Prince William & Kate Middleton attend friend’s Wedding

Prince William was teased yesterday at his best friend’s wedding: “You’ll be next”.

Kate MiddletonThe Royal had just walked long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton down the aisle after pal Nicholas van Cutsem tied the knot.

William, 27, laughed off the remark before heading to the reception with Kate, who he has dated since 2001.

He and brother Prince Harry, 24, who were both ushers, had arrived an hour early with the groom at the Guards Chapel, which is close to Buckingham Palace in central London.

A source at the ceremony said: “He has been with Kate far longer than most of his close pals – and more and more of them are getting married. “Nicholas’ comment was meant only as a joke – but it is increasingly likely that Wills and Kate will decide to take the plunge.”

You know, I really love her dress, but the hat is another story. She looks like she;s wearing a satellite dish. And I think, at 27, she should think about doing something different with her hair.

Me maybe they will be going to Balmoral. Yeah Kate looked very good at the wedding and it looks like they will be planning a wedding of their own soon. The young royals have been wearing hats like that recently, The Countess of Wessex, Beatrice and Eugenie have been seen wearing hats like that. I guess that’s in for 2009 so Kate fits right in with the royal women.

I would like to know the secret to this couples long lasting relationship. It still amazes me that they have remained together all these years, despite the media’s interest. I can’t wait for that engagement interview.

Me, actually I think it’s the other way around… if you look at the picture numbers in Isifa, pic #3 is labeled 23621349, pic #2 = 23621350, and pic #1 = 23621351. So Kate saw the paps… told Wills… and he gives the finger (explains why Kate has a cheeky smile while he does it). Oh, and I think he has his hand on Kate’s back in pic #1. Ah, enough technicalities!

    Thanks, Mapleleaf!

Oh how nice. They went to a wedding together. They look like a couple here. Kate looks lovely in her dress. The fascinator has to be the worst hat fashion ever invented. It usually looks like some strange growth coming out of the wearer’s head. In this case, satellite dish is correct.

LOL about the fascinator. Kate’s was not too bad. I was truly frightened to see that some of the butterflies from Princess Beatrice’s famous hat actually escaped and landed on the head of another one of the wedding guests. Gasp!

I agree with “Me”. It does seem as if she was “dressed” by Buckinham Palace. She also seems to be carrying herself a bit different, I noticed how she hel her hand and clutched her handbag seemed “posed” or too formal; I don’t know really, but she seems different somehow.

Why does Kate tan so much? Is she unaware of the fact that tanning robs your skin of elasticity? She isn’t exactly youthful looking, and I’d stay clear out of the sun if I were her, lest she wants her face to sag even more.

Both Middleton women are very dark, so being out in the sun, they would most likely tan. That said, I don’t think KM tans very much. PM is more the tanner.

Yup. Kate looks flawless. However, she looks as if she was dressed by Buckingham Palace. And she is “posing”. The hands are not natural.
Countess Sophie has usually a very similar style. Perhaps they have the same stylist?

On another note, Laura ( Camilla’s daughter) looks terrible. I know that she is very pregnant, but she could have gone to the hairstylist beforehand. And she could have worn a more elegant dress and flats.

Did William even talk ot Kate at all? He looks uncomfortable in all the photos and none talking to Kate.
Kate looks old and she looks like Koo Stark.
Always a wedding guest never a wedding of her own. I don’t think they are anything more than friends.
William’s never going to marry her, no matter how many weddings she goes to. No matter how manyoutfits she shows up in.
The Palace doesn’t want Kate and if William did he would have married her by now. She’ll always be just a member of his circle and nothing more.

Kate has developed her own style, and these two outfits are not disimilar in style.

In the announcement that William was going into the SAR program, it was reported by the courtiers that it would be at least 18 months before anything would be said about an engagement. Maybe, they were right. It could be that they will get engaged next year 2010
Hale, it could be right after the elections. Then a wedding planned for early spring 2011. That would give them another almost year of relative freedom. what will help the situation for Kate is if she were included in things that the Queen was present. A photo of Kate and the RF would help to let people know that this is the plan for William and Kate. Also, this could allow Kate time to have her princess classes. I was hoping for maybe this August as an announcement. I don’t know now. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for them.

