Prince William & Kate Middleton at Sherlock Holmes Premiere
Prince William, his girlfriend Kate Middleton and Prince Harry were among the celebrity-packed audience in Leicester Square last night for the world premiere of Guy Ritchie’s new film Sherlock Holmes, which stars Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law.
But the Royal party shunned the red carpet and attempted to avoid the cameras by arriving five minutes after the film started and being taken into the venue by a back door. They left as soon as the credits began to role. (via thisislondon.co.uk)

William & Kate have this way of letting us know that they are doing just fine and still enjoying their relationship. I notice that everytime they are out seen out without each other, people get scared or start coming up with rumors of relationship problems. I think we have to understand that if they are not seen together in a while does not mean there are some kind of relationship problem. I notice on the royal forums some posters have a hard time understanding that.
I really like that the royal couple are making lots of appearences and seem to be making up for lack of appearences during William’s training. I would like to see both couples out together. I think all of them will make a great team in the future.

Their pattern is more or less the same year after year. Once polo season/social season is over,we have a drought that is usually together with rumors started by haters of a split. Then the holiday season arrives and we get nights out,parties and shooting on the royal estate. This year is no different so far and quite predictable by anyone paying close enough attention. Myabe no hunting shots this year due to the press ban at the estate order by HM.

I’m open to correction, but I think this is the first time in a while where they have been seen out together as a couple, on a date so to speak, where they haven’t been camera shy. The last time they were seen out in these circumstances, they were hurrying along the street, PW yelling back at KM behind him, neither looking happy.

I have to admit that I’m surprised that Harry & Chelsy went to the X Factor show though but it was nice that they went.
I agree with you Lisa, there’s usually a big drought once the polo season is over and the wintery months arrive. I think this years drought was due to his training.
Maybe Kate is happy William has a break from the training and maybe she is happy that they will take things to new heights next year, at least I hope. She’s happy about something.

Phoebe I think you’re right. The last time Wills and Kate were photographed out together was in October, and as you said they looked like they were hurrying along the street to get away from the paps.
There have been a couple of mentions of them being at the cinema at different times to see movies, and mentions of them going out to eat and articles about them being seen at a newsagents shop in Norfolk when they were at Sandringham in September, but none of those sightings included photos.
I also agree with you Lisa, this IS the regular behaviour pattern for Wills and Kate, and
the truth is we could almost use their habits as a yearly calendar:
We get articles about them doing something together to celebrate New Year’s, but we normally don’t get pics of them together during January and February.
We do get pics in March/April when they go on their annual ski trip. They always do something to celebrate Wills’ birthday in June and we might get pics then if we’re lucky, but if not we always get articles about it.
In August they take a holiday to a tropical island somewhere, in 2006 it was Ibiza. In 2007 it was the Seychelles, in 2008 and this year it was Mustique. If we’re lucky we get pics, but this year they managed to keep the paps from snapping them.
This year we didn’t get any pics of them in Mustique but they attended a big party on the island and some articles were written about it that stated celebrities such as Mick Jagger were present at the same party Wills and Kate attended.
September through November we usually don’t get pics unless the paps manage to snap them at a shooting party or something unusual happens like the exhibit Kate hosted for charity in November 2007.
In December we usually get a few pics of them out and about enjoying their holiday season activities, and we usually get pics of them hunting pheasants/grouse the week before Christmas.
And in between those times, if we’re lucky we get pics snapped of them going out to eat or attending friends’ weddings like we did when Wills and Kate attended Wills’ cousin’s wedding in Norfolk this year, or the photos taken of Wills and Kate at their friend’s wedding in Austria in 2008.
And every single year during the time period between the end of October until Wills and Kate are seen out during the Christmas holiday season in December, rumours start to fly that ’something is wrong between Wills and Kate because they haven’t been seen out together lately’. Those rumours usually stop for a little while in December, then they start up again in January, and they don’t end until Wills and Kate are seen skiing in March/April.

I think I know what you are talking about Phoebe. You are talking about their lunch date. Most likely they was a bit annoyed at the paps. Also people don’t talk about it much but the paps do ask the young royals questions to get a picture of their expressions and to liven up the pictures. Some of those questions probably very often turn them off because it can get very personal. Some of the paps can be smart alec’s.

I’m not intimating anything negative. I think there has been a subtle change in their behavior vis-a-vis the public. Considering that I think one of the biggest stumbling blocks to them getting married is their unwillingness to accept press intrusion into their lives, how could this change in attitude not be a good thing? No Phoebe I understand what you mean. I see a change in their behavior too. Like Kate smiling at the recent charity event, clearly she was happy about something and even the Express took notice. Of course I’m not saying that they haven’t been smiling before because they have but I really did pay attention to Kate playing with her rings recently. I notice on the other forums people thought William was hiding from the paps when they got in the colorful cab but if you really look at the pictures, you can clearly see William smiling at the paps behind the cab and not trying to hide. They just have been showing all their teeth lately.

