Ex-president hints at Princess Di affair – The Sun
A former French president has sensationally suggested he had a love affair with Princess Diana. The revelations come after a draft copy of Valéry Giscard d’Estaing’s steamy novel, The Princess and the President, was leaked from the publishers…

‘I don’t want to be an ornament’, declares Prince William – Daily Mail
Prince William said today he did not want to be seen as a royal ‘ornament’ and he is determined to improve on his parents’ charitable work. William said he was ‘inspired’ by the work of his parents – the Prince of Wales and the late Diana, Princess of Wales – and also the Queen…

Royal Humble – National Post
She came, she cameo-ed, she purchased a blouse. Princess Beatrice, the doll-like royal, with eyes that give you a tap-tap of Twiggy and a shiver of Kubrick, was in Toronto over the weekend. Our spy found the British shopper “waiting in line like everyone else.” No entourage. But, yes, a bodyguard…

Princes William and Harry, like their parents, have chosen to support charities that are close to their hearts. At 27, William may no longer be down with the kids, but his informality – particularly in private – is popular with young people. “He has an easy manner, which is not officious…

I think William has a good head on his shoulders and he’s really coming into his own. I like that he mentions his mother when he’s interviewed. Diana’s efforts SHOULD be recognized and remembered.

He will be a fantastic King some day! :)

Yeah – I think he’ll make a great King someday, too. I hate reading the comments about them all in the papers because no matter what they do, people say bad things about them ( except Chelsy Davy, who is never criticized in the papers at all for some strange reason – but that’s a different topic ). I noticed at the bottom of the DM article, people wrote in to bash William – I don’t get why. I liked what he said about not wanting to be a “royal ornament” – I think he means it, he really wants to do something helpful with his position.

    Evening My Royal Peeps,

I’ve been very busy lately with work and spending time with my family. I have tried to catch up on some posts and (lol) it’s been one interesting read.

I think it’s safe to say that we have beaten the Kate & Chelsy career topic to death and it’s getting pretty tired now. I’m happy that both girls are doing their own unique things. Kate has joined her family business and Chelsy is on her way to become a lawyer. Both are great jobs and both are very challenging in it’s own way. I’m sure William & Harry are proud of the girls and encourage them to keep up the good work. God bless Chelsy for wanting to be a lawyer, I took a law class for one semester in high school and I nearly lost all my marbles. Law isn’t for me.

I usually don’t agree with this lady because I think her articals can be very nasty, but Amanda Platell’s little artical on William’s role is interesting.

    http://tinyurl.com/y9lbyxl

I admire William’s determination to learn about the military and his charity work but I would like to see him settle down to a royal role. You all may not agree with me but this is just how I feel.

    Hi Rman,

Thank you for posting that. When William first made the statement about not wanting to be an ornament, I thought ‘good for him’, but I must admit that Amanda Platell makes an interesting point about William potentially becoming like his father.

HOWEVER, I also believe that his father is responsible for some of it. By that I mean that, IMO, there has been/is some concern at Clarence House that once William takes on a f/t royal schedule, it will eclipse Charles and Camilla. I believe this is the reason William and Harry were allowed such a slow start where royal responsibilities are concerned. After all, young princes who go to clubs weekly (as was the case for a while there) are not seen as competition for an older PoW and his second wife.

Now, just imagine what it will be like when William marries Kate. ;)

And… IMO Amanda Platell also makes a valid point regarding Eugenie. I recall one of the Kent children going away to school and there were photographs of Prince and Princess Michael carrying luggage, etc. from the car to the dormitory.

For all the criticism Princess Michael generates, I’m sure there are mornings when she reads the headlines and thinks “just imagine if I/we/my children did that…” Lol.

Good morning everyone. Glad to see you back,Rman, you were missed. :)

The DM article was interesting. Sometimes I feel like people are in too much of a hurry to rush William int, ribbon cutting. Charles is the heir, afterall. Bringing William along slowly will insure his success in the end,IMO. Much of what Amanda said was true, William probably does want his cake and wants to eat it too but so what? He is, at 27 the SECOND in line, not the heir. Why not allow him to have a somewhat normal youth before plunging him into fulltime duties and risk making him resentful of a lost youth? And the Charles argument is a valid one. While I do not live in the UK, it seems to me that Charles and Camilla are not exactly what I would call “popular” with the masses. Once William and Kate walk out of the church man and wife, the road for Charles and Camilla gets rougher. It is really a shame to, because despite his mistakes, I think Charles is a hugely bright man who will make a great King. The situation is not without complication, though. If HM lives to even close the age of her mother, the possibility that Charles could predecease her grows. Very dicey, indeed.