Although I hate to admit it, I am coming around more to the idea that they won’t marry until 2013, for various reasons. And, yeah, a lot can happen in four years. I think the delay is twofold: PW’s military career, and KM’s reluctance to marry into the RF until she is ready to have children. I also don’t think they will marry before ZP and MT, and they won’t marry until 2012 or later. Here’s hoping I’m wrong and Jobson is right.

I really don’t think it’s two years off. I think they will make the announcement early next year and maybe William will do his Commonwealth tours as an engaged man. Charles also went on a tour right after his engagement to Diana. But I feel like it will all happen soon. Kate knows that her day is coming.

Britt…..YES! That’s it exactly. You have hit the nail on the head, and he is not the only one and more shall follow.

Larcombe is the one getting all the exclusives. CH & St.J’s are dealing solely with The Sun.

At first it was the DM which got pushed out, but now its moved on to Jobson. Helliker will follow. The Times, but I am not sure about Mandrake.

For sometime now, it felt that PC, the princes and the DM were at war with one another. I believe it all boils down to the fact that Larcombe is getting all the exclusives and its rubbing everybody up the wrong way. No wonder.

A poster over at RIF informed me, the princes are both fans of The Sun. Which has always been know as a lads paper. They also prefer Sky News which is why Harry chose to do one of his interviews with them.

It has become a joint operation with The Sun & the princes. The Sun gets the exclusives, the princes get them to write what they want them to write, and The Sun increases their circulation. Of course the NOTW is also owned by Murdoch, but not for nothing do we call the NOTW ‘The Screws of the World’.

A poster here, I can’t remember who, said that The Sun is the largest read British tab in the world. Problem here is, its not the rest of the world who decides if we keep the monarchy. It’s Britain.

So it still comes down to which tab has the highest female readership. If it is The Sun, then the princes are laughing, because in any future debate over the monarchy in this country the ‘vote’ is dependent of the women’s vote because they are the RF’s major ‘fan base’.

However, if The Sun remains a dominant male tab, then the princes are making a rod for their back. I am coming to the conclusion that the princes have as much input into this as does PC.

jj….. A lot of what Jobson wrote is old news. Several months ago I read that St.J’s will be pushing the princes as a duo.

As for a wedding in 2012. No. I really cannot see that, because we have the Olympics in London as well as 60 years of the Q’s ascension to the throne.

2010, is World Cup and election. If there is a wedding, then I am looking once more at 2011, but you all know my feelings about that so no point in droning on about it.

Of course there is always Ked’s suggestion, and he puts it in 2014. Which is when William would have finished all his helicopter training.

People, consider the source. A couple weeks ago we were laughing at stories in the NOTW. They are a trashy tab. Take everything they say with a grain of salt whether it agrees with your personal opinion or not.

What we have learned over the years with the Prince and Ms. Middleton is they do what they want. They know what they want and when it will happen. The rest of us are just spectators. They will marry when they darn well decide to. Although I am still holding out for a fall announcement.

I thought the brocade coat and the oyster dress very elegant (loved the button detail on the sleeves of the coat), though the fascinator is a bit eccentric. Normally, I appreciate eccentric fashion, but fascinators have pretty much run their course, for the time being. Ms. Middleton looked fine in hers, but perhaps it’s time to give this little fad a rest. It’s been going on a bit too long.

No, I doubt very much that she was advised by Buck Place or that the clothes were chosen for her. (There is such a thing as over-analyzing.) The outfit was very much in line with the sort of thing Ms. Middleton has worn in the past: an elegant, fitted coat or jacket over a slim dress or skirt and top combination, with well-made heels and a small clutch bag. You don’t need special “royal” advice to make such a choice.

