Does she work? I thought she was supposed to have a “job” as “lawyer” with the trumped up law degree she has.

Daddy’s money sure must be nice. Wish I could’ve had a Master’s at 23 and not had to work a day in my life!

Katie, there is no such thing as a “trumped up” law degree. Getting a law degree is hard work, and a first year job as a lawyer is incredibly difficult and involves very long, hard hours.

She’s studying for one (1) more yearaccording to Mandrake (The Telegraph).

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mandrake/6142897/The-women-in-the-life-of-Prince-Harry.html

    Scroll down.

Strange that her ‘placement’ in A&O firm hasn’t been mentioned since February 2009, not even a Katie Nicholl, Richard Kay actual article ?!

Found this on the web. As stated in the Telegraph, CD is now in her Legal Practice Course (LPC).

    To become a solicitor:
    Route 1:
    1. A levels – the subjects are not important.
    2. Law degree.
    3. Legal Practice Course (LPC). This takes 1 year if studied full time and is college based. You may be able to do it at the same university you took your law degree.
    4. Training Contract. This is working for a solicitor’s firm as a trainee. There are some formal training courses, but much of it is doing basic legal donkey work. This takes 2 years. Provided you pass the exams you are now a qualified solicitor.

    Route 2:
    1. A-Levels.
    2. Any non-law degree.
    3. Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). This takes 1 year if studied full time and is college based. It is basically a “conversion” course to give you the academic legal knowledge you need.
    4. LPC – as above.
    5. Training contract – as above.

    Route 3:
No formal qualifications. Work as a legal secretary or similar and work through legal training with the Institute of Legal Executives. Eventually you become a legal executive and then a Fellow of the Institute. At this stage you can do the LPC and you then qualify as a solicitor without the need for a training contract. This route can take many years, however you are gaining legal experience all the time, and legal executives are respected professionals in their own right.

    To become a Barrister:
There are two routes similar to routes 1 and 2 above. Once you have your law degree or GDL you then take:
    1. Bar Vocational Course (BVC). This is the barrister’s equivalent of the LPC. It takes 1 year if studied full time and is college based.
    2. Pupillage. This is basically working as a dogsbody for a senior barrister. It takes 1 year then you are qualified.

In all cases there is tough competition for places, so your academic results for A-Levels, Degree, GDL, LPC/BVC need to be excellent.

Thanks Lisa, great find !!! I hear no moaning from and with the likes when articles spread like wildfire about Kate and the “supposed jobs” in New York, etc.

    Biased, yes.

Good for Chelsy, great to know her parents support her continued studies. They (her father) may need her services one day.

Shows that she’s not still going to school to avoid working, but because it is a necessary part of her training to become a lawyer.

Yes, very true! But the point I wanted to show was that during December 2008 and January 2009 together with the break up story, there where articles around the world stating that Chelsy was hired by the Law firm A&O, but there hasn’t been a single proof about that.

Only Mandrake’s article/sentence about Miss Davy’s furthering for one (1) more year schooling, which is why we have seen her partying during weekdays.

As Lisa find, those 2 years of donkey work and as I understand is so grueling that there is NO time for weekday parties, clubbing less.

IF this would have been the case, like we have seen, of Kate and the false articles about the apprenticeship with Testino…she would have been fried by the Royal Blog Katers (haters).

Well, I don’t understand your point. She is obviously still in school, since it is required for her career. She may also have been hired by A&O contingent on her successfully completing her LPC. And she is entitled to go out occasionally, regardless of how gruelling her schedule is. She probably needs it more. My experience, personal and otherwise, is that those who work hard also party hard.

i know my friend studied law in england
i beleive it was 3 years in all

2 full time with summers off like any other degree

and then 1 for the bar type courses at guildhall he did it

    anyway

was three years and then you went on to train

he found the course incredibly difficult

he was in the south doing his

ps the year before you did your final year when you summered with a firm
you did interviews and were picked for a firm
    for articles type thing
maybe she was picked last summer?

I think it would be very hard to go to school when you are in the public eye

    what if you failed?

It takes a lot of guts to be publically out there fighting for a tough professional degree

and everyone is waiting for her to finish school and then go to a place of work

a natural progression i would think

Thanks,Rman. It was an interesting POV although I do not agree with the woman’s thoughts both in regards to Chelsy and Kate.I look at Kate Middleton smiling ear to ear at a charity dinner or watching her BF,the future king greeting children and the last thing that comes to my mind is “poor Kate”.

I agree Lisa. I still find it amazing that these two women has to deal with soo much harsh criticism.

I think people will continue to say “Poor Kate” until she walks down the isle with William.

I wouldn’t put too much weight on what Colette Fitzpatrick has to say on royal girlfriends!! While she seems like a nice pleasant woman (she also appears on an Irish breakfast show among other things) I doubt she has really given them much thought or investigation at all…Not many do in Ireland, but the image of poor dull Kate versus fun sassy Chelsy is prevalent here, not sure why.
