Prince Harry has flown solo for the first time, an important step on his way to becoming an attack helicopter pilot, reports the Daily Mail…

The 24-year-old yesterday completed a sortie without an instructor, with RAF sources describing him as an ‘instinctive’ flyer. He was forced to abort his first landing but hit the ground smoothly on his second attempt.

The paper quotes a royal source;

‘The prince took his first solo flight a couple of weeks ago. He went up in the air for an intensive training flight with his instructor for an hour and then was told to go up and do it by himself.

He is absolutely loving it.’
