A statement by Prince William and Prince Harry
7th April - Clarence House
We should like to thank the members of the Jury at the Inquests into the deaths of our mother and Dodi Al Fayed for the thorough way in which they have considered the evidence. We agree with their verdicts, and are both hugely grateful to each and every one of them for the forbearance they have shown in accepting such significant disruption to their lives over the past six months.
Both of us are much indebted to the Coroner, Lord Justice Scott Baker, for his unfailing courtesy, and for all the consideration shown by him and his staff not only to us but to all those involved in this hearing.
We are particularly grateful to Trevor Rees, and to others who came forward to give evidence – in many cases reawakening their painful and personal memories.
Finally, the two of us would like to express our most profound gratitude to all those who fought so desperately to save our mother’s life on that tragic night.

It’s such a sad story how Diana and Dodi died.
It must be hard for William and Harry to go to court and testify what happend to Diana and Dodi.

I really liked the statement, it sound more written by the boys then by Clarence House PR.
Al Fayed go home, he wants to appeal the verdict I read, maybe back to Egypt.

The only reason the inquests go on and on into Diana’s death is because Mohammed al-Fayed refuses to accept the fact that his bodyguard was driving drunk and dangerously and the paps were acting crazy that night by chasing them. Plus, sadly, Diana was not wearing her seatbelt and neither were Dodi and Henri Paul. That could have saved them, especially Diana was bouncing all around in that car, which helped cause massive internal trauma and bleeding. Trevor Rees is the only one who wore a seatbelt and even with all his potentially fatal injuries, he survived.
Mr. al-Fayed, let your son, Diana and Henri Paul rest in peace. Your actions have tormented William and Harry for too many years.

I wish Diana were still alive today if the accident didn’t happen to her it would make the boys happy.

PS Some four and- a-half hours after the Diana inquest returned its verdict, Clarence House issued a statement from Princes William and Harry.
In it, they thanked the jury and the coroner and paid tribute to former bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones for his evidence.
What was puzzling was why it took so long for their comments to come out, for it was hardly a surprise that the inquest was reaching its end.
I understand the statement was watered down under pressure from Buckingham Palace officials.
“The boys wanted to show more firmly that they concurred with the verdicts,” I am told. “But this was edited out because the Palace didn’t want to risk more attention just a day after Prince Philip came home from hospital.”
