Prince William & Kate Middleton Dine in the Dark
Prince William and Kate Middleton have been dining at a restaurant where the food is served in complete darkness – so says The Sun …
The lovebirds have become huge fans of the wacky London eaterie, a source close to them revealed yesterday.
Diners at Dans Le Noir? in Clerkenwell are told their tastebuds are heightened when they can’t see.
But the insider said: “William can take Kate along and know no one will see him. He’s actually very shy. He feels uncomfortable when people stare.”

Jayhawk,
Fantastic post! Nice to see some one sticking up for the people who are ambivalent.
Kate Middleton and her mother look gorgeous! Not a fan of Pippa’s dress though. KM’s got style no arguing that! Love the gun-metal gray!
September 29th, 2009 15:19
Jayhawk and Frank,
Thanks so much for being the voice of reason on BRW. Thanks for standing up for those of us who don’t know much about the Middletons and voice our honest opinion, which may be good, bad, or ugly – about what we see.
** BRW – If you don’t know about the Middletons then why would you have a bad or ugly opinion of them? Just curious… **
September 29th, 2009 15:31
Thank you for the compliments. Felt good to finally take time to get that off my chest.
Anyway, I just got word that my visa application to study in England is being processed right now. One step closer.
I have a very long layover in London at Heathrow Airport before the last leg of my journey. Does anyone know if it is possible to pay to store bags someplace? Might be nice to go see some sights while I’m waiting.
September 29th, 2009 15:42
Let’s see how this mutual admiration society reacts the next time someone disagrees.
September 29th, 2009 15:49
Jayhawk,
Congratulations! Sorry I don’t know much about Heathrow, hopefully someone here does.
September 29th, 2009 15:55
Thank you.
I guess maybe I’ll just have the carry on to contend with at that point. Maybe that wouldn’t be too bad to tote around with me. if needed. It’s not a done deal yet though. I have to be at th eschool by Monday to avoid being dropped by the programme, so that only gives me a short amount of time to have the visa finish being processed and to receive it by courier, but things are definitely moving along!
Maybe I’ll go see Buckingham Palace in person, then stop by Boujis or Raffles too and have a look from the outside. LOL.
September 29th, 2009 16:10
I just got this message:
Your application has been approved and the visa has been issued.
I can’t believe it!!!
September 29th, 2009 16:19
Congrats to you Jayhawk!
Pheobe,
No need to be cynical. At the end of the day I don’t think anyone takes this seriously. Everybody has their own lives, I assume.

September 29th, 2009 21:40
That is a nice snippet Rman it’s nice to see her being acknowledged for being normal. Some of the other websites are just awful in condeming her and her family for absolutely nothing other than pure hatred..
September 29th, 2009 23:27
Being down-to-earth, low maintenance, gracious and humble are always assets. Hope Kate never loses those qualities.
September 29th, 2009 23:29
I know JJ. I guess it’s something you have to deal with when you’re dating William. I took some time to read some comments on the DM site and there are plenty of people asking,” why are there so much hatred directed at this family?”.
When I look at pictures of Kate, I see a down to earth young lady, who is dealing with the pressures of being William’s long term girlfriend the best way she knows how. She looked great that night and her family looked beautiful as well. I think it’s safe to say that Carole knew the world was going to have different opinions about her dress. She may be in her fifties but she worked that dress very well and it takes a great deal of courage to do it in front of the British press. You’ve got to have all the confidence in the world to do that.
September 30th, 2009 03:00
atx,
Thanks!
JJ,
You are wrong, no one is condeming Kate out of pure hatred. No one is! It is just not true!
That type of speech is designed to inflame emotions, we just don’t need that level of “trolling” as you call it here at BRW!
** BRW – To all – Enough. Stay on topic please. Don’t force me go crazy with the delete key…**

September 30th, 2009 07:16
BRW,
Sounds exciting! Going crazy with the “delete key.” Is that a threat or an offer?
Jut kidding! I’ll be good from now on.
September 30th, 2009 08:49
You guys are crazy today!!
Good to feel some positive attitudes – some of the comments from previous posts were getting a little heated and boring.
KM is so classy. I believe she will go down in history equal to Jackie Kennedy. Always head held high, very stylish and as we will find out – very caring and the backbone to PW.
September 30th, 2009 08:59
There is one major difference between Kate Middleton and Jackie Kennedy Onassis.
Jackei Kennedy Onassis acted like a lady ALL THE TIME. She was indisputably pure class.
September 30th, 2009 09:20
Jackie Onassis was a social climbing gold-digger. KM is way ahead of her in the class department.