Bottom line, the press needs to cut them all a break.

    Good Morning,

Thanks for welcoming me back everybody.

Lisa I do agree with you that William shouldn’t be in a rush, but I do think people wat to see something new and fresh from the Monarchy. I think seeing William get more involved with his charity work will bring some fresh air back into the royal family. I give William credit for focusing on his military training and charity work but as we can see, he has very little time to dive into his charity work because he’s busy training in the military.

I just feel like the Monarchy needs a little sprucing up. Right now we have a bunch of older folks doing royal engagements and there is a need to see something new, fresh and hip in the royal family. But no matter what, I’m still glad to see William & Harry doing well and The Prince’s Forum is a brillant idea.

I agree that the monarchy needs new fresh blood. There is definitely at the the very least,an age gap between the the older and younger royals. I think William is being brought into the spotlight gradually so he is ready and feels comfortable in the public role. I think there is alot going on behind the scenes right now that will come to light over the next couple of years. By the time the big celebration for the queen happens in 2012, I think the face of the monarchy will have a new look for sure. It will be quite interesting to see it all unfold.

Yes Lisa, the Monarchy is in need of some fresh blood. I hope to see Kate a little more next year. I think the more we see her by his side, the better things will be. I just think people need to see that she will play a supporting role in his life. Lisa I too can’t wait to see it all unfold.

I agree I love the Queen but right now it’s a unique situation where we have an older Queen an heir who is also “older” and then a young attractive prince. So what is the answer? The Queen stepping aside and letting Charles reign? Them both stepping aside and letting William reign??

IDK maybe the 2012 date will be a turning point with the monarchy… Whatever is going on by 2012 I really do hope that William and Kate have made it down the aisle by then.

    Hello,

Such a lot oing on but very little in the way of ‘new news’.

We have been back just 24 hours but just lunch time today the talking point was that PW seems not to have spent very much time at Shawbury over the last 6/7 weeks. Anyone have additional info on that ? He has certainly been putting in the personal appearances in many areas not previously established.

However before we went away there was a story that PW was thinking of increasing his service in SaR to take advantage of training for the new helicopters due in service in 2015.

If that were true then the contention that there would be no news until he finished his service career sems to be stretching out th time to ‘an event’. I understand that many think that a marriage could still happen whilst he is serving but PW has this ‘bonding’ habit (good thing in services) with colleagues and KM would again be out in the cold as she seems to be occasionally.

At present she seems to be kept in the background as PW increases his personality to her detriment. This however was forecast as far back as 2007 by many as CH (in those days) fought to re establish both his reputation and public standing following his publicised indiscretions and KM’s ultimatum.

At present I find it very hard to understand how they appear to be apart so much believe me it just wouldn’t suit me! There is however the possibility that they are living together in a private love nest (or mansion) in the Kensington area as when they are out that seems to be the area they chose for meals, cinemas etc.

    Interesting thought !?

Work starts monday hopefully in London for a while anyway.

    Bye Guys.

I really don’t see the Queen stepping aside for Charles but it would be nice to see William doing more. I do understand his situation though, it’s not easy to juggle military duties and royal duties and I think he’s doing the best he can.

JJ & Lisa, I hope we learn something new and solid about William & Kate next year. It’s very evident that the media is just guessing about when the wedding is going to happen and they are left waiting just like us all. For once I would like to get some solid news and to have something great to look forward to. Even though I know that things have to be official for her to be at William’s side for important events, it would be nice to see her a little more. I like seeing them out together as a couple.

Hello, I only wanted to show all my respect to HRH Prince William. Congratulations, sir! If anyone remembers my previous posts, I’ve always wished to see him just like he behaves now. Always wanted to see him more involved in charities. More speeches, more official events which can show his inner ability to help people and to struggle obstacles. He is getting a leader, a future king. And this fact makes me feel that there is a new positive and structured plan in his head.

Whatever happens, I believe they will marry while he is still training. I think they will make a great team and she will help him out with his charity work.

As for the Kate “ultimatum”, no one really knows what really caused the split back in 07. If she did issue an ultimatum, I see that as a good thing and not a bad thing. Sooner or later every woman is going to want to know what our intentions are? and where is the relationship is heading?. At some point the games gets old and you start thinking about your future. But again, we really don’t know what happened, all we can do is guess and I think the media did enough guessing for us all. I’m just glad that things are fine now and that is left in the past.

