It’s been a long time coming – but Prince Harry’s girlfriend Chelsy Davy has at last been invited to her first official Royal engagement.
The 22-year-old, who has watched from the sidelines as Kate Middleton has been welcomed at Royal functions while she has been excluded, has been invited to Peter Phillips’s wedding next month.
Chelsy was left off the original guest list when it was drawn up earlier this year. At the time, she and Harry had suffered a wobble in their relationship but now, following their reunion after the Prince returned safely from Afghanistan, there has been a rethink.
The invitation shows that Chelsy is now being welcomed into Royal circles.
But rather than accept with alacrity, Chelsy has yet to respond to the Royal invitation.
Buckingham Palace yesterday wouldn’t comment but one of her university friends in Leeds tells me: “Chels received the invite last week but she has yet to reply.
“At the moment, her focus is her work. This is a tough term and she’s studying very hard. She was really put out not to have been invited, not least because Kate got an invite.
“Chels doesn’t particularly like hanging out with the young Royal crowd – she far prefers relaxing with her friends – but she doesn’t like to be forgotten about.”
Chelsy certainly made her feelings clear in this area last year when Harry neglected to visit her at university.
The couple split up, with Chelsy complaining to friends that her Royal boyfriend needed to make more of an effort to spend time with her.
Now it seems Harry has learned his lesson. I can reveal the 23-year-old Prince made a secret trip to Leeds two weeks ago and according to sources, the two are very happy.
“They are very much back on,” I am told. “Harry came up to Leeds and it was all very hush-hush.
“They stayed at a mate’s house as there are always a load of photographers outside Chelsy’s place, so no one actually knew that Harry was in town.” (via Daily Mail)

Prince Harry’s girlfriend Chelsy Davey was in Cheltenham yesterday.The 22-year-old was spotted strolling down the Promenade in the early afternoon.
Dressed in Jeans and a calf-length white jacket the former Cheltenham College pupil she went in and out of the shops browsing.
Shop assistants in Coast, where she tried on a short black dress jacket with three quarter length sleeves, priced £95 didn’t recognise her immediately. Assistant manager Emma O’Shea said: “She looked quite smart and was with an older lady.

I agree that she would make a great edition to the Royals, but hope that she is sensible enough to wait a bit and make sure that they can survive “real” life in England. So far their relationship is based on numerous tropical holidays and only a couple of days in England. It’s easy to be romantic when the balmy breeze blows getnly through the palm fronds- not so easy when it’s an icy gale rustling plastic litter along the pavement.

I agree LisD. I believe that she is the “breath of fresh air” (sorry to use the cliche). She seems very independent however, which is not a bad thing but I hope that it will not count against her.
PH and CD seem very suited to each other. I doubt that there will be a marriage for a while but perhaps one day.

I don’t think the DM indeed has any inside knowledge about the invitation list. I guess we’ll read several more back and forth stories before the event. Probably some about William and Kate as well. It’s still almost a months to go.
I think either all boy- and girlfriends will be invited or neither of them.
The reactions are still strange to me though. If that story had been written about Kate we’d have dozen of posts claiming how she “manipulated” her b/f to get the invitation. And I agree if Chelsy was so opposed towards the royal way of life, she chose the wrong b/f. I’ll never understand why people consider it nagative when someone tries to adapt. What is wrong with wanting to fit in? The Rf doesn’t need a “breath of fresh air”, IMO. It needs hard-working, modest royals. Nothing more but nothing less either. And I actually think that Chelsy could be one, but I’m not sure that she wants to. If she’s serious about her law degree, I don’t see how that would fit into a future with Harry. A master’s deree won’t get her anywhere in “The Firm” and she won’t be allowed to work in that field when she’s married. Either she wants to make a career as a lawyer or she plans a future with Harry as a royal. She can’t have it both. And if she’s already planning a future with Harry, her law degree is nothing but a facade to make her look busy. Certainly wiser than appear not to do much like Kate, but not a real “career” either.
My opinion of Chelsy, formed mostly on what I’ve read, is that she seems to be a spoiled little rich girl. She hates England, drinks to much, smokes to much and parties to much. I’m not really sure what Harry sees in her beyond her pretty blond looks. She seems like the South African version of Paris Hilton. Maybe my opinion is wrong, but I don’t think she is all that much a “breath of fresh air” unless you like your air laden with second-hand cigarette smoke!
BRAD – Your post was kind of funny especially the comparison to Paris Hilton. But believe me, Chelsy is nowhere near as annoying or crude as Paris Hilton. Anyway, I think if she makes Harry happy and they truly love one another, that’s what’s most important. He smokes too and drinks way to much so maybe they both need to quit the ciggies and cut down on the boozing.
Okay I see it coming – now we’re going to start with the Chelsy bashing. Why are some of you so vindictive in your comments about Chelsy and Kate? What matters is if William and Harry love them, not if we like them. I think we need to lighten up a bit on both these girls, especially with Kate.
Were you perfect when you were in your 20′s – I certainly wasn’t and I’m still not perfect in my 40′s – we all have our flaws so don’t be so harsh and judgmental.
If Chelsy marries Harry she will be in the same position that Fergie was in while Kate(if she marries PW) will be in Diana’s position. Everytime PW and Kate have a child, PH will drop down one spot in the line for the throne. He will have to find something meaningful to do, just like Prince Andrew. Peter Phillips and Autumn will not have any royal titles, they will not do any royal duties or receive any money from the government. In other words they are private citizens. Chelsy just may need that law degree to help support herself. The royal family has cut back on the number of titles given out.
Sunday’s DAILY MAIL has a huge story that states the head of the RAF erupted into a rage when he learned what Prince William had done. Well, I guess heads are going to roll but I wonder why the head of the RAF had no idea what was going on. Sounds almost like the Bush administration.