September 30th, 2009 09:34
Kd,
Let’s keep the positive vibes going!
September 30th, 2009 09:36
Phoebe, I’m just curious? Are you American, or another nationality?
September 30th, 2009 09:38
Sorry, but no offense, Phoebe, don’t some people think the same thing about Kate? I’m not disagreeing, but I’ve seen articles making the same assumption about Kate. If anything there is a similarity between KM and Jackie O. LOL!
September 30th, 2009 09:40
Morning,
Jackie Kennedy was truly a classy woman of her time. Over the years we have seen Kate, she has remained very classy and lady like as well.
Kate has gone through things that Jackie didn’t have to go through before her marriage to John, it’s a whole different ball game today.
Kd, I believe she gives William the strength to carry on and encourages him. The first time I read that she gave him some encouragement, was when he was thinking about dropping out of St. Andrew’s. She along with his father encouraged him to stay, change a course and work hard. That’s the kind of woman all of us men want. A woman that will help us carry on.
September 30th, 2009 09:52
I’m aware that some people think KM is a social climbing gold-digger. Well, I can’t help their stupidity. But just because people think that, am I supposed to accept that as the truth and keep my mouth shut if I disagree?
And yes, I am from the US.
September 30th, 2009 09:58
These two ladies are different, each one were in life their own person. Lets try not to compare Kate Middleton, because we will just end up disagreeing with nasty stuff like for example:
Kate is not the lover of Prince Harry unlike Jackie to Bobby Kennedy or
Kate is not the lover of Daniel Craig unlike Jackie to Marlon Brandon.
September 30th, 2009 09:59
Indeed, lets keep the positive vibe going.
Jackie showed great strength, class and dignity throughout her public life. Kate don’t have a public life yet but she too has shown great strength, class and dignity throughout her private life. This is something the press rarely talks about.
September 30th, 2009 10:00
Guys I think we should give Kate a chance to reveal her personality to us before we start comparing her to others. As of now, we know very little about her.
What Kate has had to endure during her relationship with William gives us some clue as to her inner strength and I have a feeling we will hear quite a bit about that strength when the time comes because I personally believe that many women would have bowed out years ago. She hangs in there, supporting him, and in many way, sacrificing herself. I think all that will come to light and the picture will be clearer.
I feel for Kate and her family, especially since the Starlight event. Instead of being praised for doing a great thing, the press jump all over Carole for her dress. This family was dragged through the mud by the UG scandal and they came out with their heads high with William at their side. If that does not say something, nothing does.
September 30th, 2009 10:00
Seriously, I know you were aware. That was just ironic. Jokes.
September 30th, 2009 10:44
Yes, so let’s move on and let the Lady Kennedy Onasis Widow rest in peace.
September 30th, 2009 10:59
I think it was very SAD that the press hardly talked about the charity itself. They only talked about what the the Middleton women were wearing. This is ridiculous.
I love to see that Kate has a good relationship with her family. How many people have that? And her parents are still married – this is great and certainly very intriguing for William.
And we should stop comparing Kate to anyone – not to Diana, Jackie O., whomever. Of course, the press will come up with it, because they have to write something, but we should not be doing this.
Diana was William’s mom. Though she was a very special person, I am certain Kate would not like to be compared to her (dead) mother in law. It is … well.. a bit creepy. And William probably does not like it either. He himself said more than once “let her (Diana) rest in peace”.
And to compare her with Jackie O – again they were so different, and the times are so different. Jackie O days in the White House were about 50 years ago.
If you absolutely want to compare her – compare her to the Crown Princesses Maxima, Mary, Letizia, Mette-Marit. At least this makes some sense.
September 30th, 2009 11:11
Yes, it’s true, there was very little about the charity. But that’s the way these things work. Reports on high profile charity events almost always consist of pictures of the well-connected sporting expensive clothes. In this case, for those who are discerning enough to ignore the crapola dished up by the papers, it did bring some publicity to the charity, probably more than it would have gotten had the Middleton’s not attended.
Just my opinion, of course.
September 30th, 2009 11:16
@ Jayhawk
I am not so sure if it is still possible to store luggage at the airport. For security reasons – I think they stopped this.
If you have to change gates, do not underestimate the time you will need. Heathrow is really terrible, it takes you forever to go from one gate to the other.
September 30th, 2009 11:30
Sorry I opened that can of worms (Jackie Kennedy) – I merly wanted to point out that I think KM will have a big impact on the world when she finally marries PW. I only wanted to point out that she really is a class act- always a lady. After how many years of dating PW – she has kept to herself, never tried to defend herself against the attackers, has never spoke of PW to the press etc.