Oh they knew the paps was all over the place because it was a premiere with big names attending so they knew they would get caught and I don’t think it bothered them at all. If they would have walked the red carpet, they would have turned the relaxed premiere into a formal royal premiere so they entered through the back entrance.
Everyone looked great and most likely enjoyed the movie. Harry did look down a bit but he was getting ready to get in the car so…..

There is difference between the Queen and her husband and KM and PW. The main difference is that the Queen has been married to Prince Philips since 1947. Prince Philip has been her devoted Consort ever since. This is why I did not get the joke.
Also, Zara and Mike have publically discussed buying a home together and living together.
PW and KM are dating, not married and have not publically acknowledged living together. Nor have they announced an official engagement SO this leaves people guessing about their realtionship status – for such a high profile couple this seems reasonable.
So when people do not see them photographed together for long periods of time they wonder about the status of this relationship.
No one wonders about the status of the Queen’s marriage of more than 50 years.
It is very possible that Zara and Mike could breakup, they are only dating. PW and Kate are also only dating. People who date do not always stay together or dating does not always end in marriage.

Hello,
Seems like PW will be kept busy during his downunder tour but I’m sure he’ll have time to meet up with old friends on his two evenings off.
We returned from a visit to the Christmas markets around Cologne last weekend and thankfully got home before the Eurotrain delays. Tonight were at the’ S C Dancing ‘ final and are leaving shortly for lunch before hand.
It was interesting to see some of the photographic comparisons between PW and his uncle with similar features and hair loss and it’s amazing the differences between PW and PH with his ruddy complexion and red hair.
If as announced PW is continuing in the SAR at Valley on his return I am more and more sure that any engagement and follow up will be a few years off in about 2014. As well as KM’s reservations there is comment that HM was not pleased at PW’s unilateral decision in 2008 to ‘join up and she will be wary of a services marriage after PA and SF experience.
I think the recent press reports especially the old news of PW taking on more royal duties is interesting as that originally came out before his SAR decision.
I also heard that the small ‘disagreements’ between PW and KM over the past 6 months has been his (or his advisors) reluctance to include KM in at least some of his charitable and royal events. I understand this has been an issue for the last year or so together obviously with his rather cavalier attitude during his RAF service which by the way is promoting some disquiet in the service. Training is training is training and short cuts are frowned upon when lives are at stake.
Obviously PW’s training has shown that the expensive and lengthy pilot training for others is not required and the RAF has discovered a cheaper alternative.
Did someone mention dedication and time consuming?

One of the letters in the DM Chelsy/Harry article pointed out that Zara and Peter don’t have to live like royals – they don’t even have titles. So, how feasible would it be for Harry to remain a royal but not have to do royal engagements? Could he live in Africa? After all, when/if William and Kate marry and have children, he will be much further down in line for the throne. Is there a possibility he can do that?
And even if he’s not a royal, she’ll still be a military wife – the article doesn’t mention how she supposedly feels about that.
Whatever they do, I just hope it doesn’t turn into a Charles/Camilla situation with some poor “appropriate” girl in the middle.

Ked you know you can shake things up a bit. Most likely William & Kate will become a military family and they will make it work for them. I do believe next year we will see the couple doing more charity events together and we may get that engagement early next year. I do not believe William is shuting Kate down and putting her back into the background. If he would do that, their relationship would suffer greatly because it wouldn’t be allowed to grow. I’m hoping next year things will move forward and this girl will be brought out of the shadows a bit because I think she has suffered enough.

I’m glad to see that people are starting to read critically.
As far as “resigned”: he’s not really smiling, his jaw is set in a particular way, looks like he’s swallowing things he wants to say. I only meant to convey that he doesn’t look happy. I don’t have any insight into what he is really thinking.
I also don’t agree that PW is getting a bye in his training. I think he is between a rock and a hard place trying to carve out his own niche and please others by ramping up his royal duties. Whether anyone else in his situation could take as many overseas vacations as he has, that’s another story.

Indeed Rman although it’s pretty obvious to anyone who follows the British Royals that she couldn’t go on this trip.
As for the Daily Mail article I assume that it can’t be true. It makes absolutely no sense to get back into a relationship which would be going nowhere if you can’t accept the other person for who they are which would be the case if Chelsy can’t see a future with Harry because he is Royal.
We will see. I’m still not convinced that these two will make it. I have no doubt that they love each other I am just not sure that it’s going to work out…

jj, some couples can really love each other very much, but maybe the love they have for themselves and their own things comes above all. Just love can be not enough to have a marriage that works.

P I agree and that is what worries me with Chelsy and Harry. Love may not just not be enough.. Harry being a royal is not going to change.. We will see I guess.
