Did Prince William talk about Harry, Chelsy and Kate?
SBS World News Australia reports on a story that appeared in The News of The World newspaper…
Britain’s Prince William, who is training to become a full-time military helicopter pilot, wants to fight in Afghanistan, a newspaper says, citing the royal.
The News of the World, Britain’s biggest-selling newspaper, said the 26-year-old royal, who is second in line to the throne, unwittingly spoke to their reporter in a nightclub.
The prince gives away little when speaking publicly. William also said his brother Prince Harry was missing his ex-lover Chelsy Davy, while giving away no clues about whether he might marry his own girlfriend Kate Middleton.
“I’d love to do what Harry did out in Afghanistan,” William was reported as saying. “That’s why we train – because we want to be out there on the front line. I’m a bit jealous of him to be honest. Hopefully I’ll get my turn.”
Asked whether he would be getting married any time soon, William replied: “You’ll have to wait and see. Wait and see.”
Asked about how his brother was faring following his split from Zimbabwean law student Davy in January, William shook his head and replied: “Harry is still missing Chelsy. They were together for such a long time, so it’s only natural, I guess. He’s coping, but, yeah, he does miss her a lot.”
A spokesman for the prince said: “Prince William doesn’t talk about his private life to strangers. William does not recall this conversation taking place.”

I read this piece earlier this morning. Not sure what to make of it. It may be total fiction or it could be William was drinking and did say these things. The most interesting part of the rep saying that “William does not recall this conversation taking place” It would be odd for his rep to respond to a tabloid piece. More spin control maybe?

Hello from Paris,
I just remember Jecca’s wedding is taking place this weekend? Is it true?
March 29th, 2009 08:45
William really don’t talk about his private life but this is so true.
“Asked whether he would be getting married any time soon, William replied: “You’ll have to wait and see. Wait and see.”
All we can do is wait and see.

Rman, Alsgal thinks that lucky reporter has just learned one excellent fact courtesy of admirable journalistic skill and possibly the odd Jello shooter.
Of course William’s rep will deny it — it is supposed to be a lovely surprise for all of us.
In vino veritas.
March 29th, 2009 09:10
Well I know these two will surprise us and I look forward to that surprise.
March 29th, 2009 10:58
Alsgal I’m getting the feeling that now PM Brown & The Queen are having their talks about this and that is what we are waiting on.
March 29th, 2009 11:13
I dont believe a word of it.
March 29th, 2009 12:00
I really don’t trust The News of The World’s reporting. I am afraid I do not believe a word of it.
It sounds fabricated and just too good to be true! Imagine that! Everything we were wondering about (i.e., Chelsey, Kate, SAR, etc.)addressed in one informal interview with the Prince!
March 29th, 2009 12:19
Clover, I think we know that William never talks about his private life in public like that. Not that he said it but it’s true that we just have to wait and see.
March 29th, 2009 17:03
I’m usually the first to lambast the press.
This one though, I’m really not sure about. I know William never talks to the press. He’s supposed to have an inbuilt B*** S****** detector.
The palace never comments on what Harry has supposed to have said or not said to the press. Same with William.
Don’t forget the press once tricked William into revealing how much Harry was in love with Chelsy many years ago. The palace never commented on that.
Why are they commenting now? Is it because
W & H have their own office, or is it that this story might be true?
I don’t know, but I think I’m inclined to gage this story with how the palace may respond to future ones.

More from Claudia Joseph’s book about Kate. Of course the DM put the most negative spin on it possible.

Does anyone have the link to the story in the News of the World? Frankly, I’m beginning to think it is false because the story isn’t in the NOW.
I can’t find it. I doubt it exists.
March 29th, 2009 17:41
Kates ancestors is small potatoes to William’s ancestors.
March 29th, 2009 17:44
Well I think this only goes to show that with the lack of news the press are going to write about absolutely anything. I mean what a load of nonsense.. PW is pretty press savvy I think, I’m not sure he would be caught out by a reporter?? Although we had the same argument with Kate Middleton’s mother Carole when she was supposedly caught out by the reporter last year with the “we don’t know what is going to happen comment”
March 29th, 2009 17:50
If you think about it, even if this story were true, PW hasn’t said anything of substance.
March 29th, 2009 18:54
Hale, it’s the link you asked for:

March 29th, 2009 19:31
Well Well Well I think I hear weddings bells in 2010
March 29th, 2009 20:18
This story has been reported by the media in Australia, New Zealand, India, and the Middle East. It even made it into the Boston Herald. The only place I can’t find it is in the NOTW, or any other British paper. Odd.
March 29th, 2009 20:44
Lisa,
I agree. Great, great, great grandfather! How pointless and mean-spirited!
March 29th, 2009 21:03
You know Lisa I agree and it worries me that there are going to be many more pointless stories written before an announcement takes place (if an announcement takes place) I have no idea why they are trying to destroy this girl and her family.
March 29th, 2009 21:51
jj,they are retailiating because Kate and her family remain silent after all these years.
I am surprised this book is actually being published. If they were to marry I could see it, but not now. Pointless,IMO.
I am still petering on the fence between an announcement coming soon and feeling like it may never come. I think it is fairly obvious they are together, stable and long term. It why they are not married that has me baffled.
I am also more then a little curious as to how William can watch what the press does to Kate and her family, who he is clearly close to,and he seems to do nothing to relieve the situation.
March 29th, 2009 21:54
Again, we all are going have to wait and see. I know we are all tierd of the endless waiting but that’s all we can do.
March 29th, 2009 21:56
Rman, thankfully you have more patience then the rest of us put together! LOL.
What do you think about this NOTW story? AFP has picked it up now.
March 29th, 2009 22:21
To tell you the truth Lisa, I don’t know if they would send him to Afghanistan because he’s second in line to the throne. The dangers involved would be too much of a risk. Harry did his thing, the public found out and they pulled him out of there before you could blink an eye. I just don’t know if the Queen & PM would agree with it. If they pull if off, that would be great though.
March 29th, 2009 22:30
Lisa,
The media are angry with the Middletons, otherwise why all the digs?
PW and KM do appear to be stable, long-term partners. Yet I am also on the fence about whether an engagement will come tomorrow or ever.
Rman,
IMO you are right about two things. The second in line to the throne would most likely not be sent to Afghanistan.
Regarding PW and KM we are all going to have to wait and see!
March 29th, 2009 22:38
I don’t know if I believe that William has said all of this. The one thing I recognize Lisa is the tabs is screwing with our heads alot and it’ one oof the reasons why some royal bloggers have their knives out for Kate. The amount of rubbish that is said about her is so thick, you can cut it with a knife. I’m sure she’s not perfect but this young woman has not done anything to anybody and she is being treated so badly for nothing. They give her a lot of grief but in 2001, the Queen said in a letter to the families of British victims of 9/11 that “Grief is the price we pay for love.” I guess that’s true and I guess Kate will have to go through the fire to be his wife.
March 29th, 2009 22:40
Clover it’s just true, we just have to wait and see.
March 29th, 2009 23:43
I know Lisa that is the one thing which sometimes makes me question whether it will come. Marriage for Kate if he loves her and does want to be with her would only partially solve the press problem with the initial negative press abating, but as time goes on the glare would only increase so it’s almost like heads you loose and tails you loose…
March 30th, 2009 00:06
JJ will William marry Kate? is the 1 million dollar question but until it happens, we will always get a 10 dollar answer.
March 30th, 2009 06:08
as wills km we can wait and wait the public does oer prince private life
April 3rd, 2009 08:03
I wonder how William spends his time with Kate.
April 3rd, 2009 08:04
William never gushes about personal life, especially Kate.
