Yes, he looks upset and in one pic it almost looks like Andrew is trying to comfort him. What happened in St.Georges Chapel that would make him that emotional? Why would his mother be brought up during the ceremony as he was not invested. I don’t think I have seen a pic of William like that before as he is usually good at hiding his emotions. Maybe he wanted Kate there?

JJ, the Beaufort Polo Club is hosting its country fair this weekend. There’s an international test match between England and Australasia, along with a few other scheduled matches on Saturday and Sunday. The BPC is near Highgrove, and that’s where William, Kate, Harry et al celebrated his birthday last year.

For all we know Wiliam tripped or dropped something on his foot, that is why he was not looking happy. Just because he is not all smiles is no reason to assume anything is wrong with Kate.
Kate will not be at the ceremony until she has an official position. Just like Diana and all the other royal brides. But just because she was not there does not mean they did not see each other that day. She is in town. He went to his ceremony thingie, then they met up later for tea or something. Geez. It was hardly an all day ceremony on the other side of the world.

There was no reason Kate or Harry should have been there.
Never forget when W was invested he also became the 1000 knight to receive his garter.
I do think it sad that when ever W doesn’t look happy, people assume there must be something wrong with his relationship with Kate. I don’t believe that is the case, but I do believe he appeared to dislike the whole ceremonial thing.

Hale, I totally feel the same. Kate was good enough to stand w/Camilla and Sophie last year to support William regardless of his Knighthood or not. Kate will never get the respect she deserves when CH/SJP/William pick and choose what she can and can’t go to. I’d say IMO that their is no engagement or she would have been there and should have been there regardless as she is his long-term girlfriend. Yes, he did appear to be visably upset but that was not until they left St. George’s, so who the heck knows what runs through William’s mind and it probably did not have anything to do with Kate IMO.

The only way Kate shows up at something as high profile as Ladies Day at Ascot is if she is engaged.
It’s protocol. You or I could just have our significant other show up everywhere we are and no big deal. But, for the Royal Family, there are rules. Ancient Rules that cannot be changed on a whim. One of them is no dates to official Royal functions. The person brought must have an official position (fiance or spouse), no girlfriends/boyfriends. So, Kate will not be there unless the engagement is announced. No matter how much we want to see her, it ain’t happening.
Since the rumor is out there, I think we may have an announcement before Ladies Day then.

I am not feeling an announcement any time soon. I think they are in no hurry and have their agenda and it doesn’t include what the public wants. I do think they are happy and the relationship is in a very good place right now.

Yeah they will make that announcement when they are ready to release it. Also William has never attended Royal Ascot so maybe next year he will go. There are some charity events coming up so hoprfully we will see them there.

I think anyone who is hoping to see Kate Middleton at Royal Ascot this year is going to be disappointed.
Kate has never attended Ascot before, and neither has Wills. So why would she be there this year?
I and many other people here on BRW mentioned that we didn’t think Kate would be present at the Garter parade and service, and we were right, because she wasn’t.
I’m not trying to be a wet blanket or shoot down anyone’s hopeful thoughts, I just don’t want anyone to be unnecessarily disappointed.
Kate has only been present at events that involved Wills personally, like his passing out from Sandhurst, his Wings ceremony, and his Investiture as a Knight of the Garter last year.
Until an official engagement announcement is made, it doesn’t make sense to expect Kate to be present at any other type of Royal event.
People can hope she’ll be present with the RF at Royal events like Ascot or the Garter service or the Remembrance service, but until that announcement happens, those people are going to be disappointed time and time again.
Rosettaresearch is right, this is all about Royal protocol. I hope I didn’t make anyone upset or angry, but IMO it’s better to deal with things as they are rather than living in make-believe.
And there’s a polo match scheduled for this coming weekend, hopefully Kate will be present for that as well.
Even though Kate isn’t present at the official Royal events, she is often present for these types of functions. I hope we get to see pics from Wills’ birthday celebrations, like we did last year.

KM can go to Ascot as a private citizen, if she wanted. Since she never has, as far as we know, it wouldn’t be likely for her to go this year, but there is always a possibilty. What about Wimbledon? She is a tennis player and has gone before.

Phoebe,your right,Ascot is opened to the public and no one would stop Kate from entering but given her position within the RF as William’s long time girlfriend, it would not be acceptable for her to attend without being engaged and invited by the family. Hopefully before too long she will be able to attend these events but for now,like Rman says, we have to be patient.

It’s not Harry, Mathilde. To donate on Justgiving it requires you to give credit card details etc. through Paypal and I doubt Harry would do such a thing. It would be a huge security risk for him.

I live in San Diego Hale and have heard nothing this end. The only thing which Gracie suggested that would make sense would be him taking part of his search and rescue training/secondment in San Diego as there are many Coast Guard/Navy bases here. Other than that all I can think of is it is nonsense….

I have not heard any news of Malibu other than on the forums and the links listed. So many wildfires out there and some stars are relocating as insurance does not pay. I remember Suzanne Sommers Malibu property burned to the ground, jewels and all. She said she would not rebuild. Of all the places in the world to move too, with money being no object, I can’t imagine though beautiful, why Malibu?

I watched a little TV over the weekend-the tabloids. The Insider, Extra, CNN. etc. None of them had anything about Prince William and Kate. I would think that something would have been mentioned. Maybe not. I read that some news organization is moving out there- the Red something. It is out of the UK. I don’t know the connection. I haven’t heard anything though on TV. Isn’t there a navy base at Almeda? How far is that from Malibu?

The original story simply said that some guy *who looked like Prince William* was looking at houses in Malibu!
Then he got a girlfriend/wife, then she became Kate Middleton, then people started reporting that it actually was Prince William and Kate Middleton!

The party was this past weekend in Newbury, Berkshire. Guy Pelly’s girlfriend Susanna Warren and her brother Jake Warren threw their annual ‘Folklore’ party at their place.

The pictures at the house party are great. I’m so pleased to see them enjoying themselves. It nice to see that once they are not in front of the world that they are affectionate with each other and do let loose. Hopefully the naysayers will being to accept that they are a couple that she is part of his circle and for the time being there is no imminent split.
Very interesting that Chelsy was there and Harry appeared not to be there. It seems like a party which would be right up Harry’s alley… Very interesting.
