    Good Evening,

I just came across these videos of It’s a Royal Knockout on YouTube. Although many people thought it was an embarassement to the Monarchy at the time, I thought it was great that the royals did this for their charities.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlG06yxLeLY

I hope you enjoy and laugh. Princess Anne is very funny.

** BRW – I made a page about this show with a bit of info a while back but not all the clips where available.

Looks like someone has uploaded the whole lot. Thanks for posting the link Rman.

  • Mathilde #4 - December 5, 2009 at 4:13 pm

Thanks for the link, Rman. It’s fun to watch.
In part 9 I’ve noticed young Holly Branson with her father watching the tournament. She was so cute…

Seems like HM is not fooling around with these photographers. The attorney mentioned is also the one who represents Kate.

  • jj #6 - December 5, 2009 at 5:22 pm

Hmmmm I guess they are going to get tough Lisa…. The press has given them cause by printing inflammatory stories so they only have themselves to blame….

  • Lisa #7 - December 5, 2009 at 5:31 pm

IMO there is no doubt that Kate will be at Sandringham this year.

And…Is this sentence the smoking gun of the current “press ban”?

“The change of tack was quietly planned earlier this year when Samantha Cohen, the Queen’s press secretary, and Mr Tyrrell, a senior partner with London solicitors Harbottle & Lewis, made a private visit to Tim Toulmin, the director of the PCC”

Is this sentence the smoking gun of the current “press ban”?

  • jj #9 - December 5, 2009 at 6:04 pm

    Lisa

I’m reaaaaalllly confused by the above article could you break it down for me please???

  • Lisa #10 - December 5, 2009 at 6:10 pm

jj, it is somewhat confusing. there are several ways to read it,IMO. First of all,Mandrake grabs the readers attention with the headline. What I think he is suggesting is that this person has been brought in as a LIW for Sophie on the books but may be there to assist in planning the royal wedding. He then sheds doubt on his own theory later to cover himself. The confusing thing to me is that I always thought it was the Lord Chamberlain who would \”plan\” the wedding. Maybe this woman is there to assist Kate during the process. A kinder, more gentle option to a stuffy man with a stuffier title. :)

  • jj #11 - December 5, 2009 at 6:14 pm

oooh I see. Cloak and dagger.. I guess it stops him from being sued but he definitely tried to grab the headlines with that title!

  • Lisa #12 - December 5, 2009 at 6:16 pm

Just a guess..I am starting to lean again to things coming together in jan/feb. We’ll see..

  • sall #13 - December 5, 2009 at 6:33 pm

JJ,Iam with you .I cannot make head or tail of the above article .As usual another KM,PW wedding headline to sell newspapers.
Lisa thank God for diversity of opinion that for it yet more evidence of the upcoming wedding btn KM and PW as “the woman maybe there to assist Kate in the wedding preparations”

  • kat #14 - December 5, 2009 at 6:35 pm

    Lisa,
What you posted sounds logical. I just read the article and was totally confused. By the way, what specifically does a lady in waiting do? Can you have moore than one? I thought that I read somewhere that Pippa would be a lady in waiting to Kate. Thanks for any info. By the way, I think that there are two of us posting as Kat. Any suggestions?

  • sall #15 - December 5, 2009 at 6:41 pm

I meant “that for you it is yet more evidence”

  • jj #16 - December 5, 2009 at 6:57 pm

Well according to the Wikipedia lady in waiting is a term used

A lady-in-waiting (also called waiting maid) is a female personal assistant at a noble court, attending to a queen, a princess or other noblewoman

it also goes on to state that

The Women are in regular attendance, but the Mistress of the Robes and the Ladies of the Bedchamber are normally only required for ceremonial occasions

Sophie Rheese Jones got married in 1999 so why on earth would she need a lady in waiting now???

  • jj #17 - December 5, 2009 at 7:02 pm

Also is Mandrake usually a reliable source?

