That would have been a clean solution and deprived the tabloids of an opportunity to write their usual rubbish. But to go to Kenya alone when Jecca will be there and have Kate attend Peter's wedding is the worst decision, IMO, because Kate and William do not appear as a couple but seperately. This leaves the papers exactly the type of situation to make up all sorts of unfounded speculation.