Rman- yes, that is exactly what I refer to when I spoke of KM being the backbone of PW. Giving him the encouragement that he needs now and then. They always say, behind a powerful man is a powerful woman – something like that.
September 30th, 2009 11:31
Kd, I agree that there has never been an occasion where KM has not acted in a ladylike manner.
September 30th, 2009 11:32
Lisa – I totally agree with you.
September 30th, 2009 11:41
We still have many things to learn about Kate. I agree with you Lisa, Kate is the only one that can reveal her true personality and we just have to wait for her to do that. Due to her silence all these years, she still remains a mystery a bit.
There’s no doubt though, she is very supportive of William and you can see the love there.
The charity event was great and the media should recognize their involvement with Starlight instead of putting the focus on Carole’s dress. JMO!
September 30th, 2009 11:47
Thank you for the info about Heathrow Chris, I’ll keep that in mind!
September 30th, 2009 11:50
This past Saturday’s even was a Charity fundraiser by “Invitation”, the RSVP was £ 100.00. The idea was to auction prices by the hammer.
Yes, the big question, one of the prices auctioned was a party funded by Party Pieces for 20 children.
I can disclose that there where lots of prices ranging from exotic trips, dinner for 2, art, others.
As you know many Charity Organizations have a way in which you may become an organizer, for example Prince Harry’s Sentable – you may carry out an activity being the organizer. Their website sets the rules.
For more information about Starlight Foundation UK branch
http://www.starlight.org.uk/
Trivia: Kate Middleton has and is still working for two (2) of the corporate supports of Starlight UK; The Royal Berkshire Shooting School and Party Pieces respectively.
September 30th, 2009 11:53
Rman, I wonder if the obvious press ban on pictures of Kate and William is coming back to bit them on the butt. If they would have given the press a couple of good shots, maybe Carole somewhat poor choice of attire would have been overlooked. A simple agreement penned by Miguel Head to allow a couple of pictures with the couple provided the charity was given the spotlight seems like a pretty simple thing. To bad nobody thought of it beforehand.
September 30th, 2009 11:55
Very true, Chris. It seems like the press was more concerned with the superficial aspects of the evening.
As for comparisons to other regal consorts from reigning houses of Europe, people still get angry if you bring that up. Been there and done that a few months ago. It seems like that would make the most sense, but people here still get heated about it.
Everyone needs to deal with the fact that there will always be a comparison to some one. No way around it.
September 30th, 2009 12:09
Usually the media does not publish much news on by invitation fundraisers but the famous people who go to it.
September 30th, 2009 12:26
Lisa I just found it wierd that no more photos of the couple was published. I know more had to be taken. We had more pictures at the Boodles Boxing Ball last year.
Did anyone scan the new Hello! artical, the couple is featured on the cover.
atx I agree. No matter what, Kate will be compared to the late Princess of Wales at some point. She probably will be compared to Crown Princess Mary too. Kate looks like her.
September 30th, 2009 12:37
I guess the way that it could be looked at is that some publicity is better than no publicity. Even though the focus ended up being some things that were unrelated to the charity itself, every story probably mentions the charity by name. That may be a lot more publicity in and of itself than the charity would have received if the Middletons hadn’t been there at all.
When Harry did the Wellchild awards, I heard some in depth stories about the children who received the awards. If the organizers of the Starlight event had brought stories more to the forefront about the children who are helped by the charity, perhaps by submitting info to the major newspapers, maybe that could have taken some of the focus off of CM.
September 30th, 2009 12:40
I find many of the current princesses could be sisters: Mary, Letizia, Victoria, even Queen Ranja. And then Kate, who is probably the next.
They have brown long hair, they all are very pretty and stylish.
September 30th, 2009 12:48
Rman,
It’s pretty sad, but it’s reality. In that aspect I do feel bad for her. I am guilty of making comparisons (I think everyone here knows that), but KM’s going to have a lifetime of it.
Chris,
They do look similar in some aspects. I love Maxima and Letizia they are my favorites by far out of the gals who married into the family. I can’t wait to see Victoria’s coronation (whenever that comes) that will be so exciting to watch. I hope they show it in the US.
September 30th, 2009 13:06
@ atx
I am totally with you. My favs – among the ones who married into a royal family – are Maxima (blond though) and Letizia, too. And Queen Ranja of Jordan, who is just beautiful.
Victoria is very pretty, but she is a born crown princess, there is a difference.
Lets see how Kate develops once she is a member of the RF. She has all the potential.
September 30th, 2009 14:02
Jayhawk@54 true about the any publicity by association and the indepth news a la Harry “award”.