  • jj #18 - December 5, 2009 at 7:25 pm
  • jj #19 - December 5, 2009 at 7:29 pm

Also note at the end it says James went fishing with the Queens cousin in Nantucket..

  • Lisa #20 - December 5, 2009 at 7:32 pm

Yes the plot sure is thickening!

  • jj #21 - December 5, 2009 at 7:37 pm

    Lisa

What is also interesting is that most of haitey kaites articles about Kate Middleton are now edited by another writer. She still manages to get a snipe in that the Middletons are the ones planning the PR overhaul as opposed to the palace (who would be the ones involved if Kate was going to be involved in joint projects with William)

I guess the crazy story season started late this year….

  • Lisa #22 - December 5, 2009 at 7:43 pm

Well, if Kate is to be a “Princess in waiting” next year, then she will be engaged next year because you can bet if she is to do events “alongside Prince William” as the article states, she will be engaged.

This article does appear to be spliced together with a pieces of old info and may be intended to compete with the mandrake stuff…

And yes, hatey Katey definitely has been muzzled. LOL.

  • Lisa #23 - December 5, 2009 at 7:52 pm

LOL…well, they dropped the “princess in waiting” headline and changed it to compare her with the late princess of Wales. Dopes.

  • Rman #24 - December 5, 2009 at 8:11 pm

    Good Night All,

I’m now catching up on some reading here and yes I do think it’s time for Kate to come out of the shadows and be seen by William’s side.

  • Me #25 - December 5, 2009 at 8:15 pm

jj said: Also note at the end it says James went fishing with the Queens cousin in Nantucket..

I can guarantee that its true. Saw the private pics.

  • kat #26 - December 5, 2009 at 8:22 pm

Thanks jj for the information. From the article and what Lisa commented, it would seem that on paper she is atetached to Sophie, If for some reason Zara or William needs her for wedding planning, then she is already in place. Another thing to think about is that the Lady in Waiting person is there to help plan a wedding. If Kate is soon to take over that roll. It sounds as if things are on their way for Kate and William.

Fishing off Nantucket in November??? I don’t believe it. More BS from the DM.

  • jj #29 - December 5, 2009 at 8:30 pm

Apparently according to others as well as “me” the fishing trip took place in the summer early fall not November..

  • sojourner #30 - December 5, 2009 at 8:39 pm

I think the whole article is fishy :-/

On the one hand, it is perfectly plausible — the Middletons have, for at least several years now. On the other hand, why hang out all the way out in the US, when there are some many lakes, and oceans, nearby in the UK? Is the distance supposed to make the invitation more significant?

I am waiting for the “news” about GG and HRM swapping gazpacho recipes.

  • sojourner #31 - December 5, 2009 at 8:41 pm

for some reason, part of my post was lost. It shoudl have read “… several years now, socialized with aristocrats…”

Doesn’t this article make you wonder if the whole Pippa story was made up given that he likes to keep his relationships private? It definitely would not have been private if he was dating pippa

  • jj #36 - December 5, 2009 at 9:39 pm

The article has also been edited to make it seem as if Carol Middleton spoke directly with KN when in fact she took a quote from the starlight website

Kate’s mother Carole says: ‘Party Pieces will provide packs of Christmas goodies, games and decorations – everything that nurses need to create a fun party for children on the wards.

Last Christmas we helped Starlight with more than 200 parties for some 10,000 children and we sincerely hope to better that this year.’

jj, are you saying rumors had it that this guy was seeing PM? Well, if the Middleton brother hangs out with him, it seems that they are all good friends. For better or worse.

privacy is very important for them i think the queen is making some actions

  • Lisa #44 - December 6, 2009 at 1:28 am

One way to look at this is that HM,ahead of our famous announcement to be, is trying to get a handle on the press explosion that will occur once Kate is announced as William’s future wife. It’s almost obvious, actually. I am very impressed that she is being so proactive about it too. Smart lady. She clearly wants things to start off on a good foot try to avoid Kate having to endure the kind of treatment by the press that Diana endured.

