Kate Middleton legs it at second Royal wedding without her Prince – Daily Mail
Miss Middleton’s floaty knee-length dress caught the wind and defied gravity yesterday as she arrived for the wedding of Lady Rose Windsor. It was reminiscent of the famous scene in Monroe’s classic movie The Seven Year Itch, but Miss Middleton had had the foresight to wear a slip while braving the wind as she walked to Queen’s Chapel, in St James’s Palace in Central London…

Lady Rose Windsor, and Kate Middleton, in bloom – The Times
The bride, who is a film art assistant, wore a tiara that belonged to Queen Mary, the wife of George V and her great grandmother, above a couture white dress for the ceremony at the Queen’s Chapel in St James’s, London. Almost as many eyes were on Kate Middleton who confirmed her growing position in the royal fold by turning up without Prince William, her boyfriend…

Whilte it is nice that Ms. Middleton attended, surely she was not the only guest. Could we have some headlines about — oh I don’t know– the BRIDE. It is her day after all, not Ms. Middleton’s.

If Ms. Middleton does marry Prince William, there will be headlines galore about her. Until then, how about the wedding coverage focus on the actual people getting married? Give them their chance in the sun before it is eclipsed by the marriage of the Heir Presumptive to his long time lady love.

Lady Rose Windsor is not, has never been and will never be the centre of media attention. If it hadn’t been for Kate, I’m sure the British press wouldn’t have bothered reporting about this wedding at all.The engagement announcement went largly unnoticed, I’m sure noone expected the wedding to be treated any differently. So in a way Lady Rose should be happy that due to Kate’s presence she was mentioned in the papers at least in by-passing.

TRIXIE – That’s exactly what I was thinking. I also doubt that Peter and Autumn would have gotten all that publicity if Kate and Chelsy hadn’t been involved or gone to the wedding and if William and Harry had not been part of Peter’s big stag party, although apparently Peter is the Queen’s favorite grandson.
But IMO, none of the “minor” royals get much attention anyway – it’s always going to be about William, Kate, Harry and Chelsy.

I know, it was Lady Rose’s wedding and most of it was about Kate. Seriously, what is up with the press? If I were Kate, I would have told the press to concentrate on the wedding instead-after all, she was representing the royal family, and there was more than one person at the wedding.

I hope Kate realizes that they’re mostly photographing her because she knows Prince William-if she didn’t know him, the press probably wouldn’t bother with her either.

Kate is in no position to tell the English press what to cover and what not. They print what sells and Lady Rose Windsor doesn’t sell papers – Kate Middleton does. And I’m sure she is very much aware of the fact that she is only of interest because of her position in William’s life.
I also don’t think that Kate was there on behalf of the Royal Family. She attended as a regular guest arriving with friends.

Ladies,I think most of us are in agreement that it is the press, not Kate that chooses to propel her onto the front page for merely attending a wedding. Where it seems misplaced to give all the attention to Kate and not the bride, obviously the press, and much of the public,I think are well aware of what the future holds for this young woman and it is news and it is history in the making. I would not expect anything different from this point forward unless something unforeseen happens.I am sure whomever issued the invite was also well aware of the publicity Kate’s presence will bring.

Trixie, I think you hit the nail on the head regarding who sells papers. It is all about what or who sells and the tabloid press will latch onto whatever chance they have to put the person on the cover thats sells the most. They did it with Diana and they are doing it with Kate and they will continue to because the public will respond with their purses.

It seems the press coverage has more to do with status, or in Kate’s case, eventual status then over mere good looks or an interesting personality does.

A beauty like Lady Helen Taylor (the Duke of Kent’s daughter) in theory should have been the tabloid’s dream (blonde and busty — isn’t that what’s usually on their front pages) and yet, maybe because she’s so far from the throne, and didn’t marry a rock star or Russian ogliarch, she isn’t considered a “signifigant” enough Royal to cover that often.

Kate, whilst pretty and most likely a very pleasant person, would not be getting this kind of coverage if she was dating Freddie Windsor or another minor Royal.

Nice couple, lovely family, great Kate but not perfect. Now I agree she has loose too much weight and the small breasts she had has gone out with it. She needs to gain weight which Peter Philips seems has already did. Doesn’t he seems a little fat? Look to his ways towards Autumn and his apparently bad-humor: as he wasn’t William everything is right, but you know what would be the comments if it was William…

I don’t know if Peter Philips has an apparent bad humor, but yes from the pics both Autumn and Peter look a slight bit chubbier, happy marriage, let eat ! :)

That’s why I said “apparently”. I don’t belive he was, but at weddings the guests use smille for the pics. Just it.

    I totally agree with you.
I think KM is getting too much attention from the media for her current status rather than because of her own personality. I do think she is a classy and beautiful woman (i love the way she dresses) and intelligent with a good personality but these are not the characteristics that are making her steal the limelight.

She may cook him alot of meals and Tom Parker Bowles said his mother is a very good cook too so I think Camilla cooks for Charles on occasions. I agree Sonia but I think William wants her to keep a low profile until he gets back and he and she decides that it’s time for her to show her interest. We only see her a couple of times and that drives the press crazy but things are changing in a good pace. Not too fast and not too slow but at a appropraite pace. Kate’s appearence at the wedding spoke a lot of volumes, not just because she is friends with Lady Rose but because of her status of being the long time companion of William’s and I’m sure Harry & Chelsy would have been there too if they weren’t in Africa. All I can do is continue to wish them luck and it’s nice to see things going so well. I’m glad Kate’s boss said good things about Kate and let everryone know that she is a very down to earth girl and doing good with such a high profile relationship. Not many people would be able to handle this. People and the press can write what they please about Kate but she always come out strong in the end.

Sonia I thought you hated Kate. I agree with you in everything and Rman about the attention she recives, but I hope no one is thinking it’s happen b/c she wants. To me it shows how superficial they (the press) are.

When did I say that I hated Kate. I rather say that I am neutral to her. I say things the way I think they are and it doesn’t matter whether they are good or bad things.
