Well now this is interesting. I am currently using this free internet service from my hospital bed. For some reason this service does not allow me to log onto RIF.

However, I should like to take this opportunity in wishing everybody a Very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. Also many thanks to Steve for running a great forum.

By the way, I’m in hospital because I slipped on the ice & broke my fibula & dislocated my tibulas from my ankle. The OP will consist of screws & plate.

Many thanks to all members for making this such a great site.

Best Wishes to all. xxx

I’m not quite sure what to make of all these articles.

According to the press they were not allowed to photograph the local footie match with PH & PW because it was deemed private.

Also the press are saying that PW has sold the pics from the Centerpoint event. I dont care how good the cause is I don’t like the idea of our royals dealing with the meddia in that way.

For sometime, I have felt that the DM, R Kay & Clarence Hse have been locked in a war ever since Burrell used Kay as his intermediary. When Burrell was on trial it was Kay who delivered a letter on behalf of Burrell to PC.

Who knows what was in that letter, but the Queen shortly intervened on behalf of Burrell shortly after.

Since then I do believe Kay has tried to broker peace. However, instead both CHse & St.J’s have maintained a “do everything to undermine them” attitude.

The result of all this is the tab which is most pro royal & establishment has locked horns with the very offices it purports to represent.

I can’t recall the last time the DM published a positive article about PC. Sometimes this negativity manifests itself with articles about Camilla. Yet it was the DM who helped sell Camilla to the British public.

The second-in-line to the throne has revealed that he leaves his gift buying until the last minute, telling guests at the 40th birthday celebration of homeless charity Centrepoint that he had yet to pick up any gifts.
In this week’s HELLO!, issue 1104, there’s a world exclusive behind the scenes look at William’s day devoted to the cause that his mother Diana loved so much.

Now both the young princes are involved in these silly games with the press.

Before, I stupidly made excuses for them. I blamed their father and thought them innocent pawn’s. I don’t think that anymore. They are both willing participants.

The prince’s games (especially those of William)also manifest itself in negative way’s. Ever wondered why the press & the DM attack Kate?

    Kate has become W’s scapegoat.

In the last episode of The Queen, Sir Robin Janvrinis reported to have said about the Q, “She acts as if she were the last remaining monarch”.

I for one am beginning to believe it.

  • Rman

    55

Well Hale, I do think that is just one of the reasons why the tabs an DM often attack Kate.

I know things don’t look all that bright right now but once William marries Kate and they both gradually start flying the flag for Britian, the future of the monarchy will get brighter. I’m hoping 2010 will bring us great joy and hope for the monarchy.

I agree Rman, I am pretty sure that the more than a billion strong under 25 will identify with him and his spouse, may it be Kate.

“We may ourselves be confronted by a bewildering array of difficulties and challenges, but we must never cease to work for a better future for ourselves and for others.”

And she hailed the Commonwealth as “the face of the future” and a “strong and practical force for good” as the family of nations celebrated passing its 60th year.

She said it had more than a billion members under the age of 25 who had embraced communication technologies that enabled them to share life experiences.

I don’t have a problem if Kate chose to giveexclusives because as yet Kate is not a royal. Kate is her own person. However, I do not believe K has been involved in exclusive because this could be the excuse the press are desperately seeking to render her press agreement null & void.

In other words what right would K have to claim she is a private person if she is actively engaging with the media negotiating exclusives.

That is why I do not believe that. I also pray CHouse do not wrongly advise her that way.

Frankly I am not impressed with how they have advised her so far. I happen to think they could do a lot moreto protect K.

However to date William hasn’t and it would be viewed as disgraceful if he has.

Fergie & Andrew once did and the press massacred them. It was viewed as cheapening theimage of royalty, which was true. Despite all the money going to charity

Hale, I was sorry to hear that you are in the hospital especially this time of year. Hears hoping for a speedy recovery. I do believe that STJP and CH’s first priority is to William. I also believe that until William acknowledges Kate things will remain status quo. I was struck with how adamant the Queen was about no non family members being with the family over Christmas. In one article the Queen said something to the effect that Kate could not come until the 7th of june. I don’t know if that is true. Hopefully if she can’t go to see him he will go to see her. It will be good for them to spend quality time together.

Kat that’s just royal protocol. You have to be married into the royal family in order to spend Christmas with the royals. It was mentioned that even though Princess Victoria & Daniel Westling are engaged, he and Jonas did not spend Christmas with their fiancee’s but with their own families this year. So Kate, Chelsy, or Mike was never going to spend Christmas with the royals and I really don’t know why the tabs made such a big deal about it because they know the protocol very well.

Kat I’m hoping that next year we will see Kate doing more charity work and at least see both William & kate doing something together. That’s what I mean by her having some more royal backing. I believe due to the lack of this, Kate has suffered badly in the media. The media (thanks to KN) have dubbed her ‘Waity Katey’ and the internet forums have danced on her tonsils one too many times. I just hope what the press said is true that Kate will step up her charity work and be seen by William a bit more. That would drown out the ‘Waity Katey” nonsense and let the British people get to know her. That just needs to happen now.

