Politicians do not like share the stage with others. It upsets their ego's, and trust me, Brown's ego is monumental.

Given the MP's expense scandals we have had in England, it is right their should be no royal wedding next year. Hopefully the public shall be focused on the issues of the day when deciding who to vote for.

The latest the election can be called is June. 4 to 6 weeks of canvassing, followed by voting day itself. This takes things past the July spot for a wedding. As for August to early September the Queen is on holiday at Balmoral.

Ked, did I understand you right? If Kate is the one who is holding back, and quite honestly I doubt it, I can only imagine it may have something to do with William serving in the armed forces.

Long before the media jumped on the bandwagon, I and others have been saying for sometime that the wedding would not take place before 2011. I suspect, the media have taken Williams official engagements into view and have finally come around to our thinking.

2012, is when the Olympics are to be held in London, so that year is out.

I am reminded of jj's post, who was kind enough to share with us the reaction in Sweden to Princess Victoria's engagement. In jj's post, he/she showed us that despite the press trying to whip up interest in the forthcoming wedding, it was viewed as an anti climax. I suspect that is exactly how in the end Britain may react.

Also take note. It strikes me despite what our press says, foreign TV networks show more interest in the W & K relationship than our own TV stations.

MJ, I like that theory. There are Palace people who have planned Royal Weddings before, so they can do all the planning stages, then just put the plan in place after the election. However, I do not see a Fall Wedding, any year. The weather is just too unpredictable. The wedding of the future king will be a national holiday. People will line the streets. The PTB want a lovely, sunny, warm day. Not pictures televised around the world of people shivering in the cold and rain.

MJ, that's a very plausible theory. With all the talk about why they "can't/wouldn't" get married because of the election, it could actually provide an excellent distraction.

I am beginning to wonder if W&K have not already begun to plan the wedding. It would be very easy to decide on a dress designer, flowers, attendants, menus, location, etc… and just not tell anyone. Once the election is over, make the engagement announcement, notify all those involved and have the wedding in the fall. This would allow them privacy during the planning, let them stay under the radar of the upcoming election, and keep the engagement frenzy to a minimum. Timing would work well with the SAR training – PW should finish in June/July of this year.

Kate seem to be really comfortable with her life and ready to take on the challenge of being William's wife. She has come a long way from the girl we first saw several years ago.

I don't know Phoebe, I think the sad part is people along with the tabs have made this royal relationship look very less loving and very much more complicated. With all the rumors of splits and other speculations, things have a way of not looking good at times. The only split we know of is the one that happened in 2007, since they got back together, they have clearly moved on and look more in love than ever.

I think since people have very little answers to the many questions, some jump to their own conclusions and the speculations rolls on. I see a couple that is doing their own thing and don't feel the need to explain their actions. From what I see, they are taking their time and will lets us know what will happen soon.

Right now, the couple make very few appearences (due to William's training) and they spend a great deal of time together. I think the makeup mode ended after 07 and now they are on track. In 08, we saw some major changes and Kate more some very significant royal appearences so I think they left the split behind and have moved on.

And... I also believe that Kate is not dragging her feet. She's always appeared to be a confident, happy young woman, but it goes beyond that now. She looks to me like a young lady who is happy with her life and one who knows EXACTLY what that life will entail.

Rman, I totally agree with your comments in posts 96 & 97. Yes, Kate has great potential, she will be a great consort and the public needs to see it. I also agree that the waiting game hasn't done them much good, however, I think the nay-sayers are losing steam. The longer William and Kate stay together, the clearer it is that their relationship is solid and all the wishful thinking to the contrary is proving to be a very tired and trivial campaign.

I also don't see why they can't marry while William is still in the SAR. This could be an ideal "quieter" start to married life for both of them. Princess Elizabeth spent some time living as a military wife, so why couldn't W&K do so now? Besides, it could potentially lessen the comparisons to Diana and Charles' marriage/early years because it would be a totally different situation in the beginning.

She doesn't necessarily have to be frightened. She could simply not be convinced that the role of PW's wife is the one for her. It is certainly plausible to me. In fact, I am convinced that they split up at the end of last summer, and only started reconciling around Christmas time, and are still in makeup mode.

And in fact any speculation about the state of their relationship, including that they are already engaged, is idle chatter.
