but geeze maybe you should get a life.
