OK, I got a bit angry about Holly. There isn't all that pics of her partying. Sorry, I've really exceeded, but she is still a very frequetly company of them for who studies sooo much as her.
Now, search for Isabella Calthorpe in Rex Features. The endless-name, wonderful, gorgeous, most beautiful, with the best backgroud of UK, the incredible actress, the love of William's life, his fixation and desire above any other woman in Earth, "the only who make Kate jealous" (it's not my exaggeration but the press/DM one) are now described just as Sam Branson girlfriend.
Lord how things has changed!

B,

What proof do you have that Holly Branson works or is still studying?

She seems to have as much free time as Kate b/c she use to travel and go to parties frequently with K and W (Caribbe, Boxing Ball, Kate and Mandela's birthday, single William - last year when he and Kate splits) at the same way than Guy Pelly does, lately more than him. And when she isn't in Kate's or William's company she can be easily saw with Guy Pelly, Isabella Calthorpe (her step-sister), the Van Cutsem, Davina Barber and many others which name I don't know (in clubs, polo games, openings...). Besides her own father's parties and vacation travels (tropical islands, South Africa...).
Go to DONFEATURES site or Rex Features and you will see that she is in most of the parties, much much more than the others I've quoted above.During the day, at night, any hour and day of the week.
Hard is not find her partying or attending the british society events, she goes to everything with everybody.
Nice that she's discreet, but she is a real "party girl" for sure, not someone who manages her time for it, but someone who do it all the time more than the rest, what she manages well are the drinks b/c she never seems drunk (but she enjoy bottles of beer if you look the pics with attention ). You can't say the opposite!

PS: "single William - last year when he and Kate splits".
Sometimes she seems to have more time for William than his proper girlfriend Kate. She doesn't have a boyfriend? Since her teenage years she’s glued in William. I think it's too weird!

What I think we need to remember is that there is no guarentee that Kate will marry PW. It is likely considering the length of time they have been together but many couples have broken up after 5, 7, 10 even 12 years of dating but no marriage. I do not think that they will be getting married until 2010.

Therfore, if Kate had got a job when she first left university she would have had 5+ years of work. She could have done very well for herself during that time and what if she never does marry PW, she has wasted those years of her life. It would not be PW's fault as she has her own mind and made the decisions herself.

I don't think she has to do a 9-5 job if she does not want to, but I think that she should do something, some work of some kind just for her. I think that it would help her to be achieving something. Many women and men as well these days go to work for several years then leave to have children. Kate would have to leave to join the RF but the idea is the same.

I think that the job at Jigsaw was just something to please William. I reckon that if she tried to look for a job she would find something that would suit her, or would allow for another job that would suit her. People are not always happy with their first job, and have to wait for a promotion or the chance of experience to apply to apply to another job. She must have had some career or plan for her life before she started university, otherwise there was no point going in the first place.

She could work for a company and work her way up the ladder, or she could work in an art gallery. A job does not have to be as amazing as being a barrister or journalist, if something is achieved from a job no matter how small it provided satisfaction. Several of my friends are teachers. The pay is not great, but they work hard and they have a huge sense of achievement as they see the children progress. That job only requires anothers years training after university and would be ideal for Kate because the hours are relatively short compared to some jobs and the holidays are longer. It would also be good experience for her if she did marry PW because she would have worked with children and could base her charities around children whilst having evidence that she has an interest in the development of children.

There are many people in the world who claim that they should not work because they do not have a dream or feel fulfilled. Can we excuse all of them? I do not want Kate to regret her life she is in the prime of it and I would not want anybody to look back and feel that they wasted it.

You make a good point B but you forgot that "rich kids" usually work in a field of interest for them - if they work. Holly said it was always her dream to be a doctor. So what if Kate never had such a dream? Not everyone wants to be a doctor or a lawyer. What if she wants to be an artistic photographer or an artist in general? That would be the kind of occupation you can't study at college or turn into a 9-5 job really.
So it would hardly give her life a "purpose" to work in some other 9-5 that doesn't interest her at all. I guess she probably realised that when she worked for Jigsaw. It didn't fulfill her so why do it?

B, although I see your point to a certain extent and congratulate you for being ambitious whilst having wealthy parents (must be nice, my father spent most of my formative years in the hole ;) ) Holly Branson is a different person from Kate. Yes, it's admirable that Holly is going to be a doctor but that is something that will take another five years to complete -- and as it is a profession she can have for a lifetime, it's worth investing the time and effort in it.

What is the point in Catherine starting on a career that substantial if she has to give it up when she marries into the RF?

So, that leaves the frothy "rich girl" jobs, jobs like being an assistant accessories buyer, gallery assistant or party planner for her well-connected friends. Do those sorts of jobs really give one self-esteem, does it really make a positive difference in the world if one is in charge of ordering the Pimm's for a party at a castle? Those jobs aren't the same league as a doctor curing disease, a barrister defending the innocent, or a journalist exposing injustice through investigative reporting.

That said, I do feel during this time that Catherine is in a "holding pattern" that she could begin serious involvement with a few charities as that is certainly something she could transport into her next life as a Royal.
I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, and wonder if perhaps she might be sneaking into AIDS/crack babies/leprosy wards in the middle of the night -- perhaps we just don't know it?

I disagree alsgal, whilst it is true that she does not have to work because of her parent's wealth it does not mean that she should not. My parents are a lot wealthier than Kate's yet I am slaving away trying to get my life back of track after several years of upset and difficult circumstances. I plan to work hard because I want to be able to look back on my life and say I did that!

A factory worker is an important part in the scheme of things. One less factory worker would decrease the output of a company which means the supply would be less and the price more. Every person contributes to their company or workplace in one way or another however small.

Every person would rather than they could just sunbathe but in all fairness after you have done that for a while, wouldn't you get bored? Wouldn't you want the challenge of a career? Wouldn't you want the experiences that a job has to offer? I know I would. A job does not have to be about making money. A job or rather a career can provide personal satisfaction, a sense of worth, improved self esteem, a chance to become more independent and a chance to help others even in a small way. A factory worker may have to work for a small salary but such workers tend to be in LEDCs (less economically developed countries). The cicumstances are very different and an extreme example has been chosen to support your point. This example does not relate in anyway to the life that KM has.

IMO, the excuse that Kate does not have to work because she has enough money is not a very good one. Plently of people have more money than her and they still work. Jobs can give people a purpose and when times are tough than can give somebody a reason to carry on. People like Holly Branson have a lot more money than Kate and they work. Ms Branson is training to become a doctor. That requires a lot of work and she still manages to have fun by partying. She is also part of William's close circle which shows that having a job is not a problem for his upper crust friends.

I've had to work all my life and I have to agree with Ked, work isn't everything. Does a factory worker sewing shirts make much difference in the overall scheme of things, other then providing a meager salary on which he or she supports the family? No, of course not. The factory worker would probably rather be at that villa in Barbados too, right next to Catherine sitting on a lounge chair, drinking one of those cocktails with the paper umbrella. Just because that factory worker puts in a 38 hour week doesn't make him more noble or more worthy than the next guy. He works because he HAS to, not for glory or to set an example.

If Catherine doesn't have to work to lead a luxurious life, I say good for her and I wish my last name was Middleton! :)

sami,

I base my comments on how and what you write.

You asked the question as to what she would do if PW walked away.

I just answered you in same way. She has enough money not to work which is a similar position to many thousand other people and which invokes comments similar to yours.

If she wants or has to find love elsewhere then believe me she has a much better opportunity of finding the her right man than most. Believe me.
