While I am sorry this happened, I just have to get this off my chest. Chelsy claims she felt “suffocated” by the constant scrutiny faced by the Royal Family. Yet, she herself took a bit of advantage of her connection. I am sorry, but a law student at Leeds, rather than Oxford or Cambridge, is NOT getting an internship at the Queen’s Solicitors without a bit of help. So, she took the internship. Did two week, then jetted off for a holiday. Then ooops, broke up with her boyfriend — which had supposedly been in the works for a while. If she knew the break was coming, why not refuse the internship?
Yes, I am being mean. But, it does look to me like she took advantage.

According to the press they were “trying” to work out their problems and couldn’t. I don’t see anything wrong with her doing the internship??

I take it that they were still together at the time of the internship. So, of course she had to do this. Perhaps in the evening they tried to make their relationship work. But why should she have turned down the internship – prophylactical??
I think she tried to make it work, but sometimes good will and love are not enough. And no, I would be surprised if she would talk. She never did in the past and she certainly does not need the money. I think she is much to classy for that.

Why does everyone assume that it was her alleged RF connections that she was allegedly exploiting? Assuming that she did get both internships through connections, why not her own family? Her father is a wealthy businessman and I am sure has retained counsel in the UK to protect his interests. Also, the firm at which she was offered a permanent position, were not the RF solicitors, according to my understanding of the situation.

I must say I’m relieved at the breakup. Harry is a royal Prince, and his first duty is to crown and country, and that’s the way it is always going to be for him. He can’t change who he is. There are lots of perks for being a royal, but on the other side there are lots of duties and expectations he must live up to.
If Chelsey can’t handle that reality, they should not be together. Perhaps being from South Africa she didn’t quite understand his position in life.
Kate Middleton seems to be a much better bet as a royal girlfriend. It looks like she has found a way to work and at the same time be with William, and is flexible to accommodate William’s needs. We must remember that William is not a typical 26-year-old, he is training to be king of the world’s top monarchy. He is going to devote his life to serving the British people. Everything else has to come second. Kate is doing her part by supporting him as he works toward becoming the man he is destined to be, not getting in the way of it. She must have an excellent understanding of his position, as well as a lot of affection for him, to do this.

Janey, I agree. Although I am sad that Harry’s relationship ended. But it’s true what you said about Kate. I mean that is a very strong woman and I think she knows the rules of the royal world very well.

It’s an interesting article Rman. Thanks for posting the link. It implies that it really takes a certain type of woman to marry into the house of Windsor or to want to marry into the house of Windsor.
I really hope that things work out with Kate and William. & if there is hope for Harry and Chelsy I hope they get back together too. It’s not going to be easy to find a loyal loving willing wife. Hanger ons sure but solid future good luck..

Thank you. I did take a gander at the Starlight section of the Party Pieces website but I do not believe the girl on the left is Kate, although the woman in the center does look a lot like Carole Middleton, albeit with fewer highlights.
Lovely work they’ve been doing for years and years for Starlight and nice of them to let us all know this particular year about it. Just terrific!

I thought the CD stories would fade out, but they keep a coming! In all the ones I have read they usually bring KM into to it, which portrays her as plain, not to bright, no ambitions and content w/waiting for something that may never be. Other than the recent cluster of photos. KM was starting to become somewhat of an enigma. Now that she has returned to her recluse mode, the press continue to through jabs at her in a story that she has nothing to do with. This leads me to believe that KM is no closer to marriage than me losing the extra 10lbs I’ve gained. If so, she would have been defended or PR would have stepped in. Is this a way for PW to finally be free of her, hoping she would have enough? Now CD has become “Joan of Arc” for saying no to the clutches of the RF! Maybe she will free KM too while she’s at it. I’d atleast like to know if the girl goes to the grocery store or get her hair done. What else are people suppose to think of her? She was lively woman who was on the move and enjoyed going to the races, theatre and sometimes clubbing and now she is never seen and works from her parents home. Great, but does she ever go out or is she off limits to the paps? It looks more and more like she is either selling her sole to the monarchy or she is having a severe breakdown, or being punished for something. I think her spirit has been broke and its sad that the press continue to make folly of her cause they don’t know her reasons for hiding out. She put herself there, but I don’t think she would ask for all this.

