Kate Middleton flys economy to Princely Reunion

Prince William’s girlfriend Kate Middleton amazed airline staff by refusing an upgrade to first class.

She insisted on being treated as a regular passenger when she flew to Barbados to meet Wills.

The humble 26-year-old then asked British Airways cabin crew: “Please call me Kate.”

A BA source said: “She may be dating the future king but she’s so down to earth. It’s the first time we have had a passenger turn down the chance of an upgrade.”

A first-class ticket with bed for the 6,000-mile flight is worth £7,000.

She joins William, 26, this week after he leaves warship HMS Iron Duke.

They are due to spend next week on the Caribbean island of Mustique. Brother Harry, 23, is planning to spend time in South Africa with his girlfriend Chelsy Davy, 22. (via The Sun)

hello catherine middleton, for twice you go trip to Carribean Island after 2007 right? you so lucky cause Wills bring you in there and to pay for you too, so lucky your life lady, i’m so envy to hear that cause you can traveling to a whole world because of Wills. but i’m happy that you so down to earth for everybody, that’s feature of Princess of wales next of Britain. oh yeah, my greeting for Wills okay, i hope his know me too ha..ha..

She is a wise girl for refusing that upgrade. Can you imagine what some people would have said if she had taken it? She seems to have a good head on her shoulders.

However, she was probably offered the upgrade because she was recognized as Miss Middleton, thus the call me kate comment fits in. Usually they just say “ma’am or sir” I thought. She was clever not to have taken it as it would have appeared to some people to be just taking advantage of a public status. On the other hand, they do offer upgrades sometimes, so it is a shame that she has to refuse just to keep up appearances. Essential to but a shame.

Yeah I could imagine, the usual bashing and ripping. But they still bash and rip because of the “call me Kate” and that she is not humble, and the usual WTF.

Exactly Me. If she was genuinely just living off the RF, I could understand it but the air hostess probably thought that Kate would become a novelty/ centre of attention and would be made to feel uncomfortable if she was recognized in the other section where there were more people. In the upgrade section or first class, there would be less people so it would be more private for her/.

    Hello all,

Look doesn’t really matter what we,they or anyone now says, the die is cast.

They are together (we hope) and any permanent arrangements will or will not happen.

Don’t fuel speculation, don’t mention IT, hardly think about IT let them get on with their lives and we’ll get orn with ours.

    What do you say ?

Rman, IMO the highlight of the article is not the Queen itself tumbling, but the illegal immigrant where I’m sure many government officials will raise eyebrows. There has been problems with employment - unemployment of UK nationals vs the employment of illegal immigrants.

    This may bring fire…

Ked, I doubt people, both press and interested public who follow royalty, will stop gossiping, speculating about and specially on PW and KM. The later sells more than the first.

    Hello,

Have you noticed that comments made on here are repeated on other sites as their own comments and sometimes even repeated in national press by ‘royal’ reporters.

The comments on other sites are within 10 to 15 mins after comments here (allowing for time differences) and some even make it into their ‘editorials’ together with some disgusting comments about a well loved but deceased person for which no apology was made to my knowledge.

Yes, many of us have noticed that Ked.

    - Watie Katie was originated by a poster (hater) in the Internet Royal Forum.

    - other journalist articles have grabbed pieces and parts from here, royalanecdotes, internet royal forum.

    - Ideas have been copied, the nasty ones more likely.

    - The Diana discussion is divided, seems KM also has a divided group of 3 kinds.

and no one will or should finger point directly and say “I know who you are”.

Stalking, internet security, playing nicely, etc.

Although the breaking the rules of each site should be followed, don’t you think ? Many posters give up, are banned, move on.

Neil Sean from FoxNews said “Now here is something you won’t read anywhere else: Prince William will be having more secret dancing lessons later in the year. Why? It would appear that he is “light on his feet,“ but as yet has not mastered all the required dances he may need while king.”