I just think it’s time to see her a little more.

Rman, my best friend is convinced that there never was an actual “split” in 2007. She thinks it was an attempt (granted a poor one) by William to get the press to go away and that Kate herself probably never wanted any part of it but had no choice but to play it cool for a while.

    Any thoughts?? :)

Katharine, I don’t think William would be foolish enough to do something that he knew would stir up so much media interest. If he did, then shame on him. I do think something occurred in 2007 but do I think it was of the magnitude or length the media made it out to be? No. Hopefully someday we will find out.

  • Phoebe

I agree that the 2007 “split” was an attempt by PW and KM to get the press to back off their relationship.

Ked, is that you posting as “Ker”?

    Hello,

Sorry. I miss hit and put ker instead of ked in #16 above.

How did I get the post away ? It shows how easy it is to put another name up doesn’t it?

Back to the split in 2007. The actual split took place a lot earlier than reported. KM was upset at the way PW was virtually ignoring her and then when they went skiing he took a bunch of his friends including one or two of his ‘harem’ and it was said she tackled him about it. It was at that time she mentioned the worry she had at becoming his Queen and the press infringement on her family as well as herself.

PW took several weeks persuading her to reconsider and even tried to get her to accept the advantages she would then have as his consort soit is said. I did hear that there was a change in their relationship at that time and PW did start ’straying’ for some reason! That may or may not be behind them now.

The recent story of the upset with ZP and MT was wide of the mark so I have heard. There was rumoured disquiet within the wider RF because at least two ‘event dates’ had been earmarked but called off, but by PW or KM who knows?

  • Rman
    September 26th, 2009 13:21
    27

Katharine I do think they took a very brief break in 2007. That happens sometimes in relationships but like Lisa, I don’t think it was such a big deal the way the media made it seem like. The couple had split but said nothing on why it happened, so the media was forced to come up with their own wild ideas and the speculations just took off.

Whatever happened in 07, they both sung a new tune in 08. Seeing Kate at his wings ceremony and Phillips wedding was one thing but seeing Kate at the Order of the Garter service was another. Some tried to down play the Garter appearence but that was a clear signal that a change was made and everything was back on track. Even seeing Charles teaching Kate how to shoot at Balmoral was a good sign. We have been getting good signs ever since. Remember that kiss?

I just hope we will know something solid soon and get a chance to see her a little more. They look too good as a couple to not see them out together often. They have this ‘WOW Factor’ like Brad & Angelina, Barack & Michelle and Beyonce & Jay-Z. All these couples do extraordinary things together and I’m sure William & Kate can do the same.

  • Rman
    September 26th, 2009 13:42
    28

That may have happened Ked but unfortunately I don’t think we will ever know what really happened. What we do know that it was a very brief split and things are much more better now.

This is a very private couple and when the couple don’t say anything about their relationship, people are forced to draw up their own conclusions. Whatever happened in 07 should be left in 07.

Ked my friend, I don’t know about this ZP& MT and PW & KM issue. I think this is pretty much made up in the press. Everyone is waiting to see which couple will jump over the broom first and the media is just having their fun at guessing. I just read on the Royal Internet Forum that Jules Knight addressed the ‘2012′ wedding rumor on TV and he have no idea where that rumor came from. That’s why I said that the tabs is playing a guessing game because no one knows what hell is going on. All we can is wait.

Ked, if he did stray and if that was the reason for a temporary split, at least it was an important lesson learned early on and no doubt certain boundaries were, shall we say,
    clarified.

In William’s position, it’s very easy for him to find someone who’s willing to play around for a bit, but it’s quite another to find someone who’s willing to take it on. I hope he realizes that.

And Rman, I agree about them singing a different tune after the split. I’ve always felt that Kate’s place at his side at family events is very significant. IMO, it speaks volumes about her acceptance by the RF.

where is james? WAS He not invited

Ali Churchill is trouble, I hope Pippa is ready for that – he is the party boy – and lives a very fast and loose life. I would wonder about his intentions and if they were real if i was sister to the possible nex Queen

She should really find a nice boy like Tom van or that James guy they are friends with” was it though?> that is the question – they say a leopard doesn’t change his spots

Really, in regards to Kate’s dress, it is quite a big, square space around her cleavage. I wouldn’t be interested in wearing a dress quite like that. I would find it to be too revealing and flashy. I think that is just Kate’s style. I do think the fabric and flowing sides are gorgeous.

