She maybe watching the ceremony with the crowd, that come to watch the cermony. I’d be surprised if she was in ST Georges chapel for it though, because she isn’t a member of the Royal Family yet.
June 16th, 2008 08:27
No she will be in the chapel if she’s there. The Service starts at 3pm.
June 16th, 2008 08:47
Rman from what I have read and understand about the actual Garter ceremony. Only those who are either members of the Garter or about to become members of the Garter can attend the actual cermony which takes place inside the chapel itself.
Garter service at St George’s Chapel
The Order of the Garter once held services at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, but they became rare in the 18th century. The Garter services, discontinued in 1805, was revived by King George VI in 1948, and it has become an annual event. Each June, on the Monday of Royal Ascot week, the members of the Order, wearing their ceremonial vestments and insignia, meet in the state apartments in the Upper Ward of Windsor Castle. They process on foot, led by the Military Knights of Windsor, through the castle to St George’s Chapel for the service. If there are any new knights, they are installed on this occasion. After the service, the members return to the Upper Ward by carriage.
Thats from Wikipedia
Also this from a site called http://www.heraldicsculptor.com/Garters.html
The Procession and Service at St George’s Chapel Windsor
Every June, the Knights of the Garter gather at Windsor Castle, where the new Knights take the oath and are invested with the insignia of the Order, which consists of the Garter, Star, Riband, Collar and Mantle.
The investiture of the new knights takes place in one of the oldest parts of the castle, the 12th century Garter Throne Room. After lunch in the Waterloo Chamber the latest Lady Companion and Knights of the Garter, along with the other previously installed Knights and Lady Companions of the Garter began the procession at Castle Hill walking down from the State Apartments at Windsor Castle to the lower wards before entering St George’s Chapel
HM The Queen as Sovereign of the Order of The Garter, attends the Garter service along with other members of the Royal family who are in the Order, including HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, HRH the Prince of Wales, HRH the Princess Royal, HRH The Duke of Kent and HRH the Duke of Gloucester.
(…)
On Garter Day when a new Knight is invested, he still receives exhortation to the Christian Faith, the procession in which he walks is not only a means of proceeding from the Royal Apartments at the Upper Ward to the Royal Chapel, but it is also a public witness to the long tradition of the Sovereign and leaders to the nation giving their allegiance to God.
(…)
The most newly created Knights of the Garter walk down at the front with the more senior Knights at the end, these Knights wear the dark blue velvet robes adorned with the cross of St George, surrounded by the Garter motto: “Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense” on the left breast . These robes of blue velvet mantle and red velvet hood worn on the right shoulder, black velvet hat and white Ostrich plumes. These robes are also open on the right side to give freedom to the sword-bearing right arm.

Procession is being shown on Sky now.

I think that Kate’s appearence today says it all. I think within the next year or two they’ll make things official unless something goes disasterously wrong which from where I’m sitting looks highly unlikely.
June 16th, 2008 11:04
I’m so happy for William and Catherine look absolutely stunning. She is smiling from ear to ear.
June 16th, 2008 11:12
Thank you for the pictures. Everyone looks marvelous, with Wills being the usual handsome hottie, and Kate was dressed and behaved appropriately as always — really the model of royal decorum. She just might (*Alsgal crosses fingers*) teach some of the younger Royals a thing or two yet!
June 16th, 2008 11:15
Yeah, I liked the way she matched her entire look, I wish we can get more pics.
June 16th, 2008 11:24
Kate looked pretty in that cover of a womans magazine.

June 16th, 2008 12:31
Yes! Kate was there. So much for HM disapproving of her!
I like the way Wills looks in the Garter robes though he seems to feel a little uneasy. Kate looked great and very much at easy among the royals.
June 16th, 2008 12:52
Hooray! She looks beautiful and looks like she is one of the family. It hardly looks like their relationship is on the rocks Where are all the negative posters now?
June 16th, 2008 12:55
Katie Nicholl is on her knees, what happened to her so called inside sources.
June 16th, 2008 12:58
LOL Her only source was herself making up some bs
June 16th, 2008 13:46
Did you guys see that lovely picture of Catherine on the Daily Mail? It shows her entire outfit. William truly looked like a future King in his Garter robes. Even though I know she was watching, it would have been lovely for Diana to be there. She probably wouldn’t be able to contain her excitement like Catherine and Harry.
June 16th, 2008 14:00
So much for the Queen disapproving of Kate. I think this should put all the rumours to rest for now.
June 16th, 2008 14:22
I totally agree with you Jess.
June 16th, 2008 14:32
Jess and Rman,
Sadly, you know there will be negative spin on this….
Obviously, Kate has been accepted, is being groomed and they will be engaged soon.
June 16th, 2008 15:35
I hope not. I think with this appearance, Katie Nicholl and her fellow tab followers (the other tabs who copy/paste her latest articles) will just have to shut up for the meantime.
Even Rebecca English couldn’t make it sound or spin bad with the updated DM article about the Order of the Garter event, she tried in the first paragraph saying that PH and KM where laughing at PW, but as the article goes on, she kept to writting to what a reporter and photographer actually saw at St. Georges - Windsor, with a little exageration perhaps to make it a bit more juicy. Like perhaps adding: PH was on guard between KM and the cameras
June 16th, 2008 15:37
Because English did up date the DM article, when previously it had no reporters name ! At least the first version, now its English and more pics posted.
June 16th, 2008 15:44
Have to be aware of the 3 broomstick ladies: Nicholl, English and Platell, they spread the gossip to the rest of the newspapers. A change of wording here, there but same news initiated. I really wonder if Nicholl is on a sleeping pill after the KM show up at St. George’s or she busted her TV set. Even English admitted and gave a little inside
of where exactly KM was standing and extended it saying that after the event with the entire royal family including the Queen and PP…ahhh maybe another a little exageration but not equal to her latest articles about KM, embarrasing I’d be if I were R. English.
June 16th, 2008 15:59
Me,
Not only the broomstick ladies….notice all the naysayers on this board are have been quiet.
June 16th, 2008 16:04
Ahhhh, but I do miss them, instead of making me boil, actually I would laugh
Even the repetitive mooners, naysayers
June 16th, 2008 18:58
Katie Nicholls “sources” were unavailable. They were busy cleaning up after the royal horses!
June 16th, 2008 19:00
CM looked soo good today. I love the way PH/CM were playing around, giggling, and leaning in on each other. It’s great they all get on with each other. Camilla looded super happy, so did Sophie. Poor Wills, though. Everyone elses plume was in standing up, his was slightly droopey. Boy, bet he felt rediculos.
June 16th, 2008 19:04
jacqueliine,I just adore PH. The pictures of him and Kate are just priceless. It is very endearing to see him escorting her to these events9the wedding and now this service.) It really speaks volumes. Good times are coming for sure!
June 16th, 2008 19:17
Lisa, love the cleaning up of the horses. KOTC.
June 16th, 2008 19:41
Good, very good times are indeed coming. For us and for them.
June 16th, 2008 20:54
Okay tea time