BTW, the New York Times has picked up the story!

  • Alaska #48 - December 6, 2009 at 2:56 am
  • Rman #49 - December 6, 2009 at 4:23 am

Well I really don’t think it was smart to write an article on Kate doing charity work like Diana. People always get the wrong idea when Kate and Diana is mentioned in the same sentence. Yes we have seen Kate getting involved with charity work but I think we will end up seeing Kate’s own charitable interest than Diana’s. We all know that there will never be another Diana and I know the media will try to compare the two anyway but I think we have to understand that this girl is not trying to be like the late princess. It’s just time for Kate’s own personality to shine.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s going to happen this upcoming year.

  • jj #55 - December 6, 2009 at 11:38 am

    Thanks Lisa

It seems as if they are taking a stand.. Whether it is because of Kate or not remains to be seen… I wonder if any paps who try will be arrested or just told to move on? I guess there will be no photographs this year except going to church which I highly doubt that Kate will attend.

  • Lisa #56 - December 6, 2009 at 1:03 pm

A new article in the Telegraph states that neither Kate nor Chelsy will be at Sandringham at Christmas.

  • Jj #57 - December 6, 2009 at 2:26 pm

So according to this it could be Zara’s wedding that the lady in waiting woman could be planning which would actually make more sense.
    http://www.examiner.com/x-18853-Royal-News-Examiner~y2009m12d6-Kate-and-William-taking-small-steps-to-the-alter

it does also mention Kate & William but the Zara angle sounds more plausible.

  • Rman #58 - December 6, 2009 at 2:29 pm

    Good Afternoon,

Well I’m glad The Queen is taking a stand about this but I think this should have been done a longtime ago.

We all should know that Kate will not be at the church service with the royal family until it’s officially announced that she is engaged to William. She usually attend the pre-Christmas gathering for (shoot) at Sandringham but spends Christmas with her own family. That’s how it’s going to be until the announcement.

  • Rman #59 - December 6, 2009 at 2:59 pm

JJ I think because the lady can put together weddings the tabs is trying to raise the royal wedding issue. Mandrake knew his headline would grab peoples attention and it did.

  • jj #60 - December 6, 2009 at 3:01 pm

I agree Rman… Oh boy well 2010 please let something good happen it’s long over due…

  • sojourner #61 - December 6, 2009 at 4:55 pm

I second Rman about a KM visit to Sandringham. There will be no pictures if the RF gets their way.

I believe the RFs new hard line on privacy is at least in part an attempt to calm the waters of speculation around PW and KM — again, as a matter of privacy for those involved, not due to a change of status. It would make sense that every and all sources of plausible deniability would be marshalled to keep a KM visit to Sandringham out of the news.

  • jj #62 - December 6, 2009 at 5:04 pm

    Sojourner

I agree but some will argue it is an attempt to manipulate the media which in a sense it is and then the argument begins again how much longer is this whole dance going to go on. And one one side you have people like MapleLeaf and Hale who quite rightly say they are taking their time and they will announce in their own time if they want to and on the other side it’s her reputation is taking hits and continuing to take hits and no one is doing anything about it so…..

  • Phoebe #63 - December 6, 2009 at 5:13 pm

Personally, I think this has very little to do with KM. The timing of it is material. I think the impetus is the photos of the DofE taken at Wood Farm mentioned in the article; we haven’t seen them but it sounds like they were not flattering. And also the whole non-story of PE and the dog from last Christmas.

  • Rman #64 - December 6, 2009 at 5:29 pm

I think this privacy issue is being made because the royals have always wanted their privacy to be respected but they are only now doing something about it. It’s not just about the royal couple but the other family members too.

I really didn’t like KN’s DM article because she makes it seem like The Middleton family is dying for Kate to become a member os the royal family. Although yes I do think it’s time for Kate to be seen by William’s side more, I don’t think it’s the Middleton family doing but the team at SJP who would like to do some adjustments.

