Pink has taken on the British royal family in a row over animal rights.

The ‘So What’ singer is livid that neither The Queen nor Prince William have replied to her letters demanding that the royal guards bearskins be replaced with synthetic materials, and that the Prince quit bloodsports.

She said: “It’s a bit rude that they didn’t reply isn’t it? I don’t get why we can’t question people just because of their position in society.

I don’t care if they have a crown. One or two Canadian bears are killed to make each hat and that is totally unnecessary”. (via NME)

I do not know whether I shall laugh or be furious about the obvious ignorance of this person. Did she honestly believe she’d get a personal reply by HM or William to one of her hate letters? Who does she think she is or is she dumb enough to think the Queen reads every letter ever written to her and then has the time to reply. Does she understand that HM is head-of-state of several countries? Would she have expected a reply from President Bush?

Does she reply to all her fans ?

Oh, but she is a STAR, so therefore everything she says and does is important. How DARE their Royal Highnesses ignore her?

Seriously, this woman needs to stick to singing.

Rosetta, I so agree with you! :) Pink sounds like just another one of the run of the mill self-important celebrities, more ego than talent IMO.

Wow.What a wanker. A few years ago, I wrote a letter to her and she didn’t reply.

    She’s horrid.

Pink is right. She doesn’t expect the Majesty to reply back but I think something should be done. And Pink is not one of the run of the mill celebs. She doesn’t care about fame or money or what anyone thinks about her. She’s doing this because she really cares about animal rights.

    Publicity stunt

The animal rights group that she belongs to, PETA, is a terrorist organisation. They pretend to want “the ethical treatment of animals”. They don’t believe animals ever hurt each other (have they ever seen a tiger or been to the zoo?). They have also been known to bomb/attack places like animal testing facilities where innocent (non-involved) people got hurt and so did the animals they want to “protect.”

There are plenty of ways to protect animals that don’t involve the acts of terrorism against humans promoted by PETA. They do other stuff but I don’t have time to list it here. Not good people, although they have good PR and ignorant celebs get involved.

I disagree with hunting if you don’t use the animals, i.e. you leave them dead and throw them away. I believe you should use the entire animal you kill; therefore, fur coats and hats are good because they don’t waste the animal’s fur.

I’m with merrick on this one. Although I like Pink’s voice and I like her music, the whole “writing to the royals” thing is major crap. If Pink doesn’t believe in wearing fur, well good for her. She doesn’t have to wear it.

But she also doesn’t have the right to tell the royals what to do, or to demand that they change a process that has existed for almost 200 years just because SHE feels that it isn’t right. Pink can only govern herself. It’s nice that she cares about animal rights, but that’s her issue and her cause, not the royals.

She can’t just push her views off onto them, and then get angry or annoyed when she doesn’t get a response to her inappropriately pushy attitude.

More importantly, I wish PETA would freakin’ do their homework! No bears are killed to get the fur for the hats the guards wear, the fur comes from Canadian bears that have died of natural causes. As for the complaint against bloodsports, Pink might as well beat her head against a brick wall. (it will get results faster for her and maybe knock some sense into her whilst she’s at it. ;) )

The Royal Family has engaged in blood sport for the last 1200 years, why the heck should they stop just because some weird pop star wants them to?

    Good post mapleleaf.

I agree with you leogirl about hunting. If they plan to leave the animal once it has died that’s wrong, but if they plan to use the animal e.g. for food, clothing etc. that’s acceptable (providing that the animal was killed in a humane manner). Farmers kill their own animals to eat (or send them to that place where they kill them), it is almost part of nature. Animals kill other animals for food and technically we are animals as well, as long as the animal does not suffer I don’t have a problem with it.