In fact, this is how I’ve dressed since I was in my late 20’s. It’s a look that works for everyone, of all ages. A 19-year-old or a 59-year-old can effectively wear a coat and dress combination of that kind.

Ursula, I’ll agree that Ms. Middleton’s hair is a bit too long now that she’s 27. She needs to rethink it.

The notion that this couple is going to wait another three years to marry doesn’t work for me. By the way, claims that they have been dating for 8 years don’t seem accurate to me, either. They possibly knew each other from 2001, as students in the Art History Department and later housemates at St Andrews, but I believe I’ve read several places that they didn’t start dating until very late 2003 or very early 2004. After all, Prince William didn’t arrive at St Andrews until he was 19, in the fall of 2001, after taking a gap year. Surely he didn’t start dating Ms. Middleton immediately?

So, hopefuly from time to time W&K will allow the press to tour their personal lives when not on royal duty.

The Jobson article sound very believable to me.
The Palace will do everything to avoid another hype, and imo very rightly so. There is/was no hype around the QM or HM, only love and respect from the British people. I think sometimes Diana mistook the hype around her for love, she must have felt very lonely at times. Hype is not reliable. Hype can change tomorrow and if I remember well, there were times when Diana was not terribly popular.

I look in my crystal ball and predict a relatively short engagement period and a relatively small wedding in St George. Perhaps even not in the summer, but in spring or in autumn, say April or September. Of course, it will be a royal event, but certainly not as pompous as Charles’ or Andrew’s wedding.

I figured there would be a flurry of articles this weekend after the wedding appearance. I have no faith in any of them. I don’t think Jobson has a clue. BTW he is releasing a book on W&K feb 14th 2010.

I have read some comments here and elsewhere about Kate looking like she had some help with her outfit and her manner. I think it is plausible that someone is actively assisting her ahead of an announcement. I hope we are not in for another year+ wait for this wedding but it won’t surprise me if we are. I just think they are going to put it off as long as they can to avoid the crap that comes along with it.

    @ Kat:
    hmm… September 2010. Or April 2011.

I know articles state that he will be too busy to marry next year, but lets face it, they would not admit that there are plans unless there is an announcement. Come on.
However, I do believe that he has proposed already and Kate has her engagement ring at home in Buckleberry. And sometimes, when the blinds are down and the door is locked, she is putting it on and dancing through her bedroom. :-)

    Chris,
Let’s go with 2010. If the elections are held in what May/June of 2010. Their engagemaent could be announced end of june with Wedding in Sept. I am still hoping for something sooner. Just checked about Robin Nunn’s book. ProProfs and EBay have a count down to Sept. 1. Only discount books has it being published Oct. 31st. Everyone else has it being publlished Sept, 1. I don’t know if that has anything to do with anything.

    RE: Jobson’s article

I am inclined to give it more weight simply because I think the logic feels right. If anything, I believe there is a plan in place. The RF plans ahead for years (remember Camilla’s very long and very gradual acceptance), and in something as delicate as William’s marriage, they simply cannot falter.

The princes need to establish themselves before Kate-mania begins. Absolutely right! It could be a circus if executed in haste. William needs to have gained enough respect and credibility as the future King if he doesn’t want to be overshadowed by his wife. It’s good for him. It’s also good for Kate. It’s good for their team and therefore their marriage.

2010 is for training & image-building. 2012 will be too busy. So I say and hope 2011 is the year. 2011 isn’t too far even for the most impatient fans to wait. As for me, a plan that helps Wills and Kate’s marriage in the long run is well worth the delay.

LOL,NYme…I feel your pain. Not being from the UK,I cannot give you a concrete reason why a wedding is not possible in an election year but I think it has something to do with the RF not wanting to take attention away from the matter at hand, which is clearly very important.

But IMO, no one knows what is going to happen yet. Lots of guesses out there, thats for sure. Maybe one of them will be able to take the credit for being right!

