Well a pretty disappointing evening for comments on this website - we had some really good thoughts and opinions but it was tarnished by some nasty direct and indirect attacks on people.

I'm not singling anyone out but if we get a repeat of what happened last night I'll probably be handing out some bans. It sunk to a really low level that I'm sure most people here don't appreciate.

lisa, I do think that they will become engaged and I am happy for them if they do. I do not think that they are already engaged unless they announce it soon because the Royal Family does not have long engagements. That point I am afraid cannot be argued as they just do not have long engagements and never will.

Kate has spent nearly 3 years with William since university and most of that she has spent not working. The excuse that she is learning how to become a royal is not valid in my opinion. It is easy to say and would be the case in they were engaged but they are not. There must be some other reason why she has not worked for the best part of 3 years. After all, if she was training when people first said she was 3 years ago, then they would be engaged by now. These engagement rumours have been going on for the past 3/4 years and it has not happened yet. I say, just leave them in peace and let them get married when they want to.

However, I do think that Kate should get a job especially if William never asks her. Whilst there is only a small chance that he won't now, it is still possible. If they break up, she will be left with very little in terms of prospects and will have to explain to an employer what she has been doing since university and why. I know that an employer will not accept " I thought my boyfriend would ask me to marry him, but he didn't in the end".

And Remember: Healthy debates as maddie said not arguments! Let's please try to be respectful of each other. By all means argue a point but do not start to argue with the person by picking them out and commenting upon them. It is becoming harder for me to post here, because I do not want to be ripped into (as maddie put it). I would like to be able to state my opinion for others to respect it, yet politely argue against it. Let's not make our comments become personal. I am afraid that if the attitude does not improve, I will not be posting any more.

I believe that was not nice at all to criticize someones spelling. It could be they are from another country where english is not their native language and maybe they are using translator. It is increasingly harder to post a comment without certain people ripping into you. Healthy debates are one thing but becoming nasty and hurtful is tacky and immature.

Claudius you are quite wise in your assessment. I bow to your insightfulness :)

Hmmm...an internal bout at the DM. You don't say! Those folks still have their noses out of joint over the Hello deal IMO.

Okay, we have an internal (DM) boxing match: first Katie Nicholl, now Richard Kay hitting back...read on.

Suggestions that the Queen believes Kate Middleton should follow the example of the Countess of Wessex and have a job before she marries Prince William amused courtiers.

They remember the apoplexy over the former Sophie Rhys-Jones's public relations career, which heaped so much embarrassment on the Royal Family.

"The whole point of the monarchy's strategy then was to disentangle the unfortunate Sophie from any commercial activity," says one figure involved. "People do seem to have very short memories."

I think everyone tend to forget that William may be waiting for awhile to make an annoucement but may have already proposed. No one is attacking anyone ali. William is trying to make things clear that Catherine is a very important fixture in his life even by her attending the wedding and sitting with the royal family. But people are getting bent out of shape because there's no official announcement yet and that makes people blood boil. How do I know that? just read the tabs and some comments.I have a feeling We may see her attending the Garter ceremony this month. That is an important day for William and I know she will want to be there. Like I have always said that William is doing things his own way and she is going with it beautifully. The same thing for Harry & Chelsy. There are things that is standing in their way like Chelsy going to school, Harry's army career, William's last bit of training and they are trying to get those things out of the way so they can start their lives. The only thing we are seeing and reading is the impatients of the press and I just watch you guys get all upset and you shouldn't do that.
