Prince William forced to choose: Polo or Kate?

Prince William playing poloWill Prince William have to choose between his beloved polo and Kate Middleton? Her allergic reaction to horses could be a sticking point for the much mooted engagement.

Kathy Lette, the Aussie author, attended a polo match recently in which William and Harry were playing, reports Reader’s Digest, and spotted Kate sitting alone in a tent, watching intently. “I’ve got to pay attention to every second,” Kate said. “I’ll be discussing the game in minute detail later on.”

“Why don’t you play polo your-self?” inquired Lette. “I’m allergic to horses,” replied Kate.

How will the putative princess survive in such a horsey household as the Windsors? (via Times Online)

    Hello,

It is now getting crazy. Unless someone makes a definative statement on this article , another stick has been created to beat KM.

Please , lets have a definative response or in two weeks it will be her new dog or a gallon of petrol!

I don’t think Kate is allergic to horses because she is around horses all the time when she watch William play polo. If you look back at some pictures, Kate is standing right next to horses so I don’t think this story is true at all and I think this artical was meant to be silly.

another slow news day, I guess. They have nothing new to write about Harry/Chelsy so an irrelevant story such as this provides as a filler.

I’m not sure I believe this story completely either. While I’ve never seen Kate on a horse, Rman is correct in saying she’s been photographed next to horses numerous times. And polo and the races are some of her favorite events. If she were truly allergic, I don’t think it’s severe enough to draw her away from them completely.

Well even if she is allergic, that don’t keep her from supporting William on his polo days and she is very kind and caring enough to be there. So yeah it’s a slow news day and even the DM is writing about it. This happens when we don’t see the couple in awhile.

People ran the story too so you know it’s a slow news day, lol. Whether or not she is allergic is anyones guess. She spends an awful lot of time around horses for someone who is allergic. She may have just been giving this person the brush off.

Or she could very well have been being sarcastic and like Lisa said giving them the brush off!

The DM has updated the article within the hour and Rebecca English has taken the credit. The updated piece is not as bad and does not use the Waity Katie name, thankfully.

I seem to remember that Kate was criticized a few years ago for taking riding lessons because the Queen had invited Kate to go riding with her. I very much doubt that Her Majesty would have made such an invitation to Kate if Kate were, in fact, highly allergic to horses….Her Majesty is much too gracious.

Unless, of course, that was a slow news day, too, and the ‘riding with the Queen’ story was a fabrication, also!

It’s possible KM is allergic to horses, but it’s obviously a mild allergy, since she’s able to be around them without noticeable symptoms.

I’m allergic to dogs, but all it means is a slightly runny nose when I’m near large-size dogs. But I have a friend with a severe allergy to cats who sneezes and wheezes and has an asthma attack within minutes if she’s in a house with cats. The severity of allergies depends on the individual.

This story is so silly! What ever KM position is in the RF and lets hope it’s girlfriend and not decoy, if she is allergic to horses I’m sure the RF knows about it by now and it does not affect her being at most of PW polo matches. My daughter rides horses and she has allergies, so she takes allergy medication and she’s fine. KM can still ride w/the Queen and have allergies as I think that is the point of the article to make KM look like a liar who will do anything to be in the RF. IMO.

    Ked,
You are brilliant! I love this line “another stick has been created to beat KM” and I do think it is true, especially after the horse allergy article in the DM.

Everybody has missed the real point of this story. Diligently watching every second of a polo match so you can discuss it in minute detail later? They’re trying to point out that she is trying too hard.

yep, this is just another story about why Ms. Middleton will never be a princess. Because goodnes knows, someone with allergies could NEVER fit into the Royal Family. Princess Diana didn’t like horses, didn’t ride and didn’t hunt, that had nothing to do with how she fit in. If you love each other, you work around and celebrate your differences. I am sure there is something that Ms. Middleton does that Prince William does not care for. So what?

Phoebe, perhaps KM was mocking Ms. Lette for asking her such silly question while in the middle of a match? I guess it would be like trying to give an interview while watching the NFL SuperBowl Playoffs. She might have said what she said to make the lady leave cause she was watching the match and did not want to be disturbed. No different than my father during a football game, except he would tell me to be quiet. KM does not have the advantage of being so blunt, crass or rude.

The Windsor have their own ailments too and I am sure someone has allergies somewhere running around those castles.

It very much sounds like she was being Facetious. She can’t be outwardly rude or you can guess what the Headline would have been. Airs and graces above her station. Has anyone asked themselves why such a stupid article would come out now if this all happened last summer?

I read that Kate does ride and she also enjoys horse racing. Surely a racing is the last place you would go if you had an allergy. Either she was mocking as gracie said, or the journo made it up. As Kate is very cautious as to whom she speaks too, I rather think it was made up.

I’ll bet KM was being, as jj said, facetious and was perhaps annoyed by the pushy reporter, as Gracie suspects? Didn’t we read tales of Kate taking riding lessons somewhere in Berkshire not so long ago?

And the timing is really strange — why is this coming out now, six months later?

While I still tend to doubt that Kate “rides regularly with the Queen” I’d really doubt she’s highly allergic — unless the tales of her childhood eczema are true in which case she would be prone to allergies.

Still, seems unlikely a mere allergy would keep her from pursuing a BRF tradition. ;)

They are bring this up because right now they have nothing to write about. Kate not only go to William’s matches but she go to the races as well. I hope we see her soon.

And like you said Rman now that Chelsy is out of the picture for the time being Kate is it and they will drag up any snippet they can.

I am sure right now the papers are nervous especially since KM does not go out much so there is very little to write about her except what is leaked by CH SJP or PM :) and that is always to cover bad news somewhere else. I am also surprised that CD and PH’s break up has become all about problems with KM and PW. I understand that both couples were in similar circumstances but pictures don’t necessarily tell the whole story. If anyone had predicted that CH and PH were going to break up after the Mauritus photographs I would have told them they were crazy..

The paps are going to hunt PH like a dog they are all going to want to know who will be the next lady love on PH’s arm. I feel sorry for her already, the comparisons are going to be awful.

That is very true JJ, they will compare the next girl to Chelsy. But yeah the attention is turning to William & Kate now and of course it’s going to be full of gossip and negitive because that’s way more interesting than they went on a nice holiday in Scotland and he helped celebrate her birthday. That’s a nice story but the papers wants some juicy gossip and a story that will get peoples blood pressure up. That makes the post’s on these sites flow like water. We know that everything is fine with William & Kate and the engagement watch is still on. But for the time being, some good gossip in the blog world sounds better to many.

    Hello everybody,

If you check Team Highgrove you’ll find pictures of Kate with the aussie Kathy Lette. They were outside and not under a tent. Kate wore a nice skirt (with flowers) and a black pullover (or vest). Harry was there and prince charles too. We see Kate laughing and chatting with Kathy Lette. Don’t you remember? just after this match Kathy asked william why kate and him were not under the tent and william point out the army of photographers (she told that to a german magazine, bild or someting like that). I you check the OTHER SITE you probably find the story too. So why not tell the german magazine the story about the allergy at this time? Is it not strange? What do you think about? (Kathy Lette writes erotics books and worst not a journalist!!!)