I can only hope by next year we will see some more evidence of this adjustment. I think it’s time for the members of the public to see the royal side of Kate Middleton now. The sooner the better.

  • jj #65 - December 6, 2009 at 5:59 pm
  • jj #66 - December 6, 2009 at 6:01 pm

I mean to be honest who knows if either will be there this year. I think if she was going to go it would be very stupid of them to let that out. It would make her a target and people would photograph regardless. It’s worth too much. However she may not be there who knows…

  • Rman #67 - December 6, 2009 at 6:12 pm

I think the telegraph is just pointing out that the royal Christmas gathering is only for family. The royal girlfriends are invited to a pre-Christmas gathering on the estate. Although this may not happen if the Princes are training throughout December.

I do hope we get a chance to see Peter & Autunm at the Christmas service this year.

I just don’t think anything is coming at Christmas time. Although Kate has been publicly playing around with that cocktail ring lately, is the girl sending us a signal? I really don’t know.

I just can’t wait until it gets here so we can move on from this discussion already.

well back to the our story i think will see a lot of things about will and kate engagements or announcements of later this year about their privacy i think the queen is working with it

  • Lisa #75 - December 7, 2009 at 7:33 am

Wow, the media is really going nuts on the speculation today! Somehow I don’t think this was the intended effect the family had in mind,LOL.

I personally think the members of the RF do deserve privacy when they are on their own private property, and the BS that went on during the Diana years cannot be repeated but even they have to understand that William’s engagement and his future bride are a HUGE media story.

I will tell you guys this…a week ago I thought we were probably two or more years away for a wedding. Today, I am less sure about that. I am starting to feel something may truly be coming.

  • Rman #76 - December 7, 2009 at 10:49 am

    Good Morning,

Well here is ABC News with their article and I think an old video:

    http://tinyurl.com/yc7ckth

Lisa I do think something is coming too but we probably won’t know anything until early next year. So I’m not expecting something to come this month. Ingrid Seward is right when she said, “They know there is going to be such a media frenzy because we have been waiting for this for so long.” So I too think William is behind this privacy issue.

  • Rman #77 - December 7, 2009 at 1:34 pm

    Good Evening,

I’m not all that surprised by the many heartless comments left on KN’s article about Kate. I think it was a major mistake for her to compare Kate to Diana. One of the reasons why people are so upset with The Middleton family is because of many articles like this.

  • Lisa #78 - December 7, 2009 at 2:41 pm

Rman,I have learned to ignore the comments in these online articles. They in no way represent the masses and many are penned by the members at the royal fiction site, obviously.

True the press should not compare Kate to Diana but they will. No changing that..

Lets see what the next few weeks bring. We just may be pleasantly surprised :)

  • Phoebe #79 - December 7, 2009 at 3:55 pm

I thought this was an informative take on the issue:

    http://tinyurl.com/ybakvoy

  • Clover #80 - December 7, 2009 at 4:02 pm

    Rman,
I agree with you. The comments do not help the Middltons in terms of winning public approval. It was a ridiculous article and was written to inspire resentment IMO.

    Lisa,
I think it is odd to think that there people from a single royal site would write over 100 comments and sign them as if they are from all over the world.

People resent the fact that a royal girlfriend is being compared to Lady Diana – let’s blame Katie Nichols for that!

I think that PW needs to make a decision about Kate.

  • meg #81 - December 7, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Twenty people from that site can write a 100 comments under different names. These people come from all over the world, very few are from Britian, oddly enough. Sometimes when they write comments other places than their own site, they use addresses in Britain, but they are obviously not British. Silly people, shouldn’t be taken seriously at all. BTW Who reads those comments except s few of us “royal watchers”. Not “the British people”, that’s for sure. So very little damage done really.