Now I don’t know if that is true because The Queen and other royals don’t seem to dance much at offical occasions. Now I do know that they dance at the Ghillies’ Ball each year at Balmoral. But William may bring back dancing at State Banquets again. Do you guys remember when Charles & Diana use to love dancing together? Now you don’t see Charles whisking Camilla around a dance floor.

They will continue to call her that until there’s a announcement. It’s a dumb name but what can you do about that, the press is crazy. It is said that she recieved the royal treatment and waited in a VIP lounge. It also say that she and William will be guest at a party next week.

  • B
    August 1st, 2008 04:18

I don’t know anything about the armed forces but are civilians e.g. girlfriends allowed onto the ships like the Iron Duke???

Well, I don’t know what to believe about Kate and her travelling. I can understand her going into the VIP section, I do and I am not followed by the press. However, the polic escort seems to excessive to be true. She has been around an airport before and there have been photos of her with her family at the airport and she has never looked to harrassed by people; she should be used to the photographers by now. I don’t think I believe that comment by Richard Kay, I think it is slight exagerration.

Waitie Katie is a cruel name, but whilst I do not agree with it I can understand why people call her that; even if it is cruel to call anyone a name. I do think she deserves a bit more respect than that, even if she does not work and appears to be waiting for William to propose, she still has feelings and does not deserve to be cruelly treated as if she does not.

  • mapleleaf
    August 1st, 2008 08:20

B, I agree with you about the respect thing. I think Kate Middleton deserves a lot more respect than that.
Who are the media to call her names based on what they imagine is happening in her personal love relationship? They\’re calling her \”Waitey Katey as if they actually know what\’s going on in her life.

IMO it\’s a rude, snarky and obnoxious name to call her. ;) But I get the feeling Kate Middleton is able to let the whole name-calling thing go without getting upset because SHE\’S the one that gets to cuddle and snuggle with her beautiful boy (Wills) when she wants to, not the media.

I\’d bet in Kate\’s estimation that one single fact outweighs absolutely anything the media could say.

  • B
    August 1st, 2008 08:49

I agree that she has done well to carry on the way she has but I don’t think she has had much of a choice really. At the end of the day, mapleleaf is right, she is the one who sleeps with William, who loves him and who is loved by him and nobody can take those facts away no matter how hard they try. Only William or Kate can change their relationship, the media only acts as a spoilt child trying to influence people.

  • Rman
    August 1st, 2008 12:22

You guys are so right, she’s the one and it seems like William is telling everybody that she is the one. But there’s a mystery about them and it’s human nature to want to solve a mystery so the people who write these press stories want to solve the royal mystery that surrounds William & Kate. I think it’s great that she went to see him and spend some time with him. If all this is true, then like always, I hope they have a great time. If they go to the party then I hope we at least get a picture of the royal couple. William is doing a great job trying to prepare himself for his future role and he has someone by his side that understands it and very much there to support him. The Queen see this and is very pleased.

  • gracie
    August 1st, 2008 15:46

I don’t think Kate is waiting for him to propose, because after five years with no marriage proposal I think the relationship would have stalled. IMO I think he is not allowed to marry until certain events happen first, like military training, order of the garter, etc. Because of he will be king on day, I would imagine that the Queen has strict guidlines for him. William seems to be accomplishing so much that it makes me wonder if he is indeed planning to wed. Just a hunch! The Queen has been training him since day one for his future, now all he needs is some fine tunning. God forbid, that the Queen should die soon, William and Charles have to be ready at a phone calls notice. Seems to me that Charles should have done some of the extra training that William is getting.

    gracie,

Just my theory but I think William & Kate worked out when they’d get married last year after their reunion. Common sense says that William wouldn’t have gotten back with her if that wasn’t the case. He would have stayed single & tried to find another relationship. He’s not like most men who can just date or have long term relationships if they choose. He has to get married eventually. Wouldn’t seem like a good idea to waste time with someone you have no future with.