I think your are right about Carole’s dress. I like the color, but I think she looks squeezed on top.

Hello from Paris, I really like the knew bag of kate (on isifa on her way back from the hairdresser). And that fantastic grey dress! waouw!!! gorgeous, Carole middleton is fantastic, I would love kate to wear this red dress too, but the grey one is absolutely beautiful. surely something mary of denmark would wear.

Kate’s dress is not grey, it is metallic. Beautiful anyway and i liked it long – very feminitive.

Metallic is not a colour though. You can have metalics in many colours.

Amazing pics. Thanks to everyone who posted them since yesterday. :)

I really loved Kate’s dress! And Meg is correct that it’s THE color right now. Carole looked wonderful and we can see where Kate gets those gorgeous legs. If a man is supposed to look at his future mother-in-law to see what his wife will look like, William has NOTHING to worry about! And I liked Pippa’s dress too.

And of course it was great to see William there supporting Kate. I think he’s been stepping up a lot lately to be there for her (and her family) and send a very clear message to the nay-sayers. The future is becoming clearer and clearer, eh? ;P

Yes yes yes…William’s message is LOUD AND CLEAR. Anyone who doesn’t get it is deaf, dumb and blind.

After I posted my last comment, I realized that it really is HUGE. You’re so right Lisa! This is after the Uncle what’s his name story and it’s clear that it hasn’t changed anything. William is standing behind Kate AND her whole family. And that is exactly how the story will become ancient history. Yes!!! :)

I think the story was already history before last night. The Starlight Event, with William showing up reminded me very much of William showing up at Take Time to Reflect, the show of photography Kate hosted for Unicef. And that was in 2007. I’m not so sure that him showing up to this event is a sign that anything has changed. I think it’s more of the same.

The “Time to Reflect” photobook exhibit that Kate hosted for Unicef was in December 2007, some months after William and Kate got back together. Obviously William was present then to be supportive of Kate.

He was doing the same thing yesterday by being present at the Starlight charity event. Kate hosted a table, and William was there to be supportive. It can definitely be called ‘more of the same’, :D which in this case means ‘more of the same support and consideration’, which is a good thing for any man to do when he’s in a relationship.

It’s great that William was supportive of Kate in 2007, and he’s still being supportive of her in 2009. That’s the type of ‘more of the same’ that couples should have in their lives. IMO it’s the right thing to do for a guy to be present and supportive of his girlfriend’s endeavours.

I think what William’s presence at the charity event yesterday shows is that Lisa and Katharine are absolutely right as well; William is standing behind Kate and her family, and he’s making no bones about it.

Oh, I should have clarified my statement. Sorry. When I said, “…he’s been stepping up a lot lately to be there for her (and her family) and send a very clear message to the nay-sayers,” I based it on the period in 2008 when the press was not particularly kind to Kate.

There was much criticism over the disco charity event as well as a lot of speculation about William and Kate’s relationship. We heard it all — from her not being fit for the RF to him not being interested her, etc. The nay-sayers said he was using her, he wasn’t really “into her”, he didn’t look happy when he was with her, she was “just a friend”, etc. I could go on and on but we’ve all read it, I’m sure.

Since the end of 2008, however, I believe things changed. I would miss something for sure if I attempted to list it all but, IMO, William has made a conscious effort to show that Kate is very much his g/f and that he stands besides her and her family. And I believe his appearance at the Starlight event was just one more example of it.

It is so obvious The Prince is going to marry her.
Why are people going on about various scenerios.
He’s with her, he loves her, he will marry her. He shows this time and time again, it’s a no brainer.

    Right on, Katharine!

I couldn’t believe the evolution of speculation regarding Kate’s role in William’s life. Some nay-sayers couldn’t simply accept the fact that they’re a couple. It’s always been “they’re just friends”… just friends who go on holidays together… friends with “benefits”… and then William mentions having a girlfriend… oh it’s not Kate; he didn’t say the name Kate… Kate’s just a cover… and then the snog in the car park… oh it was staged; he’s not really with her…

Amazing how determined people can get in disproving their relationship!

Anyway, I’m glad to see Wills supporting Kate’s endeavors. As much I wish we could have gotten more pics of Wills and Kate, I’m glad to see bits of the Middleton family — especially the relatively unknown Papa Mike, who seems like a nice fellow from the pics.

Dagsi….and let’s not forget the witch-craft and the spells she casts over poor, helpless William. Lol. It would be funny, if it wasn’t so sad.