  • Lisa #82 - December 7, 2009 at 6:04 pm

Clover I am not going to debate all things royal fiction with you. Of course not every comment is them but plently of them are. All you have to do it compare the verbiage in the comments to the posts on the site. Very simple, really. I agree that the tabloids are responsible for much of the mudslinging and other crap that goes on in regards to the Middletons but I still do not see any evidence that the average person(non royal watcher) holds any animonisity toward Kate or her family.

As far as William’s decision goes…I think he made that decision long ago but has not shared it with the masses yet.

  • Rina #83 - December 7, 2009 at 6:24 pm

imo, the british monarchy definitely needs another Diana-like personality to keep it relevant in today’s world. if not for a Queen Rania-esque interest in the quality of life of their people, and people all over the world, the monarchy is really just the biggest welfare case in britain, that cuts ribbons, promotes blood sports and enjoys trips to mustique on the taxpayers’ dime.

  • Katharine #84 - December 7, 2009 at 7:10 pm

Rina, yes they could use another Diana-type. No doubt about it and I think Kate would make a great addition to the family.

  • Rman #85 - December 7, 2009 at 7:22 pm

Well whoever is writing those comments are pretty cold and have no problem in making that known. The reason why I say this is because it’s obvious the Middletons haven’t done anything to deserve such antagonistic attitudes. If this was a family that blabbed about everything and show major disrespect towards the monarchy then I would understand it a bit but they have remained silent, supportive of the couple and go about their own business. All I see is a close family that is trying to deal with William’s baggage the best way they know how and I think they have done a pretty good joj so far.

As for Kate, I think once people get a chance to hear from her and get to know her you will see some of those comments change a bit. All we get right now is pictures for Kate but once people start to see this girl get more involved with an official royal role instead of being just a longtime royal girlfriend, many views of Kate will change.

Right now it’s just all about judging a book by it’s cover.

Wow. The Queen looks fabulous. Her gown is very elegant.

Thanks for the link meg. If Richard Kay is correct about Wills passing his exams, then Wills must be one happy pilot trainee!:

“Prince William has moved closer to his dream of becoming an RAF search-and-rescue pilot. He has, I hear, passed all his exams so far and is set to be awarded his provisional wings in a matter of days…’He has passed all his continual assessment tests so far and is ahead of schedule, which means he will have plenty of spare time before Christmas,’ I am told. His girlfriend, Kate Middleton, is likely to be the main beneficiary.”

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1233954/Cameron-knocks-em-six.html#ixzz0Z3ZmRvLa

If Richard Kay is right, then :D Wills will be able to relax and enjoy his Christmas season now that his exams are out of the way.

Now he’ll be able to enjoy himself with friends and loved ones for the remainder of this year before he transfers to RAF Valley in Wales in January 2010.

    Rman,
HRM was beautiful. But the sad spectacle she had to watch!!!! Who chose these people? I could never imagine taking my grandmother to such a spectacle, yet there is HRM, smiling at one of the most ludicrous of people pop culture has recently served.
I just don’t get it, at all.

  • Lisa #91 - December 7, 2009 at 9:38 pm

Congrats to Wills! I hope he and Kate share a lovely holiday season, engagement or none!

  • Clover #92 - December 7, 2009 at 9:44 pm

    Lisa,
I don’t even know what sites you are talking, I can not read your mind. I really can not follow your argument at all!

All the comments are not negative. I see a fair share of positive comments. Where do they come from?

  • Clover #93 - December 7, 2009 at 9:45 pm

I should have written: I don’t know what royal sites you are talking about!

  • jj #94 - December 7, 2009 at 10:41 pm

    Clover

Lisa I am assuming (and correct me if I am wrong) is talking about we hate kate website (the royal truth)

They have previously in the past stated that they go on change their names and write negative comments. It’s what keeps them happy they enjoy making nasty comments about kate and her family.