Perhaps Kate should apply/send in name of Starlight Foundation the news and press information, which this past Saturday’s by invitation fundraiser is not yet inserted in their website or they do not put the news of by invitation fundraisers, which usually are assisted by celebrities, famous, rich and aristos. I have noticed that Sentible doesn’t put that kind of news either in their site when a Harry friend carries out a invitation fundraiser event.
September 30th, 2009 22:19
I just want to ask, have anyone ever seen these pictures of Charles & Camilla by Mario Testino?
http://www.mariotestino.com/page/222
I guess Mario will end up taking some official photographs of William & Kate.
September 30th, 2009 23:08
Queen Rania of Jordan is pretty much the gold standard for comparison if you factor in her education, professional career, charity work, advocacy, everything. At the moment, all Kate is is pretty, but hopefully that will begin to change as we see more of her (especially with the Starlight benefit).
September 30th, 2009 23:20
Rman,
never saw testino photos of hrh charles and camilla. many thanks, i have to say camilla has a really pretty smile, not the ugly person a lot of people said she was, she has quite a nice face
you rock rman,
October 1st, 2009 00:06
Wow Rman
He makes Camilla look very normal and pretty even…. Never thought I would hear myself say that but…
October 1st, 2009 00:32
The DM has a piece today on Kate’s fashion..
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1217312/The-making-princess-How-Kate-Middletons-style-evolved.html
October 1st, 2009 01:18
I was kind of shocked to come across those pictures. One of the pictures I have seen before but the other’s were a total surprise. They seem to really like working with Testino and I guess William & Kate will work with him too. I would actually like to see a formal picture of William & Kate. We have gotten so many paps pictures that I’m starting to get really tired of them now. For once I would like to see a nice formal picture of them.
Thanks Lisa for the link. Kate’s style has really changed over the years. It’s nice to know that William finds her beautiful no matter what she looks like.
October 1st, 2009 03:58
Yes, Rman, I’ve seen one of the Testino pictures. I believe it was released for their first anniversary.
As far as Camilla’s appearance goes, well, I have a difficult time thinking of her as a beautiful person and I am NOT basing that on looks, but actions. Sorry, but that is my opinion.
And thanks Lisa, I was happy to see the DM article on Kate. Is the tide turning? Are they getting prepared for the inevitable? I think Kate has class and poise that really shine through. Like Diana, she looks great whether she’s at an afternoon of polo or attending a society wedding. (Hurry up, please, William.) Lol.
October 1st, 2009 07:58
“…getting prepared for the inevitable…” I like that, Katharine.
October 1st, 2009 08:09
I agree Kathrine. KM looks great dressed up or down. And yes, lets get on with the announcement!
October 1st, 2009 08:20
The title of the article tells the story. Yes,they are preparing for the inevitable. I just wish the inevitable would get here already.
October 1st, 2009 11:05
I think Camilla needs to do something else with her hair. The way she wears it is not flattering.
I thought the DM article was snarky. I think the picture of KM at “Blenheim” is the best I have ever seen of her.
October 1st, 2009 11:25
Interesting article I hope this means that the powers that be behind closed doors are working their pr machine….. We will see…
October 1st, 2009 12:11
Good Evening,
I agree, I think the time is approaching. We may not learn anything until next year but yes, I think the time is approaching.
Camilla looks good from time to time. Obviously Testino had to work some kind of miracle. I have to admit, Charles & Camilla do look like a nice older couple.
October 1st, 2009 13:14
jj,Although the heading of the article was very leading, the content was not so nice. I do find it,shall we say, coincidental, that an article about Kate’s fashion appears the day after the unflattering article about Carole’s fashion.
I just wish The powers that be would stop playing games and make things official. I mean, really. It would put an end to a whole lot of crap. I really hate all the cloak and dagger stuff they seem to engage in.
October 1st, 2009 15:05
You mean the press, it’s not W and/or Kate’s fault the press pushing?
October 1st, 2009 16:14
Me,I was really referring to the Palace PR machine in general. I think the way they deal with things makes the situation worse then it has to be. JMO.
October 1st, 2009 16:30
Lisa, I agree wholeheartedly regarding the BP PR machine. Quite often they are their own worst enemy.
October 1st, 2009 18:31
Well after a second look I see what you mean.. Sigh…
October 1st, 2009 19:15
I feel sorry for W&K with the press pressure. Pressure on Kate as waiting. Pressure on William as making her wait. The general public who do not follow royal sites but only read the news of W&K the waiting maker and the waiting girl year after year. Really is an akward situation for the couple, I hope they are stronger than 2007.
October 1st, 2009 23:54
