Zara Phillips’ boyfriend arrested for drink driving
England rugby star Mike Tindall, the boyfriend of the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips, has been arrested for drink-driving.
Police said they arrested a 29-year-old Gloucestershire man on the M4 near Newbury in Berkshire on Saturday morning - the day after the Cheltenham Racing Festival.
The man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and released on bail to return to a police station on April 29. Police would not confirm that it was Tindall who was arrested.
The player was seen the night before, drinking with Ms Phillips at a private party at Cheltenham, the Sun newspaper reported today.
He was not in the team for England’s Six Nations match against Ireland on Saturday afternoon after suffering a serious liver injury during his team’s clash with Grand Slam winners Wales.
He had been due to be a TV commentator at Twickenham and was thought to have been on his way there when he was stopped, the British Press Association reported.
A spokesman for his club, Gloucester Rugby, said: “We are aware of a police incident involving Mike Tindall on Saturday. Until the full facts have been established neither the player or the club will be making any further comment at this time.”

That’s the hardest part for being rich and famous to become a Princess’s boyfriend. Well it’s just too bad Mike drank too much alcohol and he got into trouble.

Poor Mike, he’s not had that much luck lately. The thing is people tend to forget that if you drink heavily the night before it’s not necessarily all out of your system the next morning. So that’s when people tend to get caught out. Hope all can be resolved as he doesn’t come across as a bad bloke at all.

Drunk drivers killed my nephew and his mother-in-law in the same accident. also, my next door neighbors daughter and her husband in another accident. I have no use for drunkenness. Get them off the road.

i doubt unruthlessly criticizing Mike will help anything. Driving drunk was wrong, he could have hurt himself and others.but what few of you understand is that just because he is dating a member of the royal family, does not make him infallible. Mike is human and humans do tend to make mistakes. I lost one of my best mates back in grammar school to a drunk driver, so i know the pain people feel. But I do believe that Mike WILL learn a lesson from this and will move on to become a better person.
