Prince William shows his support for British Troops

PHOTO - Prince William and Carol Vorderman at the Lord Mayor\'s Appeal 2008Prince William showed his support for British soldiers wounded fighting for their country as he attended a fundraising dinner in aid of health charities.

The young Royal was seen wearing a Help The Heroes coloured wristband as he mingled with guests at the black-tie event in aid of this year’s Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

The £2 wristbands were launched last October to raise £5m to help build a much needed swimming pool and gym complex at Headley Court, the tri-service rehabilitation centre in Surrey.

At the event held at the Guild Hall in central London, the second in line to the throne looked smart in a black bow tie and matching dinner jacket, at a pre-dinner reception attended by celebrities like Sir David Frost, Carol Vorderman and Henry Kelly.

William, 25, is patron of the appeal launched by the current Mayor of the City of London, David Lewis, who has chosen health charity Wellbeing of Women and Orbis, an international sight-saving organisation to benefit from his appeal.

The Prince said he was delighted to become patron of the initiative and added: “Becoming involved in this way is particularly special for me because of the past association and commitment of my mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, to Wellbeing of Women. (via The Press Association)

He has a list of engagements coming up. He’s becoming a working royal already. mariska agusta, you are funny. People disappointed that Kate wasn’t with him but that will happen eventually. It would have been very hard for me to not look down at her cleavage. But he did good. The old sign of faithfulness, lol.

Meet the Throne Rangers - the privileged young beauties whose aim is to bag a Prince
By RICHARD PRICE - More by this author »

Last updated at 21:49pm on 2nd May 2008
Like all truly committed hunters, they head out several times a week, whatever the weather, hoping for a glimpse of their elusive prey.

But they are not your typical wildlife enthusiasts. Far from it.

Their favoured habitat is London’s exclusive nightclub scene, their uniform a subtle yet unmistakably expensive mix of Jimmy Choo shoes, Jack Wills rather Sloaney clothing company and diamond ear studs, and their secret weapon a mobile phone brimming with the numbers of like-minded girls.
Tonight, they will be gathering once more at their apartments in Kensington and Belgravia. Typically blonde, lissom and rather bored, they cluster together sipping gin and tonics while awaiting a text message which could - they genuinely believe - change their lives.

If their luck is in it will arrive, typically around 11pm, and will read something like: “H@M no C.” Gibberish to most, but manna from heaven to the Harry Hunters. A rough translation is “Prince Harry is at Mahiki, without Chelsy.”

Whooping with joy, the girls finish off their drinks - and in many cases a line of cocaine for Dutch courage - then apply lavish quantities of eye-liner, mascara and pink lip gloss. Then they run giggling into a chauffeur-driven Mercedes bound for a royal appointment at the exclusive West End club.

They will not, of course, be alone. The coded text has been sent to dozens of would-be princesses across the capital, and upwards of 30 girls are all heading in the same direction - all with the same plan in mind. To bag themselves a Prince.

These girls are known as “Harry Heads.” They are the product of the richest, most influential families in the land with seemingly limitless funds, country mansions and luxury holidays at their disposal.
In their tiny, elite set (where girls have names like Tilly, Widge and Boo), stories abound of girls who came agonisingly close to landing an HRH. The bolder - and more drunk - among them lie that they have enjoyed illicit fumbles with a Prince in nightclub toilets or under tables at £10,000-a-head fundraising bashes.

“They’re wild, strikingly beautiful and usually completely spoilt because they have been brought up with access to everything their hearts desire,” says one Mahiki regular.

“All of them genuinely seem to believe they’re in with a chance with Harry, which is a bit baffling to ordinary folk because he is in a very stable relationship with Chelsy Davy.

But the notion of being exclusive in a relationship isn’t widely accepted by a lot of these true-blue aristos. Some of them think of it as terribly middle class.

“The other thing they have in their favour is that not one of them is a kiss-and-tell merchant. What happens between them and Harry - and they continue to believe against all the evidence that something will - won’t be appearing in a tabloid. Again, it’s a class thing
“These girls don’t need the cash. They’ve got pots of it.”

They do, however, take a great deal of pleasure from the thrill of the chase. The very thought, it seems, of successfully seducing a Prince is enough to send them into paroxysms of delight.

“It’s like a sport for some of the richest girls in the land,” adds the Mahiki source. “It’s also completely addictive, highly competitive, incredibly exclusive and very well organised.”

