Prince William and Prince Harry plan to ride in an off-road motorcycle rally in Africa to support charity.

Clarence House, their official home in London, announced Wednesday that the two sons of Prince Charles will go to South Africa later this month to join the Enduro Africa 08 event.

The princes said the funds raised through their participation would be divided among UNICEF, the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and Sentebale, a charity established by Prince Harry.

You know guys I was thinking that it would be great if William & Harry posed for a magazine with their girlfriends. They could give a little interview on how they met?, what they think of the media interest? and what they like to do for fun? Don’t you think that would be great for them to do that? They could address certain issues, and give us a little hint on what the future holds.

I think this is the reason why the tabs start to invent stories about them is because the Prince’s never say anything and their girlfriends are very much unknown people.

  • Trixie #4 - October 9, 2008 at 2:27 pm

I don’t think a magazine deal would be a good idea. The media would only profit and have succeeded in bullying them into giving them exclusive material.
However they could put pics and an interview video online for everyone to see. :-D Half of Chelsy’s pics are on facebook already anyways. ;-)

  • Rman #5 - October 9, 2008 at 2:41 pm

Yeah I agree Trixie, but I like your idea too. I just think certain things need to be addressed and it would be fun to see a video of them, letting us know that they like to keep their personal life to themseleves but how they deal with the media following them everywhere they go and etc. They could create great pictures too. I mean it was great when Princess Beatrice gave a interview for Tatler and she commented on her divorced parents. She said they are the happiest divorced parents she know. Now you can’t speculate on how they feel about their parents because they have voiced their opinion and we know where they stand but William & Harry say nothing and you begin to think their girlfriends are mute. lol. I don’t know, I think it would be a great idea for them to give the public a little something.

  • Me #6 - October 9, 2008 at 2:45 pm

They (PW/PH) already did that, they DON’T like the press, almost all the press say is an invention, etc.

  • Trixie #7 - October 9, 2008 at 2:51 pm

LoL, I just had a mental image of a mute Princess holding a “speech”…

While it would certainly be nice for them to put the record straight, I very much doubt it will ever happen (maybe if we get an engagement interview) and in a way it would also show weakness on their part. They would become prone to “blackmailing” by the press… whenever the papers feel like they don’t get enough inside scoops they can just write crap till the Princes decide to put another video online – they may as well hold a monthly press conference declaring and explaining their every move. It won’t help and will only robb them off the little privacy they have left.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m dying to see some new pics of Will and Kate … and I wished all the waiting and speculating was over, but I don’t think William, Kate or anyone owes us an explanation.

  • Trixie #8 - October 9, 2008 at 2:54 pm

… forgot to add that I am as nosy and curious as anyone and would LOVE to be in the know of everything William and Kate – alas it’s not meant to be :-(

  • Apryl #9 - October 9, 2008 at 3:04 pm

Kate seems to like magazines quite a whole lot. I bet she would love to do one.

  • Rman #10 - October 9, 2008 at 3:13 pm

Well I guess you are right Trixie. I guess we will never get that much out of the Prince’s and their girlfriends. But it would be nice to get something other than the press inventions. The press inventions seem to be what got us all upset over W&K. I mean these people can push your buttons and they just get away with it. I’m surprised they aren’t coming up with something now.

  • Rman #11 - October 9, 2008 at 3:17 pm

Apryl, Kate seem to be focusing on working and making the press stop dubbing her silly names. I really don’t think them posing for a picture would be all that bad but maybe them laying low is for the best.

  • ked #12 - October 9, 2008 at 3:26 pm

    Hello,

I think there is a need for PW to learn a few basic facts of life.

For instance , humility and the acceptance that with privilege comes responsibility and respect especially when it concerns future subjects. He will never command respect until he drops his arrogant and wilful attitude to anything he doesn’t agree with.

His mother was badly treated by the press so he therefore resents and abhors them for that treatment but even Diana knew how to work the press and the sooner he understands that if he worked with them he could in part control them and possibly prevent the way he, and at present KM , are treated by them.

I do sometimes wonder how much of KM’s persecution by the media is their way of getting back at a soft spot in PW’s self erected armoury.

It’s an old adage, if you can’t beat them, join them.

  • gracie #13 - October 9, 2008 at 3:44 pm

Ked, so what news of KM will satisfy her fans?

  • Rman #14 - October 9, 2008 at 3:51 pm

oh boy what did I start, lol.

  • gracie #15 - October 9, 2008 at 3:55 pm

Well, something is going on. There must be a press ban because no one is saying anything or atleast not yet.

  • Me #16 - October 9, 2008 at 3:58 pm

A ban and a promise of a ribbon in the gates of BP

  • Rman #17 - October 9, 2008 at 4:06 pm

I agree Ked and Gracie. But even though Charles & Diana often said things that should have never come out of their mouths, they made an effort of saying something. I was looking at the doc Charles, The Private Man, The Public Role on YouTube and he mentioned in a interview that he wished that his separation from Diana and the things that led to it never happened. That was the best thing he has ever said. But sadly that statement is never put out there and only the confession part. So yes I think William & Harry could say something and still remain private about things. But that’s just my opinion, I do respect that they have all remain silent so far.

  • Rman #18 - October 9, 2008 at 5:06 pm

There’s a new book out by Ingrid Seward called William & Harry, The People’s Princes. I hear it’s very interesting.

  • lisa #19 - October 9, 2008 at 6:53 pm

Rman the book is due out in march of next year and can be pre ordered from Amazon for $23.10.

  • Apryl #20 - October 10, 2008 at 4:46 am

its better to help than they help you.

