Press Officer to manage Prince William’s Spin

In a move that will inevitably increase speculation that Prince William may soon announce his engagement to Kate Middleton, Mandrake hears that he has requested his own personal spin-doctor.

Intriguingly, he wants him, or her, to start next year.

“William wants to start having more say over his own life and thinks that a dedicated press officer could help him achieve that,” one of the Prince’s chums tells me.

A Clarence House spokesman declines to comment, but one official tells me: “Prince William is represented by all of us, but we are likely to recruit more staff as he takes on more Royal duties next year.” (via The Telegraph)

    Thanks to Rman for the heads-up on this story.

    I wonder if it’s related to the position that was advertised back in April this year?

    BRW,

    This post was advertised earlier this year.

    This is a reprise and not a new position so perhaps they have urgently realized that PW has been badly advised and handled over the past few years and it’s time to put things right.

    Hope they pick right person.

    Any news on incident in nightclub after Mandels concert on saturday evening. It’s rumoured that someone said or did something to KM and she was apparently escorted home by a member of security .

    She seemed ok at Wimbledon yesterday with her Mum and some strange faces. Security people ?

    News anyone ?

    Hi Ked,

    Yes I figured that it was the position that the Telegraph writer picked up on for their article.

    Small snippet about Kate leaving the Casino Club last night;

    Isn’t it only natural that William would get his own spokes person when he starts full time royal duty next year? Surely this is like “coming off age” for him with regard to his royal function hence it would look strange if he was still represented by his father’s office.

    What happened Ked? You said there was an incident involving Kate at the nightclub. Hope it wasn’t too serious.

    ked, please do not start rumors. This sort of thing grows legs and I am sure the folks running this site do not wish to have such things started here.