“It” girl Donatella Panayiotou, 24, whose family has run exclusive London nightclubs for decades, confirms that “hanging out with the royals is cool again.”

“Like my friends, I’m very wellconnected and spend four nights a week at London’s best clubs, getting the full VIP treatment,” she says.

“I see Wills and Harry out all the time. Harry gets on the dancefloor, drinks, chats to girls and parties like a normal guy. All the girls want to be near him.

“Most of my friends are Tatler girls - double-barrelled ladies who are always in the diary pages of society magazines. They are not to be confused with Wagabes - Wag wannabes - who can be spotted a mile off from their bling, short skirts and desperation to bag a rich man.”

Indeed, the contempt felt by all Harry Heads for so-called Wagabes is seemingly limitless, in spite of the fact that, prey aside, their modus operandi is near identical.

Another subtle difference is the timing of their hunting sorties. While Harry’s Army commitments have recently limited his public appearances to weekends - hence tonight’s expected gathering of Princechasers - Harry Heads favour week nights, thereby demonstrating their superiority to the girls with jobs, whom they dismissively refer to as “9 to 5ers.”

Monday nights are generally spent at the Wellington club, Tuesday at Boujis, Wednesday at Movida and Thursday at Mahiki or Raffles. All are exclusive, jealously guarded from outsiders and very expensive.

The Harry Heads are not, however, alone at these venues. Their older sisters, and some of their friends, often belong to a rival group which sees itself as more sophisticated, better dressed, infinitely more polished and charged with upholding the establishment.

They, too, receive their own text alerts (usually sent by friends of Harry and Wills).

These are the Willabees - pronounced Willoughbys - and to these blue-blooded girls Kate Middleton, who met William at St Andrews University, is nothing more than a jumped-up commoner whose grip on the Prince must be loosened at all costs.

Like the Harry Heads, they drink vintage champagne (in Raffles a jeroboam costs £12,000) and Treasure Chest cocktails at Mahiki, a snip at £300.

They would never be so crass as to carry money, never go to the bar, only talk to their immediate circle and blank everyone who is not rich or aristocratic.

A 23-year-old brunette calling herself “Tash,” who spent six weeks infiltrating this highly secretive set, says: “I was in Mahiki in the early hours of the morning, the day before it was announced that William and Kate had officially split.

“Prince William rushed onto the tiny dance floor clutching a Treasure Chest and shouting: ‘I’m free! I’m not married! I just want to have fun!’

“He didn’t look fantastic. He was wearing brown corduroy trousers and his thinning hair was plastered down with sweat. But within seconds all these amazing-looking girls just surrounded him, all trying to get his attention. It was unreal.”

Tash, who partied at Boujis, The Wellington and at the Polo with the Princes, explains: “Most of them went to a very few top schools, or their parents know each other. You wouldn’t recognise any of them because they do everything they can not to court the Press. In fact, they really hate celebrities and can be incredibly unfriendly.”

Despite their contempt for all things nouveau riche, the Harry Heads have a grudging respect for Chelsy Davy, who is said to be “extremely relaxed” about her boyfriend of three years hitting the town without her.

“Lord knows she does the same thing, so she could hardly ban him from letting his hair down every now and again,” says one seasoned royal watcher.

“Chelsy and Harry have always had a very easy and trusting relationship. She knows girls throw themselves at him but she doesn’t feel threatened. She knows he will be his friendly self, chat to the girls and say: ‘What’s your name?’ But it won’t go any further than that.

“Frankly, she’s used to it and treats the Harry Heads with the contempt she feels they deserve.”

Yet while Chelsy is reluctantly accepted as a legitimate society figure by the Harry Heads - aided by the vague mystique of having grown up among the privileged classes of Africa - the same cannot be said of Kate Middleton and the Willabees.

As Tash recalls: “I tried to sit at her table in Mahiki once but got frozen out immediately.

“You can see she is determined to hang on to the Prince and she was very clever to get him back by going out, looking fabulous and making him jealous.

She doesn’t seem to drink and always seems sober, unlike most of the other girls. When you go into the toilets in most of the royal nightclubs, you hear the sound of snorting over the cistern flushing.

“Kate is different. They don’t like her because they don’t trust her. One girl described her as ‘the epitome of grasping bourgeoisie, desperate for social status with absolutely no class.’”

Another royal watcher admits: “There is a dark side to the people who hang around the Princes. When you have everything, you can do anything and get away with anything.