Rebecca English just wrote the most crazy story of all time. Just to point this out, William has never moved out of Clarence House and we all know that St. James’s Palace is on the top of the list for William to setup his office and he will have his own team. Now read this story.

    Rman,

My mouth dropped open when I read that. Huh? When did Prince William leave Clarence House? Oh, that’s right. NEVER. This article is complete rubbish. She states how some will get the idea that Wills wants to put off the engagement for 12 months because he’s moving back to CH. Well, William never left so that’s 1 lie. Even if he had moved out and was now moving back in why would that delay an engagement for a year? Rebecca English sure doesn’t bother to tell us. You know I need to move to London & apply for a job with the DM. It can’t be that hard!

Forgot something. Did anybody notice the insane anonymous quote at the end about why William would continue, according to Rebecca English, to share the apartment with Harry at Clarence House? Wait for it… it’s because all the other palaces are full! You heard right. Buckingham Palace, Kensington, St James’s, even Windsor Castle. They are all filled up. Now I know to take anything the DM says with 2 truckloads of salt instead of just 1.

Now the DM got an article about Prince Michael and his lovers. It could be a load of crap, but he is seen ascorting different women w/o wife to functions. It just seems reasonable to think that William might have a lover too, if he and Kate marry. Just like Charles and all the others generations ago. To be so cocky as to flaunt your mistress around town while be married! I hope that William learned what not to do in a relationship by watching his parents marriage fall apart. Like others have said on this blog, his in to deep, I think, to back out of this. Kate in Vanity Fair on cover of Hello. It would be a huge PR mess for him to do so. That is why I don’t believe the negative hype. They just need to get this engagement announced even if they don’t marry till 2010.

  • gracie

Maybe the press is not pleased with the RF because they toy around with them. So they have nothing that will sell papers unless its scandelous. What kind of job do they expect
William to get? I think his job should be to assure the public that there is still a need for the RF and to do this I think he needs to start doing more of what his mother did. Yet, it is important that he finds a cause that he really can dig into and enjoys. That’s what made Diana so unique, she loved working with disadvantage people. Charles seems to be more in his element working with the enviromental stuff and seems uncomfortable greeting the downtrotted. IMO I think it best if they work as a team and not get to carried away with whose getting the most press-more Charles than William. Anyway, why no photos? If they are truly in the Carribean I think they should have got snapped by now. To many paps out that way not to have caught them. I bet they have headed somewhere totally different.

  • lisa
    August 2nd, 2008 07:30

Gracie,I think that papers like the DM and the other tabloidish ones frustrated by the lack of official information they get from the RF. Take the Hello mag fiasco. They were so desperate for pictures of Kate and Chelsy at the wedding that they had to show people reading Hello mag to get the pictures. If you compare Brad and Angelina a moment here…they have a very healthy relationship with People mag here in the US,”selling” them the rights to the photos of their kids and getting them accurate, timely information on their lives. They work with them. The royal family does not work with the DM. In six years,Kate Middleton has not said “boo” to them or any other tabloid so they make stuff up,plain and simple. The truth is that they don’t have a clue as to what is going on. The engagement announcement, whenever it comes, will be as much of a surprise to the DM as it will be to the general public. Only reliable outlets such as the BBC may have a brief advance warning so they can prepare, but thats it. IMO, of course. :)

that prince william has just been playing to be an army officer is not a surprise because this is the way it is with rich titled people. They have their servants to the work for them. In this case, William and the RF are the over privileged, rich, titled people who give orders and make decisions, and the English people are their puppets, servants, who feed them (by paying taxes), and do the dirty work for them (like fighting in wars, and blah blah). This is they way it is in all countries with monarchies. In reality the only benefit I see with having monarchy is just for the country’s history and for tourism, mmmmm… I doub it because I read in a article that it ranks in the 7th place for attracting tourism in England. Other than that, I see no other benefit with having monarchy. The queen and the RF are just a zero to the left.
