The voice on the phone was polite and well-mannered. It was also one of the least demanding bookings for a restaurant table – no special requests for an out-of-the-way corner, just a table for two at 8pm.
But when the couple, who had booked under the name of Goldsmith, arrived at Gilmour’s in Chelsea, staff were taken aback. For the guests were Prince William and Kate Middleton and their table was in the middle of the busy restaurant in full view of other diners.
William and Kate, however, took their seats without demur while the Prince’s bodyguards, for whom no table had been reserved, sat at the bar.
‘They seemed just like any other young couple out on a date holding hands and leaning across the table to whisper to each other,’ says a fellow diner. ‘One might have expected them to want to sit somewhere more discreet. In fact, they had the most visible spot in the place. But, perhaps because they were so ordinary, no one paid them a blind bit of notice.’

I just have an answer for the booking and there is no place. But if you look at the site of the restaurant you have a calendar and you\’ll see there is no availability until january 2010. So easy for everybody to be in the \”known\” no need to pretend to known and say \”I can assure you ….\”… just check the website of the restaurant

The website could show the “official” availability, but I’m sure there’s a table or two not included in the mix that is used by the owner/mgr at their discretion.
Ingrid Sewards editors letter is in and she pays a nice tribute to Charles. She also goes on to mention that Diana would have supported his causes and views. I have always thought she would.

Who is Christopher?
Christopher Gilmour, the owner of the Restaurant.
I think it should be pointed out that Richard Kay’s article does not say William and Kate were able to book a table for the same day the reservation was placed.
Maybe some people jumped to that conclusion or made that assumption, and if they did, they were off the mark.
Here is what the article said about the table reservation, word for word:
“The voice on the phone was polite and well-mannered.
William and Kate, however, took their seats without demur while the Prince’s bodyguards, for whom no table had been reserved, sat at the bar.”
So there it is, in plain print. Nowhere in that article did it say that William and Kate didn’t have to wait months for their reserved table.
For all we know, the night they dined could’ve been 5 months after the day the reservation was actually called in.
I don’t believe everything Richard Kay writes because he seems to only get gossip about William and Harry right about 50% of the time. The other 50% he’s just totally off.
Case in point of 50% wrong: (As Me said in another post) Mrs. Middleton having lunch with the Queen at Ascot, anyone?
But I believe they actually went to the restaurant for several reasons. One reason I believe it is because the article gives the name and location of the restaurant, and the name of the restaurant’s owner as well.
Another reason I believe it is because it’s very feasible that William and Kate would go out to eat occasionally. Not only have they gone out to eat before, but they’re human and they’re entitled to go out to eat sometimes just like all other humans.
I do believe Richard Kay added in his own ideas and thoughts about the ‘Goldsmith’ thing though, and the ‘friend’ quoted in the article could be Katie Nicholl for all we know.
I find it doubtful that someone would remember a voice they heard on the phone making a reservation 3-5 months after the fact. Not disagreeing. This is probably part of the 50% made up, or, as someone mentioned, they managed to snag a table that happened to be free.
Well I’m just happy to hear they went out and I hope it turned out to be a good night for them. Sometimes you get tired of cooking.
I know William cooks but I wonder do Kate ever cook?
after doing a little research i think i may know where the bolthole is that Kate and William are staying at…
just above the king’s road
i am guessing at this right now …but i have a feeling I may be right …
^ Hmmm… Does anyone remember this news about a bachelor pad for William in Pimlico’s Dolphin Square?

But no I don’t see their names and i don’t know if he is there
i wondered at the time if they were snuffing out who was ‘telling’ on them about stuff>>>
^ possible……
Interesting girls, whatever it may be, the couple apparently have the options to go out without the hoopla. (Read: normal places with no paparazzi or spilling the beans before and during).
Ditto Her Majesty and Prince Phillip

Hi Lisa,
LOL, thanks for the link. I saw that link the other day but I just didn’t bother to post it.
I somehow made up my mind that I’m not going to pay any attention to those articals, mostly for my own sanity. I’m just looking forward to the news….whenever it comes.
I hear ya,Rman. I have a pal in the area and she emailed me the article. Don’t ya love all these “sources”lol?
LOL, I know. I do believe it won’t be long though but I’m just not paying these articals any attention.
Yesterday I was looking at Peter & Autumn’s Hello! interview on Zinio.com and I saw some pictures that I haven’t seen before. They was taken before the wedding and I thought Hello! did a very good job. I know people thought it was in bad taste for them to make a deal with Hello! but people have to understand that is what people want, an indepth look into the lives of the young royals. It was nice to see those loving pictures of Peter & Autumn at home, they looked like a very beautiful couple.
I would like to see William & Kate do the same when their time comes. Over the years we have seen them at the polo fields, vacations and weddings but we have never seen what they are like behind closed doors.
OH, if only it were true!
But I sincerely doubt it would happen before the holidays. I expect William to have a summer wedding so this would make for one very LONG engagement. I don’t see BP or CH setting themselves up like that voluntarily. Lol.
Oh I don’t believe these “sources”. I was just catching up with my royal news after some computer down time over the weekend.
Some observations I have, though. I think the RAF thing is interesting. I wonder if they knew long ago this would happen and William would train but never serve?
I am becoming pretty convinced that W/K are living together in London…good for them.
One thing is for sure, with William and Kate, nothing is predictable and nothing would surprise me. Time will tell.
i think paparazzi rebuilding stories with william and kate since they have been n low key status
Rman, would you mind posting a link to the Peter & Autumn Zinio article? Would be very grateful. Thanks!
It’s ok Rman, I found it. Thanks!
