Prince Harry to commence Army Chopper training

Prince HarryPrince Harry was on cloud nine last night after overcoming the first hurdle in his battle to become a Top Gun helicopter pilot.

Jubilant Harry, 24, was told he can train to be a chopper ace — after passing a selection course with flying colours.

Half of wannabe copter pilots fail the Army Air Corps “grading” tests — which for the past month have seen the Prince flying in small Firefly training planes.

But Harry — whose dream is to pilot fearsome Apache attack helicopters — was said by sources to be a “natural” just like his brother William.

Yesterday he was called before a board at the Army Air Corps’ HQ in Middle Wallop, Hants, to be given the good news. He will start learning to pilot helicopters next month.

Clarence House said last night: “Grading assessed his aptitude for Army flying training and his ability to learn at the required rate. The Army Air Corps course on which Prince Harry will now embark lasts up to 2½ years.”

The Prince will train with the AAC on attachment from the Household Cavalry’s Blues and Royals regiment. (via The Sun)