    Rman

I agree the people behind PW definitely need to step up their game with regards to Kate’s image if 2011 is going to be the year. I think the only reason why the press are making a big deal of not being invited to christmas is because they have nothing else to write about. They have been severely restricted by the Royal family about what they can photograph and attend and with royal news already being thin on the ground the alternative is to once again make something up.

I don’t however think that Kate was at Sandringham.

I wonder if SJP and CH will ever learn because they never seem to. They just seem to keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again with the cloak and dagger. Some of the blame can also be laid at the royal families feet with being very up tight and entrenched in outdated traditions. Maybe after the Queen they won’t survive. They are going down the right road for that to happen at the moment…

it has been alluded to before that there was a program underway to promote will and push kate to the background …

I just think with so many unknowns that William has to be protecting Kate and defining things so that SJP and others CAN help protect her …

most reports I read on the subject tend to show that because of William’s unwillingness to come forth with Kate as his chosen girl for now it is impossible for them to come up with a game plan …

I a gree with the comments about the ridiculousness of the next generation after the Queen and hwo they are essentially throwing everything out there but they have not lived in a time when the monarchy was almost sunk by her uncle so they dont’ understand that this not about THEM this is about the MONARCHY

What they fail to realize is that in life we are all limited by our gifts – our circumstances – it is what WE DO with those circumstances and how we react to them that make them bearable … they need to grow up ALL THREE OF THEM!!! : )
“\In the last episode of The Queen, Sir Robin Janvrinis reported to have said about the Q, “She acts as if she were the last remaining monarch”.

The line itself referred to; the Q’s reluctance to change, her refusal to allow Charles to marry Camilla and the Q’s preference not to rock the boat, but go with the flow.

PC was heavily engaged with Operation Camilla, but the Q herself has never engaged in courting the press, but rather engaged in educating the public at large. The Q has never attempted to manipulate the press, but instead relies on duties and good works to do the talking for her.

I wonder if the Q senses troubles after she passes on?

regarding the sell of the photos… I’m pretty sure it’s not true. The express is the only newspaper to gave this information. If the sell was true, no doubt the daily mail would do columns of articles to generate bad comments about the royal family and william in particular. The telegraph, the times, the guardian and the independant (both anti-monarchist) would without doubt reveals the sell in their columns. But this information was only to real in the … Express. I dont understand why on this site in particular (which is far beyond the most reasonable and has the most deep thinker and not a bunch of teenagers) this information was taken seriously and analysed without any good reason? Hello probably asked – and obtain – permission to take photos and do a report (it’s a magazine and not a newspaper, so a report is their business not the daily’s mail one) in centrepoint. If the sun or the daily mail did ask, they probably got the same permission, but both are more interested to build fake stories illustrated for the main part by paparazzi photos which generated many bad comments.
William didnt sell anything, it’s the same as princess mary of denmark authorized Billed-Bladet (the same as hello in denmark) to do a report on several occasions to put in light something which is close to her heart (as william with the homeless). I really dont understand the way you interpret the article in the express and I am deceived … why dont ask why this information was not in others papers?

sorry Hale, but the GG article was an exclusive report from NOTW. The information and contained in the article was all over the others newspaper (in extracts and with comments) the day following the parution in the NOTW.

Contrary of GG article, there is NO INFORMATION related to this in none of the others newspapers in england.

  • Hale

Yes, the GG story was an NOTW exclusive, but that is irrelevant. Press & blogs will rehash others exclusives. The DM ran with the GG story, others wrote rubbish articles about skeletons & relatives.

The royals are not as popular as they used to be. Not all newspapers, actually NO newspaper gives our royals the kind of coverage they used to get and I’m going back to pre Diana.

How many newspapers picked up on the staged car park kiss? Not one.

The point here is if this story is true and I am hoping it is not,but if it is then William is not only playing game which no royal can win, but he is reducing the mystique of monarchy to that of cheap celebritism.

  • NYme

The car park kiss was an exclusive by a photograph of the sun. Exclusive photos cant be used by other photographs because of the copyright and to comment this exclusivity without photos would be a nonsense.

For the rest, that’s exactly my point :
“Yes, the GG story was an NOTW exclusive, but that is irrelevant. Press & blogs will rehash others exclusives. The DM ran with the GG story, others wrote rubbish articles about skeletons & relatives.” SO why not to relate the story of the sale of photos by william if true? The daily mail wont miss an opportunity to write bad things about the royals and william and call them hypocrites!!!

Princess Anne gave an interview and an inside to hello magazine. In the same way, william did about centrepoint and I think the homeless people dare to be highlight to reduce their problem, every way to do it is a good way and I’m sorry the daily mail and others dont take time to do the same and propose to william to make a report at centre point with him and the homeless.

