I think the Prince should be cautioned a bit but given the free-hand to enjoy his youth especially now that he is courting someone in the person of Kate. I am a great fan of their mother and its my joy to hear they both have a partner with whom by God’s grace would one day settle down with. AMEN.

    William’s Image Sags, Harry’s Soars

LONDON (AP) - Good prince, bad prince.
In recent years, the good prince has been William, the responsible, handsome, self-effacing heir to the throne. The bad prince has been carrot-topped, pot-smoking Harry, partying too hard and wearing Nazi gear on a boozy night out.

Then Harry went to war, and William started tooling around England in his Royal Air Force helicopter, bending military rules by dropping in — literally — at his girlfriend’s house and buzzing some of his illustrious family’s many properties.

Now it’s bad prince, good prince — at least for a while.

The AOL article also made 2 voting polls:

Which prince do you like better?
    I like them both 66%
    Harry 15%
    William 14%
    I don’t like either one 5%

Which girlfriend should marry her prince?
    Kate Middleton 44%
    Both 33%
    Neither 20%
    Chelsy Davy 3%

Well, the public knows and see that William is happy and now in a healthy relationship with a great person. The public will also have a pleasure of getting to know Kate more better when things become more offical. He used her backyard for practice and I’m sure he tried to impress her as well. I would have done the same thing for my girlfriend, if I had the chance. Some people didn’t like that William did that but not everyone going to like the things he do all the time.

Well - I certainly hope the British taxpayers aren’t going to have to pay for any of William’s foolish behavior between taking the Chinook (how stupid to have himself and his brother flying on that) and the little journey to Middleton Manor. What some people don’t realize is that the Royal Family needs to take into consideration how the British people perceive and judge the things they do. I’d hate to see an end to the Monarchy but I must agree there’s alot of foolish wastefulness that goes on in that family and alot of their expenses get footed by the taxpayers.

Well Jade Falzon, I have to agree with you on that. Although I don’t think the Monarchy will end no time in the future. Jenny, whatever.

I do agree they need to work on the wasteful spending. If you want to do those foolish things, foot the bill yourself. You have millions. I would have thought it was cute to show off for Kate if it had not been at the expense of hard working taxpayers (especially with families struggling to pay for gas and food prices at their highest)

I believe he looks happy most of the time, (there is not one person who can say they look happy ALL the time). And Jenny you say he’s drunk all the time, does that make him a happy drunk then??

    LOL

(i don’t think he’s drunk all the time either, he’s got a rough occupation)

as long as the prince is happy and comfortable in all that he does, suprising his gf makes a romantic gestures!

I think Kate would have known he was coming so I wouldn’t really call it a romantic gesture. More a case of a lad wanting to show everyone his new machine and what he can do with it. Though hopefully lessons have been learnt from this.

Though I feel sorry for William in a way. I think at the end of the day he was training, it wasn’t a joyride, and if anyone is to blame it’s his instructors for putting him that position. You’ll probably find lots of RAF trainees have been given the opportunity to fly over their parents houses. But fortunately for them they’re not a prince and therefore noone cares what they do.

The thing is the media know they’re going to get a reaction from the public and so they play on it. Which is unfair on Wills. The stag-do was poor judgement on Will’s behalf but the rest of it he was under an instructor so it’s not entirely his fault. The instructors should have been more careful with him.

    Jess,

    Interesting.

I firmly believe that the apology offered by the RAF was the biggest gaff so far and a huge error as it indicates a weakness.

They should have taken the view that CH alwayd take and made no comment.

Once the decision to train William as a pilot had been taken the costs were incurred. The trips now disclosed would add virtually nothing to his training costs. Why can’t people accept that fact.

    I agree, Will.
If one regards the costs of William’s flying lessons a waste of tax payers money than it wasn’t the RF who was wasting the money but the Royal Air Force. They made the decision to take William on as a trainee and of course that costs money. The RAF probably allocated a certain budget to William’s course and I doubt they spend more than had been planned for this. Even if William hadn’t taken those controversial flights that wouldn’t have changed the situation of any soldier in combat at all. Furthermore his fellow RAF comrads still seem to include him in their activities which they probaby wouldn’t if they regarded his behaviour as respectless, arrogant and spoilt.

I can to a certain degree understand the feeling that his training is “useless” if he won’t see active duty anyways but that question should have been discussed BEFORE he even started training in the military. And I would bet on the fact that the same amount of people would have complained just as much had he never even started training with the forces. He will already serve a much shorter period of time than his father - actually only about half as long. I personally think it’s useful for him to at least briefly see all branches of the military and of course that incudes flying when he’s with the RAF.

GRACIE - What a nice comment to make. Not only is it untrue, but it’s also a slap in face to people who are gay because you wrote it with such hostility. Grow up - you sound like a homophobic person.

Trixie - I have to ask though again - what in the world was William thinking when he took the Chinook and picked up Harry as a passenger? Is he qualified to fly passengers around especially when headed to a party? And what if God forbid something happened to that Chinook and seriously injured or killed both of them? Then everyone would have been screaming for the heads to roll at the RAF, at Clarence House, etc. I don’t know why people aren’t thinking in terms of that potential disaster happening to the Monarchy.