Gracie, KM is not giving the media muach at the moment so they have nothing better to do but throw jabs at her. This don’t mean that Kate is not close to a engagement but they are trying to get something out of her. You know, push her buttons a bit. I think the media wants to know what makes her tick because it seems like nothing bothers her and she’s not giving them a show. The truth is we don’t know what Kate do other than work. People think because we don’t see her that must mean she do nothing but stay at home and work. I don’t think that is the case. I have to admit that she is getting pretty good at moving around the place without people knowing and I get the feeling that some members of the media knows but aren’t telling us. She is learning from the best (William & Harry) because sometimes we don’t know what they are doing either. Kate is like President Barack Obama a bit. Throughout the campaign , Obama was always attacked by the media, fellow politicians etc but no matter what people said about him, he kept his cool and stayed focused. You don’t know what makes him tick and we don’t know what makes Kate tick. It is said that she hates the name “Waity Katie” but when she’s in public, she keeps on smiling and walking with confidence. Some bloggers call her a doormat, she is being used, she’s at home nursing a broken heart etc but she keeps on going. It’s like the media and internet bloggers can’t get under her skin so that get under their skin. Now Gracie I have to admit that I would like to see more of her and see some more of the special qualities she has. Hopefully we will see that soon.

without much info to go on, my .02 is that CD’s facial expressions and demeanor suggest she was left in the lurch; either that, or she cared deeply for PH and is really hurting but felt it necessary to end things; quite frankly, PH doesn’t do much for me, he seems quite immature and challenged by the idea of total commitment…
it’s hard to know why the RF is not responding to all the innuendo and gossip about PW…
and of course it’s been perplexing all along why PW doesn’t come to KM’s defense as she experiences continual media criticism…..
otherwise, Rman, it was widely noted in the press that the media did not criticize President Obama! whereas the media was all over Hillary!

I fully agree with that, Gracie! I started to follow the British royal family (william, kate, harry and chelsy mostly) since I saw the concert for Diana in 2007 by the tv (I’m from Brazil) … and when I began to search the internet I remember chelsy was portrayed as a knob of smoke, dumb blonde, WAG … I don’t think she is, but she isn’t so perfect (nobody is) ! Just because she is studying law does not mean that it is better than all other students and the person most spectacular of the world.
My mother has 37 years, also studying law (she is making her second course) and she have to manage the house, to be wife, mother (I have 16 years and my sister 11, so we still take a share of her time) .. . She will finish her course in June 2010. That was just one example that there are many people who study hard (I am suspicious of talk, but …)
I have nothing against her and I always think she and harry a cute couple, but that’s just what I see. Either way Chelsy has merits to be studying and she can be happy achieving her goals
I remember that in 2007 I was impressed with Kate, not only for what they said in the press, but whatever, I just like her
now she is treated as being the worst person in the world (the roles are reversed) I think she have made mistakes but, as everyone, (me,you, chelsy, william, harry) she is not perfect. maybe she is just confused about what career followed, as many other people around the world … I hope that one day she and William get married;)
Nobody is obliged to like her, but I think you should have some limits to attitudes and comments. People can talk about their views without being cruel ..
I love this site because people are quite neutral and have good arguments. I love also the post of Alsgal, so fun!

All these articles say Kate Middleton is living at her parents’ house. Last I knew she had an apartment in London with her sister. Does anybody here know the answer?
Also — speaking on living with their parents, don’t Harry and William live at Clarence House where their father lives? Separate apartments, yes, but in the same building.

Hello,
Seems Ive missed lots over past few days but I am surprised so many regulars are dismayed by therevelations in the programme on the Princes.
There is absolutely nothing new in the programme that hasn’t been mentioned and usually discussed on BRW,so we should have been immune to it.
Months ago I mentioned in a post that KM appeared to have been acting as a stalking horse and all and sundry dropped on me from a great hight. I also said that PW in particular needed to realise that with Privilege of birth came the Responsibility to his future subjects as well as to KM.
When I said PW was giving the impression that he would very much like to abdicate his responsibility to the throne , it now seems that his mother also thought that PH would be the better candidate for sovereignty then again I was chastised.
The fact that PW suddenly changed direction to enlist for a 4-5 year term in S and R was deemed by many to have been planned for months. The RF from HM downwards were absolutely staggered despite the news that PC had encouraged him to do it.
PW’s ‘other activities’ of whatever nature had also been alluded to and discussed but ridiculed especially at the weekend of PP’s stag party when more went on that was acknowledged but hinted about in various reports. That weekend caused a fair amount of unhappiness in various quarters.
AS far as PW/KM are concerned that programme has made absolutely no difference to the state of their relationship but has unfortunately now concentrated miinds on individual problems that had been known about in dribs and draps but now seem so much larger because they have all be brought together in an hours programme and are seemingly important. Most have ben sorted over the months and the result at the end will be the same as has always been expected.
What it may do is remind people that things are not happening in the next few months but will in all probability eventually happen in the next 5 – 6 years.
Remember, before the news of PH/CD and this programme came out the authoritative leaks of PW’s plans for KM were widely reported. This may well have been the closest CH and PW will come to confirming the relationship and following on from the ‘council of war’ at Birkhill and then Bucklebury.

I don’t think they will wait 5-6 years, something is telling me that it will happen sooner and that is currently in the process of being worked out. That new team wasn’t quickly put together for nothing. I also think something was discussed at Sandringham too.

I cant believe, the way newspapers are making the PH/CD split a true story! There is absolutely none such, the silly news are being published just to cover up something behind the scenes. If it wasnt for the Austrialian newspaper the world wouldnt have known about the first dissapearance. CD has played a great role in protecting her bf, as for the facebook trick.
