Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy in Cape Town

PHOTO - Prince Harry in South AfricaWhen he was serving in Afghanistan, Prince Harry was rarely seen without his favourite baseball cap on his head – at least during his off-duty moments.

And now he’s back on civvy street, he hasn’t forgotten that lucky headgear – he was pictured wearing it again on the streets of Cape Town last week.

The cap bears the American Stars and Stripes on the front, and the words “We Do Bad Things To Bad People” on the back – a slogan that prompted some debate about its suitability when he was fighting the Taliban.

But last week, as he strolled in the African sun with 22-year-old girlfriend Chelsy Davy, the ten weeks he spent on the front line in Helmand Province seemed a very long way away.

The couple – and Chelsy’s parents – are on holiday at the home of wealthy wine-grower Gerrit Thomas Ferreira, a friend of the Davy family who owns the Tokara Wine Estate, just outside Cape Town.

PHOTO - Chelsy Davy and her parentsAt the mansion they have canoes, a houseboat and swimming pool at their disposal. Last week, Chelsy – wearing a navy and white blouse, white mini-skirt and flip-flops – and Harry took a stroll through Cape Town.

Mr and Mrs Davy laughed and joked with the couple as they visited designer shops together. On another excursion, Chelsy and the 23-year-old Prince tried their luck at a seafront pitch-and-putt golf course.

Their behaviour clearly showed that their romance is back on course, following last year’s rumours that the relationship was floundering.

Harry, a second lieutenant with the Blues and Royals, is expected to return to service with the regiment soon, although military chiefs have expressed fears about the risks of deploying such a high-profile soldier in battle again. (via Daily Mail)

The editors do not feel that the Taliban are bad people?

Debate from whom ? violence upon violence, war to war, bad upon bad (we will find the terrorists wherever they are, sounds familiar )but thus the same medicine, which I think the “suitability” debate would come from the intelectuals.

Her parents aren’t black. They’re just really tanned as would be expected from people living in Africa.

To Edwin: Talibans are bad people. But to say “we do bad things to bad people” is not educating anyone.
That’s the propaganda all this time: fight war with war, fight bad things with bad things. Result to a never ending war.
I’m one of those who disagree to what’s written on the hat.

More than anything, I believe that the saying “we do bad things to bad people” is most likely an Army unit slogan. Most units in all the American Miltiary have one, and their usually not so nice. My husbands unit in the US Marines have a few ones that would make your jaw drop. So I wouldn’t read to much into it.

That’s why the latest poll on Bush ir around the bush. Sorry, couldn’t resit. But yes, maybe patriotism has them with slogans that make our/your jaw drop.

It would be really surprised if they were engaged.. I don’t think they are. I still think that the royal family have some problems to handle Chelsys zimbabwean background. Her fathers links with the Mugabe regime in Zimbabwe is still a big issue for them, don’t you think?..

Obviously the “We do bad things to bad people” slogan isnt aimed at that dreadful dictator, Mugabe, the man with so much blood on his hands. Pity

i heard mugbe got ousted.atleast harry is taking a stand on something .now how to get him to stop smoking.

  • Jess
    April 2nd, 2008 11:55

I think only Harry can stop himself from smoking. It takes alot more than people telling you not to do. It takes willpower and the determination to quit. Harry doesn’t seem to be in much of a hurry to quit at this minute in time. Plus the DM isn’t going to stop him. I personally think he doesn’t give two hoots what the press think of him.
