Veteran quizzes Charles over Queen’s absence at D-Day commemoration – Daily Mail
Despite months of diplomatic wrangling between London, Paris and Washington, the Queen remained absent from the official commemoration of the 65th anniversary. And Prince Charles, without the Duchess of Cornwall by his side, made only a token appearance, laying a wreath…

Prince William dead, reports Google – PC Pro
Search for “British royals” for example, and top of the shop is Prince William. Born on 21 June 1982 and (ahem) died on “28 August 1972 (aged 30) Halfpenny Green, Wolverhampton”. So not only did he die before he was born, but he somehow reached the ripe old age of 30. Perhaps there’s a time machine in the Midlands?…

The Royales who Pay their Way – Sunday Express
They may be under fire for not opening Buckingham Palace to fund the restoration of neglected buildings but our Royal Family is, in fact, generating cash through all sorts of enterprises. That our future King and his consort make active, hands-on neighbours unafraid of soiling the royal mitts – Charles is known to tend his own vegetable gardens – says much about the evolution of royalty and their own regard for their relevance in the 21st century…

I wonder is Charles okay, he looked very down at the D-Day ceremony.

I think poor Prince Charles felt very embarrassed having to stand next to Gordon Brown.

    Hello Everyone,

I watched the D-Day ceremony coverage on CNN and have to agree with Rman that Prince Charles looked rather down. It also appeared to me that Prime Minister Brown was going out of his way to ‘dis’ Prince Charles. Mr. Brown repeatedly walked ahead without waiting for the Prince, and perhaps he should have allowed Prince Charles to precede him. As the group of leaders walked to the stage for their speeches, Prince Charles lingered behind for a moment, politely listening to an elderly veteran. Mr. Brown walked briskly away toward the stage and took Mr. Obama’s arm to pull him along, because the US President stopped to wait for Prince Charles. I am proud to say that President Obama had the good manners to insist on waiting for Prince Charles, which seemed to fluster Mr. Brown. Mr. Obama then stepped back so that Prince Charles could precede him onto the stage. Thus, the Prince and Mr. Brown found themselves next to each other for the rest of the ceremony!

The goings-on reminded me of a group of school girls and I have to admit being surprised that supposedly sophisticated world leaders would so blatantly show their personal feelings and grudges that openly. Mr. Brown’s treatment of Prince Charles was dreadful and I hope he leaves office soon.

However, as the hereditary heir to the throne, Prince Charles probably should have seemed less perturbed by the events of the day. He will be King one day while Mr. Brown is transient. I would have liked to have seen Prince Charles be a bit more relaxed and magnanimous. Seeming like the King is the best way for everyone to treat one as the King…. From his studies, Prince Charles should remember this :)

Two related thoughts: As the article on the village near Highgrove illustrates, Prince Charles does a wonderful, if underappreciated, job as Prince of Wales. He is an astute businessman and is so very interested in the current and future well-being of the British people and countryside. Some have indicated that much of this valuable work would have to stop once he becomes King. I think it is no accident that he has been Prince of Wales for so long. I hope he continues long in this invaluable role.

Second, and thank you, Bluefire, for the wonderful links you provided to Kate’s dissertation: I remember reading one of the first articles published in the US in the early 1990’s on the suspected maritial problems of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The article ended with the author’s wish that the couple could resolve their differences so that they could “have the daughter they both longed for.”

It occurred to me while thinking of Prince Charles, his accomplishments, his sensitive nature, and his interest in art and architecture that he must enjoy Kate Middleton’s company. I hope that is the case, and she becomes the daughter (in-law) he always wanted to have….

    Rman and others,

I just thought he looked appropriately solemn. In other pictures, when he great veterans, he is smiling. In any case, it could not have been a happy day for him.

I always though Charles and Diana should have had a passel of kids. Diana so loved kids. It would have given her something to focus on, instead of wondering where Charles was all the time and if she was getting enough attention from everyone. Alas for them to have had more kids, something would have have happened that was not happening between them even if it was with others.

*mapleleaf smiles a very smug smile* I said on another forum that Kate sometimes misses one or two polo matches in a summer, but that she attends MOST of them, and Lo and Behold, there was Kate at this afternoon’s match!!

;) I think it’s fun being right. I’m looking forward to convoluted and weird explanations and theories from the Kate ‘nay-sayers’.

Two weeks ago when Kate watched Wills play, some of the Kate ‘naysayers’ claimed that Tom vS must’ve invited Kate, despite the fact that Kate left with Will and Tom was with Lady Melissa Percy.

:P I’m totally convinced that some of those N-Sers (Nay-Sayers) are completely allergic to reality.

    Mapleleaf,

I notice for a long time the N-Sers (lol) often get upset that she is still in the picture. Why can’t people just accept that these two are in love? I just find it so interesting that some people are just mean towards her just for the hell of it.

I wonder who won the game?

I’ve just zoomed in the photo with Kate( ID 14106176 (Belga) and it looks like a band (a ring) on Kate’s left hand ring finger. Maybe I’m wrong.

Lisa, it’s hard to tell but I thought it looked like 3rd finger right hand too. In some pic’s when she is walking to cars she has her hands clasped together, but in the ones where she is pulling her hair back it does appear that way. People have said she would not wear engagement ring unless announced, but how would we know if she does not wear it privately among trusted friends and far removed from pap pics?

More pics of her on getty and can see the ring/band better. Left hand middle finger, looks like a gold signet ring she wore it on opposite hand last time. Looks different that the white gold ring she normally wears. Okay, on her right 3rd finger she is wearing what appears to be a band or perhaps the ring is twisted? She usually wears a ring on the middle finger on that hand too. Sounds very nutty I know, but there you have it.

:) Mathilde, thanks so much for providing that pic! And what’s even better, the photo is actually a pic of Wills and Kate ARRIVING! Here’s the pic again:

Guest, thanks for your support of ‘N-Sers’! It will be fun seeing the Nay-Sayers explain away Wills ARRIVING with Kate!

And my next tidbit is going to make the N-Sers heads spin round like they were in the Exorcist movie:

I believe (I’m not sure, but I think…) that Kate had a security person following her. Look at all of the Getty pics, there is a guy following Kate.

Let me know what you guys think.

Well, if they arrived together so much for the gate crashing.

However, I doubt that is an engagement ring on her finger. Trust me when she is wearing the ring we will know. It will be something noticeable. Hopefully not that big honking Opal I dreamed about.

    Mapleleaf,

Wowza! The presence of security should certainly create malaise among the N-Sers!

I noticed are two different gentlemen with Kate (on the Getty Images site).

One is very dapper and distinguished, 50s-60s y.o., dressed in grey. His hand gestures suggest he wants to direct her attention to something. Does someone recognize him?

The other gentlemen is the one I think you are referring to. He is dressed much more casually, wearing a blue overcoat. He is definitely trailing KM, and carrying an umbrella (or a secret weapon ;-) ) I thought the second one could have been her dad (though I have never seen a picture of him). But now, I guess not.
