Now the DM is reporting that Kate is on holiday with her family in the caribbean and William is being posted to Anglesey for training. Now you wonder if they time at Balmoral still on or they just have to take a raincheck on the invitaion to have tea with the Queen. The media really can play with your mind.

Hello ME, My daughter and her boyfriend are having 7 holidays this year, yes I said 7. They both work hard, are based in London and have reasonable jobs. So the fact that the Middleton family have 3 is of no consequence. Most people have 2 or 3 holidays per year.

I was the one who posted the video here and I duly acknowledged Kinga77 from RIF for it.

Maddie, I don’t think it was a camera phone either. Clearly the people who organised the seminar were making their own promotional film, and I believe as soon as the video was posted on RIF, someone copied it and put it on You tube. My guess is, it probably is a member of the press who did that, so as they could then publish the story. Otherwise, copyright comes into play, but not so when it is on You Tube.

Hence, that is why it was a bad copy.

    Hello,

I think much too much is being made of the August Bank Holiday visit to Balmoral, if it really happens. Both PW and KM have been there previously under similar circumstances and each time the engagement talk hightens. But nothing happens and will not for a few years yet.

As to a meeting between KM and HM, well that has happened before and you may remember the furore when KM was said to have asked people to address her as Catherine. That was beause HM called her Catherine and PH and his friends carried it on jokingly. However it was picked up by those who hate KM and given a negative status. PW always addresses her as ‘Kate’ except for the times when he calls her ” ” which is his pet name for her. She also has a pet name for him but will leave it at that! I also believe that her family have called her Kate most of her life.

I do believe that fairly advanced plans for a wedding in May/July 2009 were hurriedly called off by PW following talks with family members who stressed that no further mistakes would be tolerated and he did get cold feet and used the excuse of going into SAR to delay any further plans. I am certain his actions caused a fairly hefty row with KM which may have taken some time to sort out as he does seem committed to her despite KM herself havings many worries about becoming Queen in due course.

It has also been said that PW has asked (told) many senior Royal family memebers to “butt” out of his relationship with KM but it’s not known if that includes HM and PP or PC.

It was KM’s worries about being accepable as Queen which she first expressed to PW before the ‘make up’ in 2007 when he ceratinly persued her following their split and he spent a lot of time convincing her that their feeling for each other could overcome her worries and insecurity before they became an item again.

KM however is mindful of the (to her) terrors of Royal life with many , many periods when she would be alone and apart from PW which in a way is very similar to her present state as the number of times they actually meet up is limited apart from holidays , and which is a lot more than most of us appreciate.

Lisa, the video of KM speaking was interesting but her voice seems a lot higher pitched than I thought , nerves perhaps, and different to a single occasion I heard her talking in passing. I did notice in that clip that her lips seem a lot thinner than they usually appear and she didn’t open her mouth a lot when speaking which is perhaps something she has developed to stop lip reading by reporters.

As I have said I post but rarely now but do try to read up posts as every opportunity but these days seem to have little or no time for anything except travelling work and well other matters.

Oh by the way, I did hear that a possible ‘Dakar’ type rally or event in Australia is planned across the Northern Territory. Perhaps that is basis of PW’s visit and rumours of another ‘bike ride’!

Hey Ked, It’s good to hear from you.

I just have to say that William & Kate has come a long way and I’m sure that they have their disagreements, every couple goes through that but this couple would have never come this far if they didn’t have open communication. I think it’s safe to say that she knew all about his SAR plans and they decided to get more focused this year. I think next year their wedding will take place but after their honeymoon, they will get back to the training. But we just have to wait and see how things will play out, I’m just glad that the love between them is more evident than ever and they just getting on with things. I don’t think Kate gets enough props for sharing William with his military career, royal duties and putting up with the media. She is not even married to him yet and people often try to make it seem like her mind is on vacation and she’s just not hip to the game. I don’t even know her and I only heard her voice for a few seconds but when I look at her pictures and see what she goes through by being William’s girlfriend, I sense that she is a very smart woman and also very strong. I also don’t see William treating her like a rage but with lots of respect and love and gives her the attention she needs. You have to work hard to keep a relationship going for seven years these days. I think William & Kate works very hard to keep it all together despite the worlds pressure on them.

I just had to say that.

I am increasingly persuaded by evidence and arguments that this couple is postponing royal duties. Which btw I do not think is inappropriate. We already have enough working Royals to meet all labor demands. They are correct in giving themselves more time before taking on full responsibility within the RF.

I have to agree with you sojourner, I think they will have at least a few years of a private married life before they become full-time working royals. This is what Judy Wade was trying to point out in her artical not that long ago. I think they will become full-time working royals by the time the Queen celebrates her diamond jubilee.

I’m sad to hear about the passing of veteran news anchor Walter Cronkite.

    Hello,

Rman, for you, myself and many others especially here on BRW to accept that PW and KM, who have been together for so long and who have shown at devotion to each other through many difficulties, are not yet ready or even prepared to marry and raise their family.