“There is a real mix of Hooray Henrying and louche, aristocratic behaviour that can get quite weird. I call them Throne Rangers and, I must admit, I don’t particularly like them.”

So what chance do these Harry Heads and Willabees stand? Very little, it would seem.

“If people come up to William, he will be polite and say hello but he doesn’t enjoy the attention. His detectives are alert and are very hot on stopping people from pestering him. Those who overstep the mark are discreetly moved on.

The truth is that since getting back together with Kate, he has grown up a lot. Military training has shown him just how privileged he is and he takes the notion of duty very seriously.

“This year, he has barely been out on the town - and that is entirely his own choice.

“The last time he and Harry were out was last month at a fundraising night organised by their friend Guy Pelly. But when the event was over and everyone headed to Mahiki, William and Kate drove home. They just couldn’t face the hordes of people hassling them.”

Harry remains the more sociable of the two, and would appear to be the better bet for girls hoping to bag a Prince. Nevertheless he, too, has undergone a change since joining the Army.

“Harry’s like an over-excited puppy and will invite anyone and everyone to join the party,” adds the royal watcher. “He’s very sociable and in the past people have taken advantage of his nature. But as he gets older he’s learning how to rein it in.

“At Peter Phillips’s stag weekend in Cowes, he spent an entire night talking to a beautiful blonde in a bar, bought her drinks and had a laugh. But at the end, he just shook her hand and said: ‘It was lovely to meet you. Good night.’ He knows where to draw the line now.”

Not that this will deter the Harry Heads and Willabees. Until they are married, the young Princes will be regarded as fair game.

And yet for all these girls’ blue-blooded heritage, both William and Harry have proved strikingly egalitarian in their choice of girlfriends.

Both Chelsy and Kate fall, to put it bluntly, into the nouveauriche bracket. That’s why the Harry Heads, Willabees and Throne Rangers will be out in force again this coming week, hoping against hope for a chance to snare that rarest of prey: a Prince, or even the ultimate prize, the future King of England.

These girls good have loads of money, but there description in the article seems to be far worst than Kate and Chelsy. If the boy really wanted to go out with any girl, they could, but they haven’t.

It just goes to show you that William & Harry knows what they are doing and they have choosen beautiful women to be with. The description of Kate is very fair. A person who don’t drink much and has helped William to mature a bit more. We see more maturity in him now. He’s becoming more dutiful and just so well respected. Those girls that are out to get themseleves a prince, don’t like Kate much mainly they feel threatened by her and she does look like she don’t take crap and don’t like childish things.

Oh thanks Me. I just tell it like it is. Things are just fine with them but what I really like about this site is that you will always have something to talk about and the speculation comments are fun to read. Will is really the person who gets the comments to going and Claudius comes in and tries to clam everybody down and tells us that everything will be alright. Although I feel if he saw something that gave him any doubts, he will say something. I wonder when will Buckingham Palace announce the details of Peter’s wedding, it’s only two or three weeks away. Anybody have ideas?

Well, as you say 2 weeks before wedding date, amasingly (I am surprised, and don’t agree) Autumn has renounced her religion for the Church of Englando. :rasing brows:

I perhaps may understand that she did it for the Monarchy in whole, not for any other far reasons.

I wish we knew her true intent for renouncing her religion. I can’t wait for the wedding though. I hope chelsy comes as well as kate. I wonder if Kate will be wearing her ring (LOL).So much seems to be riding on why she wasn’t wearing that RING. Enough of the ring already.

Thank you for the articles, Me. The one about the “Throne Rangers” is really “interesting” . Funny how the “Willabees” try to insult Kate and only end up making her look good. She’s not good enough for William because she isn’t an aristocratic drunk who’d be alright with sharing her man with other women. :-o Now if that isn’t a serious character flaw. :-D
It’s also good to read that the Princes indeed matured and aren’t out and about partying anymore. I guess the articles also puts all the “flings” into perspective. It’s been flirts and conversations with women that never ended up being more than that. If even those “Throne Rangers” admit that they never really stood a chance, that’s saying something about the Princes and their relationships.

I hope for William he’d be allowed to join the helicopter unit but I was wondering when he intens to do that? I was under the impression he’d leave the military by the end of the year.

