Lady Rose Windsor & George Gilman Wedding
The royal family will enjoy its second wedding of the year when Lady Rose Windsor – a relative of the Queen – marries fiance George Gilman today.
The couple will exchange vows at the historic Queen’s Chapel near St James’s Palace in central London.
Amongst the guests will be the Earl of Wessex and Lady Sarah Chatto, both god-parents of the bride, and their partners.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh and other senior royals are not expected to attend.
The wedding comes a few months after the Monarch’s grandson Peter Phillips wed his partner Autumn at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Lady Rose, 28, is the youngest child of the Duke of Gloucester who is a cousin of the Monarch.
While her fiance George, 26, is the son of property developer Peter Gilman, a former director of Leeds United, who was a member of the football club’s board from 1980 to 1996.
The couple have reportedly been living together for the past two years and got engaged last November.
The Queen’s Chapel has already featured in the life of Lady Rose’s family with her brother, the Earl of Ulster, marring his wife Claire in the building in June 2002. (via The Press Association)

Kate attended Lady Rose’s wedding according to this. I hope for pictures soon.
“Kate Middleton attended her second royal wedding of the year without Prince William.
Lady Rose Windsor, who is a relation of the Queen, married George Gilman at the historic Queen’s chapel, near St James’s Palace in central London.
Miss Middleton arrived at the ceremony with two girls, wearing a knee-length satin dress, a duck-egg blue jacket and a black fascinator.”

The Sun has a picture of Kate wearing a pretty blue dress and a light blue jacket.

Yes and she looked very beautiful and happy although I didn’t expect her to go. This is the best news and it’s lets us know that her day is not that far off.

Terrific news, this really makes my Saturday! The light blue is a fabulous color on her, and I feel a more sensible choice for a wedding then the dark blue which she wore to the Peter/Autumn nuptials, which unfortunately photographed as black and many felt was therefore not the best choice, as it’s usually reserved for funerals. Although I did once go to a wedding where the bridesmaids wore now-fasionable black and white stripes, but I digress.
I hate to use that phrase the press has worn out, but given today’s attendance, I think it’s safe to say: Kate’s in the Firm!
Whoo-hoo!

The DM has two more pictures showing Kate’s outfit more clearly. I really like this combination. The light blue jacket is very pretty. Much better than what she wore to Peter’s wedding.

I forgot to add that I LOVE whar Autumn is wearing. That dress is gorgeous and suits her perfectly.
July 19th, 2008 14:05
OMG! Please do not tell me Princess Anne is wearing the exact same dress as she wore to Charles and Diana’s wedding in 1981!
Now that is one thrifty lady!
July 19th, 2008 14:18
Even though I don’t comment on fashion that much, I must say that The Princess Royal is very much in shape and looks good in that dress that she wore to that most famous wedding all those years ago. And with the same hat. Which means that she has not thrown out much of her old dresses.
July 19th, 2008 14:25
Indeed, Rman she is to be commended for keeping herself so very trim! If that is indeed the same dress, it shows she has been able to maintain the exact same figure for some (hard to believe) 27 years now. Astonishing, really!
July 19th, 2008 15:56
Hooray!!! Next, her own wedding soon. Yeah. I wasn’t even expecting her there. Wow!
July 19th, 2008 16:36
I think Autumn’s scarf is a tad bit overkill. Too much with the hat. I am surprised that they even wanted Autumn and Peter to attend without having to worry if she sold photos to mags.

Very nice to see Kate attend this event.I know it is supposed to be a day all about the bride, however it would surely be foolhardy not to expect the woman who will almost surely marry the future monarch to grab a chunk of attention. 2009 will be quite a year I think.
Princess Anne…hmmmm. There is frugal, then there is FRUGAL. Oy.
July 19th, 2008 19:54
Just my own fun prediction: Wills and Kate will marry in May, 2009. Anyone want to make bets on this?
July 19th, 2008 20:05
Jade my gut says you’re right about 2009 but I am wondering if they will schedule it a month or two later, maybe end of Juneish, and have it during the summer school holiday in the UK, so that as many people as possible can line the streets to see the Royal Couple on their very special day!
Anyone here know when the UK schools summer holidays start next year?
July 19th, 2008 21:03
Jade, I think the same thing. I think Kate will spend Christmas with the family this year.
July 20th, 2008 00:09
OMG. catherine middleton looks fresh and nice, she seems to enjoy the company of the royal family, autumn kelly looks pleasant.
July 20th, 2008 04:47
Summer holidays tend to start between the 20th and the 25th in the UK. For independent schools it tends to be earlier.
Kate looked lovely, really beautiful in those pictures.
July 21st, 2008 17:20
I’d say no on that one.

Just leaving a little note from the U.S. Is it true that the reason many wedding cakes throughout the world have three tires is because Saint Bride’s Church in London has a three-tiered spire?
July 22nd, 2008 03:59
Yes, according to Wikipedia that is the case, interesting…
“Standing 69m high, it is the 2nd tallest of all Wren’s churches, with only St Paul’s itself having a higher pinnacle. The tiered spire is said to have been the inspiration for the design of modern tiered wedding cakes.” – Wikipedia