To commit to a lifelong togetherness requires an acceptance that every single structure of both persons’ life, thoughts, actions ,belief and requirements are bound together in an unbreakable weave. Until both can demonstrate these requirements to one another irrevocably in an unbreakable bond then there will be problems within the relationship. Problems create stress and stress within a Royal marriage is a recipe for disaster as the past has shown.

KM does not like the life PW leads whilst in the military. She has experienced his various frailites during his earlier service and without thinking he may go that way again the temptations within a group of testosterone charged colleagues would be enough to cause stress.

I do believe that any agreement they have is subject to and dependant on his ending his active military service prior to an announcement of an engagement. This is a calculated risk on her part but it is surely consistent with the element of risk (and therefore stress) reduction prior to a lifelong commitment. Hard but necessary and one that is probably acceptable to the Royals and others in responsible advisory posts attached to them.

Thus 2014 is still a good bet unless there is a change of circumstance of any sort.

    meg,

I don’t make a habit of arguing so I wont but check up on the number of weekend assignments and duties PW undertakes and then read that KM is in London having tea with friends and similar episodes. JMO, no inside information claimed ;-)

I am not persuaded by the argument that military and married life are incompatible for this couple. I do think KM and PW are in no need or hurry to take on RF responsibilities. Furthermore, a new RF member of such stature (wife eventual king) might need a reclassification of duties that might include sidelining other RFers who are near and dear. Again, unnecessary. So they wait now. Does not meet they will want, need or indeed actually wait 2 or 5 years, for that matter.

Please don’t leave for so long next time.

Meg, have you forgotten what William himself said in that interview with that little girl. When she asked him what does he do on the weekends, he replied he spends a great deal of time on the Duchy estates. William also mentioned that he was learning Welsh. Then there is his course work in the RAF. As well as private meetings with those involved in the charities of which he is patron of.

In the Monarchy at work docu, we saw William visiting Centrepoint very, very early in the morning in order to avoid paps.

It is my belief, that William is very, very busy at the present time, and will remain so whilst he is serving in the military.

Ked: To commit to a lifelong togetherness requires an acceptance that every single structure of both persons’ life, thoughts, actions ,belief and requirements are bound together in an unbreakable weave.

Wow, if that is the requirement for marriage, no one would ever get married. Ked, I think your belief that Prince William and Ms. Middleton will not get married whie he is in the military is rooted in your very unrealistic belief ow aht it takes to make a marriage. Millions of military couples make it work every single year. It requires adjustments, sure. But, it is not like Ms. Middleton will be struggling alone in base housing on the other side of the world from her family, with too much month left in the paycheck. She will actually have it a lot easier than a lot of military wives.

Remember, the Queen was a military wife when she was still a Princess. She says it was some of the best years of her life because she could just be a wife instead of the heir to the throne.

rosettaresearch, whilst I agree that the Q enjoyed her years as a naval wife, and that KM would have it easier than other military wives. I somehow do not believe that if KM was to marry William now, she would be allowed to be just a military wife, even for a short time.

The reason I believe that, is because royal finances have come into the public domain more so than in other years. Security costs are under review, and I do believe that whoever marries W or H, their wives will be come into the public arena in order to ward off debates about expenditure etc. In other words, they shall be expected to earn their pound of flesh sooner than later.

Such are the times now for the RF. Its a less deferential world.

  • Clover

    rosettearesearch,
It is obviously not a requirement for marriage and should be. Many, many marriages fall apart everyday, if you haven’t noticed, due to these precise issues left unresolved.

I agree with Ked, marriages would have a better chance of survival if these issues were resolved before any wedding is planned.

Believe me unresolved issues of this type mixed with the absolute demands of infant and child care can be a recipe for extreme stress and ultimate disaster.

If all of this is true about PW and KM working out their issues before engagement and marriage, then I believe both are very, very wise young people.

    Morning Folks,

I’m sure whatever plan that the couple has will work for them. Lets remember that William makes his own money and Charles also supports his sons so if W&K get married next year, they will have a comfortable living. But it’s not expected for them to take up a great deal of royal duties until William leaves the military. They will do a few engagements but will not become full-time royals until he leaves. This is what Judy Wade was pointing out. If they get married while he is still in the military, their lives will not be pure hell so they will be fine. Of course every couple is different but the Queen & Philip really liked their lives when Philip was in the military and if her father wasn’t sick, that’s how it would have stayed until it was Elizabeth’s time to take the throne.

I’m sure next year we will learn more about what’s going to happen but right now these people are busy and getting on with things. Kate knows that she is dating a future king and he needs the training to be prepared for that role. Due to knowing Charles will have a shorter reign so she knows that he has to get prepared. This girl like to see him in his military suits and she probably nearly lost her mind when he landed that helicopter in her backyard. She has let it be known that she accepts his commitments to the military and when he made that SAR announcement last year, she had his back the whole time. Lets just wait and see how things will play out and be happy that things are running smoothly and the bad press has died down.

Walter Cronkite was broadcasting when it was also confirmed that JFK had died. He said the time, his voice choked up and he rubbed his eyes.