  • Me #95 - December 7, 2009 at 10:41 pm

Sojo, Lady Gaga may be weird in appearance, but I do like her music; speechless was appropriate for the occasion, though I prefer Bad Romance. And I loved that photo with HM; she looks genuinely courteous when curtsying to Her Majesty who seems pleased. And all what Diversity does, love their creativity. Perhaps the other artists in tiny shorts where a no – no, but its good HM and Prince Philip see these shows – connection to reality, someway, somehow to their people.

PW is a Pilot Ace, looking forward for his Millie speech Dec. 15, 2009 and NZ/Aussie official tour Jan 17-19 2010. Have a Wing deserved Merry Christmas William!

  • Clover #96 - December 7, 2009 at 10:46 pm

    JJ,
Thanks for clearing that up. Sometimes I really don’t know what Lisa is talking about. I got to the Royal Internet Forum and a few others and the comments seem insightful, balanced, and backed up with a link to a published article or photograph to illustrate a point.

  • sojourner #97 - December 7, 2009 at 10:48 pm

    Me,
Do not like Gaga (maybe if it were a bit more Dada — sorry, inside art joke). But I was actually referring to that underage recidivist, Miley.
Maybe my mom has mastered the art of astral projection, and is controlling what I think and say, but, doesn’t one expect a notch above the rest in anything that bears the title “Royal”?

Actually, that wouldn’t be my Mom controlling, good republican that she is ;-) … so whomever is at it, stop it!

  • Me #98 - December 7, 2009 at 11:05 pm

    Agreed about Miley… ;)

    Remember this one:
The Queen is Keen to watch Bruno LOL

She’s competing with the Queen Mother, rest in peace, would watch Ali-G with great grandsons William and Harry, they in turn would teach her the moves…Respec, click your fingars. LMAO

  • Me #99 - December 7, 2009 at 11:08 pm

Besides, got to give credit to her to watch the 2 hour program?

I mean, she needs to know about the young generation. It is said William and Harry like to watch (do they miss) X-Factor.

Chelsy is a fan of Jedwards ROFL

  • Rman #100 - December 7, 2009 at 11:28 pm

Well it’s great that she got a chance to meet them and I hope she enjoyed the private performance.

Why do I get the feeling that if Kate had done this she would have been accused of using her royal connections to get backstage?

  • sojourner #101 - December 7, 2009 at 11:36 pm

    Rman,
lets not get carried away, dear. HRM met with these characters out of duty, not because of secret, burning fandom. And if KM had decided/wanted to do so, I might accuse her myself of misusing some connections (but of the neurological/brain kind) :S

  • jj #102 - December 7, 2009 at 11:37 pm

Oh you can bet your life on it Rman they would have gone to town on Kate. I must say I did doubt this story when it first came out but I guess the call really was made and Chelsy and friends went to meet these um interesting characters…..

  • jj #103 - December 7, 2009 at 11:37 pm

    Sojourner

Rman is talking about Chelsy Davy and Jeward not the Queen and the royal variety performance…

  • jj #104 - December 7, 2009 at 11:39 pm

Just to clarify it was reported that a call was made from St. James Palace I think requesting that Chelsy meet Jeward backstage.. I didn’t believe it at the time but apparently a video shows it happened.

  • Rman #105 - December 7, 2009 at 11:56 pm

LOL, sojourner I was talking about Chelsy not Her Majesty. I think it’s great that Chelsy got a chance to see the performers backstage but I’m just saying that if kate had done this it would have been hell to tell the captain. That’s all I’m saying.

  • jj #106 - December 8, 2009 at 1:00 am
  • bluefire #107 - December 8, 2009 at 8:00 am
  • Me #108 - December 8, 2009 at 8:25 am

I happen to agree with Sojo, I’d use the connections for something more brain productive. JJ, I thought so to, but when the NOTW video appeared, I said that’s it.

Chelsy be wiser, apparently you are an easy target; talking to the press at Bungalow 8 and in some small room with hand counted people.

Kate has been mudslinged in the past for the supposed freebees and connections: audi, issa clothing, and ridiculously the princess paraphernalia displayed in the family business Party Pieces.