WILLIAM is being the royal royalember of his family that he is. sadly american’s over here is still putting william second in li to the throne ,it’s harry that is ,you american’s are slow in reporting accurate news and valid royal approciate order of power duke of wales is charles, prince of wales is william and prince in waiting to wales is harry, n case william marry accordling to royal law, thus he would be king and prince harry. you over place both as prince of wales. your facts over here are wrong, charles married according to church and royal law a whore in value ,camilla.base on church and royal law.over here you lie and say his second will be queen at his side and or a title equaling lady diana or princess diana.

THIS is never so ,someone in america has a childish approach to writting the truth on royals and their titles and what was done.this writter is in aqucate to the brittish knowledge. he must like charles. anyway, lhe charles gave up the rights to be king when he married camilla bowels ,who is not related to any royal figure in blood. rumours have confused what the people of britain already knowew is ,he will never be king.like duke of winsor and duchess another wowho has no royal leanage . did not have the previlliages of the pure royal line.it the same for charles. notice he does not have the income like william and harry.he charles provides for his second wife which leads to no real royal income for her. she is hoping the people wil forget her sins and be thought of as a real family memeber in previliages.notice that when the queen gave a name for her it is consort which means she is married to a royal and is not previlaige to the income title and bloodline perks.

although all of you would fight me on the truth being said but you are not real british people and nor does america place the truth in their writting of britianers in brittian and the royal family’s goings on.charle’s has the same ate as his uncle and their is real fighting going on behind the closed doors to the palace. camilla is never treated and was told day one she base on her leanage and her sin pattern of prosute of les ,has made it impoosible for true royal previlaiges of monarchary.

    Hi guys,

I don’t think I have seen all the photographs but William was expected to be accompanied on thursday evening.

Most of his spare time seemed to be taken up with or by the mathematics genius but he seemed to be quite comfortable if a little downbeat.

I understand there was some disappointment when he left at the earliest opportunity.

William is not engaged or married so nobody in their right mind can expect him to be “accompanied” to a public engagement. I doubt Thursday’s organisers were so unfamiliar with this that they were expecting anybody else.

    Morning Guys,

I have just seen one of the most vile attacks on an individul I can recall seeing and believe me I se lots.

A friend directed me to a site which I will not name but apparently supported by someone calling hersl Marilyn.

The attack on Kate Middleton in this cartoon video must be the most reprehensible and vile
blogging that I have ever heard and being a personnal attack of such a nature that I venure to suggest that it may well be actionable.

That decision should be left to others, but having seen that and also read the ‘Harry Heads’ article where our so called aristocratic groupies have mounted a campaign of hate against Kate Middleton make me think why or how people think they can get away with such filth.

I have read even on here some derogatory remarks about Kate b ut the reaction of most of us have managed to keep it somewhat in check.

Who is to blame for all this and what must, or can be done to stop it.. Is it society in general or just a few, or not so few, jealous people who hate others to be happy if they are unable to realize their own goals.

I feel that one person could stop it and I seem to remember that person promising to take care of and look after Kate , as he felt so much affection for her. This promise was made after one of their breaks when it was said that he didn’t want Kate abandoned and promised to support her.

Where is that promised protection and support when she most needs it and having seen and read these latest comment she needs protection now.

There are two options as I see it, let her get on with her life and that way stop the attacks on her or publically acknowledge her and show these misguided groups that she is his life partner.

A promise is a promise and people and subjects will remember that.

    Will,

I agree with you whole-heartedly. Especially on the “pormising-to-take-care-of-and-look-after-Kate” part. I so appreciate your eloquance and kindness, (even if I don’t always agree with you) :)

I do think we have some of those Kate-Haters on this site too. Although, as a credit to you - things seem to be a BIT subdued, or at least restrained.

I personally am not sure if it is jealousy or society. My real opinion is that it is almost scary, or “stalkerish”, if you will. I have to say I personally like Kate, but even if I didn’t - one must admire her stick-to-itivness. I don’t know if I could by that loyal. And as a credit to the Middleton’s, who people seem to dislike - especially her mom - they are already wealthy and seem to have a happy family life - they certainly don’t need the royals; I am not sure that I would be supportive of my daughter’s relationship with William.

Anyway, thanks again for acknowledging that which is blatantly wrong and mean.

These ‘Throne-Rangers- are as bad as those call girls that pray on married footballers. Don’t they have any shame. In this case I don’t see how they can look down on someone like Kate when infact these girls act much lower in class then she does. They look down on her more than Chelsy because Chelsy with her background easily sits in with the higher social crowd whereas I reckon it is likely Kate would have had a rougher ride. These girls probably cannot believe that someone of lower social status than them managed to bag a prince.