  • alsgal #22 - October 10, 2008 at 9:46 am

Hey now, has anybody noticed that the money W&H will raise in Africa is going to Sentebale, Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and Unicef? :)

Harry’s charity is of. course, Setebale but

William has no prior association with the latter two charities –

    however, Kate does. :)

(Photography exhibit she organised for Unicef and the NM concert she attended alone.)

I think this means they still must be “on.” :)

  • Trixie #23 - October 10, 2008 at 11:30 am

    Good catch that one, alsgal.
Btw. has William ever visited Harry’s Sentabale project?

  • alsgal #24 - October 10, 2008 at 12:59 pm

Thanks, Trixie. :) There’s hope yet for all of us diehard Kate fans!

Not sure if PW has ever visited Sentebale — perhaps he managed to get over there during one of his Kenya trips — however, I think there would have been some publicity if he had as that would have been too good a PR opportunity to pass up.

  • Rman #25 - October 10, 2008 at 2:22 pm

Alsgal, I have no doubt that they are still on.

  • Rman #26 - October 10, 2008 at 5:17 pm

Thanks for letting me know that Lisa.

  • lisa #27 - October 10, 2008 at 6:32 pm

I am curious why she is waiting til march to release this book. You would think she would want the holiday sales. I have a feeling she is waiting to see what happens in regards to William and Kate over the holidays or just after. She may even have a version of the book ready to include Kate if something is announced.

  • Rman #28 - October 10, 2008 at 6:45 pm

Maybe, we just have to wait and see.

  • Rman #29 - October 10, 2008 at 6:47 pm

It’s funny how all the royal news is so silent.

  • lisa #30 - October 10, 2008 at 6:53 pm

It really is. It feels like something is brewing. Hopefully something good. :)

  • gracie #31 - October 10, 2008 at 7:21 pm

I thought the DM article about PC and Kanga was very interesting. I wonder how PC and Camilla will feel about it? I am surprised by the story as it serves no reveliance as it is old, but tragic still.

  • Rman #32 - October 10, 2008 at 7:57 pm

Yes that is a tragic story.

  • H #33 - October 11, 2008 at 3:05 pm

I was looking at the blog of some-one finishing the Enduro Africa 2008 trek & at the end of todays post they say

“By the way, Princes William and Harry will be joining Enduro Africa 2008 from Port Edward to back to Port Elizabeth.”

The organisers have obviously split it so that half of the participants do Port Elizabeth to Port Edward (which takes 8 days) & half then do Port Edward to Port Elizabeth. From another blog I saw, those doing the 2nd trip are leaving the UK on Weds 15th Oct, so the 12 day UK to UK trip starts then – the trip itself will start on the following Saturday. So they will be back in time from the James Bond premiere.

  • Trixie #34 - October 11, 2008 at 3:10 pm

…thanks for the info H. So they start next Wednesday and should still be in the UK now …

  • gracie #35 - October 11, 2008 at 3:26 pm

I would hope that their security would not give the exact day which they start, even if that is what a blogger says. Word might have gotten around to PW and PH security and Enduro Africa that they were going earlier and so they are throwing different days around and telling the other bikers different days so as to not make them a target. They still could be there now or arriving on a different day than blogger stated. IMO. Thanks for the info H!

  • lisa #36 - October 11, 2008 at 4:27 pm

So I wonder what fictional piece of bird cage liner by Katie Nicholl we will be treated to this weekend…I figure it will be one of the following…William and Kate break up OR William and Kate to Marry OR Kate must wait 10 years while William goes on extended africian safari after his rescue trainning….which will it be ;)

  • gracie #37 - October 11, 2008 at 5:53 pm

Lisa, she will write something. I am a little surprised that the DM is messing w/Charles and Camilla. Usually they go after the younger royals, especially Kate and Chelsy. It’s very odd, cause usually the press would be speculating about Kate and William relationship by now. The press has been way to quiet about all of this. I don’t get it.

  • lisa #38 - October 11, 2008 at 6:05 pm

Is it foolhardy to think that maybe William’s new PR guy has stepped and got them press to back off a bit?

  • gracie #39 - October 11, 2008 at 6:07 pm

Lisa, it would be nice to think so.

  • alsgal #40 - October 11, 2008 at 7:28 pm

Gracie, hello to you :) and I agree, it would be nice if they backed off of W&K a bit, although I am always delighted to hear stories of their romance!

However, if the new PR guy had anything to do with this, I somehow doubt the DMail would be running a Kanga piece instead, as that is hardly flattering to PC, the guy who is paying Miguel Head’s salary.

Me thinks the journos are unsure of what’s going on, and everyone is waiting until the 60th birthday celebrations.

My hunch is we won’t see Kate at the BP party, but we will hear about William and Kate very much in love and together at the Highgrove party. I wonder if she will wear Issa?

It would be delightful to hear that her parents had been invited as well, as that would seem the perfect opportunity to introduce the Middleton’s to Charles and Camilla’s oldest friends.

    Keeping those fingers crossed …

more on Kate and Party Pieces
    http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/54352/Kate-toils-at-parents-firm/

“She arrives in her Audi A3 before 9am every day and works through without even a break for lunch.

And she’s often still there slaving at 6.30pm when the rest of the staff have disappeared.

Kate has become a key executive at the firm in Bucklebury, Berks, where she’s in charge of website design and getting new business.

A friend said: “She was very upset over the criticism. She isn’t lazy but like a lot of graduates she’s found the jobs market pretty tough to crack.”

  • gracie #42 - October 12, 2008 at 7:19 am

Alsgal, I agree. I think the press does not know what’s going on, but I am still surprised that they are not speculating as they have always done. I don’t know how Kate manages to go unseen for this long of a period. I don’t expect any news until Charles b-day as well. It’s going to be slow around here!

  • mariskaagusta #43 - October 19, 2008 at 7:41 am