You can have a wedding in an election year in Great Britian. Unlike the US where the election begins the year before and is just a circus, British elections are very short. Parliament is dissolved and then in a couple of month, new elections are held. None of this pre-primary, primary, convention, general election crap. So, they can easily have the announcement this year, have the downtime to get the dress made, music picked out, etc., during which Parliament is dissolved, the elections are held, new government sworn in and then the run up to the wedding with the parties and then the big day itself.

There cannot be short engagement. The dress has to be designed and made. That cannnot happen before the announcement because of leaks. Also, it will not be a small wedding. Prince Edward could have a small wedding because he is practically irrelevant in the line of the succession. He will most likely never be King. William on the other hand will be King someday. So he has to have a big state wedding with crowned heads and heads of state invited. St. George’s is too small to hold them. It’s either the Abbey or St. Paul’s. It will be in the summer and will be a MAJOR event.

    Hello My Royal Peeps,

We just have to wait and see what will happen. No one knows when it will be announced. Jobson is just guessing like many of us so all we can do is hope that it’s sooner than 2012 or 2082.

If Kate and William have reached an “understanding” that a marriage will take place is an understanding the same as a betrothal? If this is being leaked why not just get engaged? If the wedding is going to take place before the jubilee then it is probably going to take place 2011 as the latest. I am only guessing. I am holding out for sooner. In one of the articles it said that Zara wanted to get married but Freddie beat her to it. This article also said that she is waiting to see if William and Kate will make an announcement. At this point, it is a wait and see. By the way the source of what was said is from the DM. Take it for what it is worth. It is interesting that when one magazine writes and article, there are many many articles written just quoting the first article.

I apologize if I’m repeating anything that has already been mentioned…

Kate’s position has not always been an enviable one and I give her credit for how she’s handled herself. In some ways, BOTH Kate and William’s reputations have suffered due to the silence/speculation. Maybe BP is finally taking some of the pressure off by at least acknowledging that it’s not a question of if, but when. (Something I’ve believed for a very long time. :) )

I also believe that all the talk of William establishing himself as a working royal and representating the Queen in Australia and South Africa is just a way of throwing us off the scent. I agree with some of the comments here that it might be earlier than we think. ;)

And I absolutely believe HM would like to have Kate on the balcony as a PRINCESS when she celebrates her Diamond Jubilee. This will keep the focus on her devotion to duty as Queen as well as the monarchy’s FUTURE. In other words, it will take the spotlight off Camilla and her potential future role.

While the premise of Jobson’s story makes sense, I tend to feel his timing quote is to support his earlier claim that there would be no wedding in 2010 due to Wills being too “busy”.

On a side note, I am curious to see what a certain blogger has to say about this latest article after he was all over the idea that there was no wedding coming next year and it was because William was putting it off etc…same old same old. Lets see which direction the wind blows in this time ;)

Phoebe, they’re planning to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in summer 2012. To be exact, end of May to July 2012. Then on July 27 to mid-August, the Olympics…

    Summer 2012 will be packed!

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be a great celebrated event, I just pray the Queen will be here to celebrate it. I said awhile back that William & Kate will be married way before that event gets here so we just have to wait and see.

Phoebe for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2011, there will be many celebrations going on. A service of thanksgiving, a parade in the Golden State Carriage and other things. The royal family will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace and Kate will be on that balcony too.

Katherine Kate is just simply a strong person and no matter how hard people try to knock her down, still stands tall and strong. She really showed everyone a thing or two at the wedding. She looked fine, royal and very happy. William is a very lucky guy and he knows that.

Katherine, Diana really tried her best to have a stable family life while married to Charles. Infact Charles himself told Diana that he wanted a stable family life because he didn’t have that when he was a kid. That didn’t happen for her but I’m sure she is happy that William has found a great family oriented woman to share his life with.

I think Diana also admires Kate’s strength and determination because Kate goes through so much by being in love with William and yet she never leaves his side. I can’t wait for all of this to be official.

Why The Sun? Camilla has been in cahoots with them for decades. She was mates with Stuart Higgins and now with Rebecca Wade.

    I like your sentiments, Katharine.