Merry Christmas to my BRW friends.

Hale – just want to make sure while in the hospital they have you on something that will prevent DVTs. (deep vein thrombsis) Lovenox, Coumadin or hose. When you go home if you are nonweight bearing you should be placed on one of the three.

**i realize this is not the appropriate site but just wanted to make sure Hale did not get into trouble post surgery.

    Stay Safe!

Bluefire….thanks for the update. I liked Zara’s & Autumns outfits. I especially liked Autumns trilby.

ginger…on my good leg I am wearing a firm white hose. They keep delaying my OP because my bad leg is swollen. So they have put a cold pack on it.

NYme. it’s good to disagree, in this way learn different schools of thought.

The Sun is owned by Murdoch who also owns the NOTW, The Times & SkyTV. They all could of used the pics if they had wanted. Other media outlets could have rehashed the story perhaps everyone is getting ticked off because Murdoch is getting all the exclusives.

Have you all forgotten January? Larcombe of the Sun broke the story of the candlelit dinner within the grounds of Birkhall, in the cabin by the river. All the other papers re hashed that story. That was a positive story. The Express story is a negative one and only the second negative story of William since that documentary called him ‘His Laziness’.

The P*** video of PH & uncle GG were NOTW exclusives. All the papers rehashed the P*** video.

Perhaps the press are getting ticked off with the games PW is playing. Sometime ago PW went to see Wales play rugby. It was an official event. The press however chose to cover H & C’s appearance at the England match.

As I said before, I hope it is not true. Nothing wrong with giving exclusive pics & interviews, the problem comes when money rears its ugly head. Despite the fact the money has gone to charity this action devalues the aura of monarchy.

I’m not so sure the major problem of the royal family is any devaluation of the “aura”. I think their problem is more that people today find them boring, stiff and stuffy and generally not in touch with real life. So if members of the family could do more things to show they understand and are interested in our lives, it can only be good for them in the long run. Diana was the “people’s princess” , the late Norwegian King Olav was the “peole’s King. There haven’t been many royals who have made monarchy more poular than those two (diifferent persons, different countries, different lives, but both understanding normal people’s lives).

Hey Lisa hope your having a great Christmas.

Just to let you know, my hubby bought me Hello mag. There is a recap of royal sightings. PW, PH & Kate at the premier, the princes at the Millie awards, PH’s elf card and of course the EXCLUSIVE Centerpoint story.

In the CPoint story PW reveals that he & PH compete to see who can fry an egg the quickest.

Also in the top ten of elegant man, PW came 7 & PH came 10. George Clooney came first.

Q Rania is first most elegant woman.

Well, I’m not usually one to criticize the royal family or anyone’s protection police – it’s not an easy job guarding someone famous …

… = ( but, they should have let crying three-year-old Sophie Manton and her little bunch of tulips through security. Did anyone else catch that? She wanted to see if the queen was wearing her crown and to give her flowers and was turned away because they were too late. To which I say “awww” – seeing as her mother has now been interviewed by, well, everyone, maybe the queen will make some special effort to see her. Or better yet, William and Harry – = ) that seems like the sort of thing one of them would do.

= ( No announcements of an engagement type, huh? Well, = ) I was hoping for one – = ( but not expecting. Oh, well.

I just bought the digital edition of Hello.

I want to share but dont know how.
    Extract :
“Centre point and Prince william permitted rare access to the event because they wished to use the charity’s birthday to throw a spotlight on the very real issue of homeless for thousands of young people this christmas”.

It has not be long for a columnist of the Express to deduce what he wanted just to make waves but unfortunately for him, no others newspapers take his story seriously. I suppose this columnist just wanted to be famous and be remarked by a most famous newspapers to make his name (very bad english tonight I’m a little tired).

NYme….the Express article is a blatant accusation. They could be made to withdraw the article and forced to apologise in the same way the Evening Standard had to do when it accused Harry of taking advantage of the armed forces when they went to Sentebale that time.

Richard Palmer in the Express writes:

“What they mean when they talk about protecting their privacy is that they want absolute control over what appears in the media.”

I for one believe everybody is entitled to a private life, but that doesn’t mean I agree with their attempts to control the media which I agree with Palmer is exactly what they have been attempting to do for sometime.

Lisa I too enjoyed the article. I’m no stranger to the caribbean and life is beautiful down there. It’s very nice to hear how William & Kate always have such a good time when in Mustique. We hear very little of their fun loving moments and I that’s one of the reasons why people on the forums give them such a hard time. The love behind their pictures are never explored.

There was a documentary on Princess Margaret on YouTube and Lord Glenconner spoke about her too. She really lived a very full and adventurous life.

I really don’t know why they even bother to write such things. This is one of the reasons why people come down on Kate so hard. Some people will actually believe that Kate would turn down an invite from the Queen. The Dinner at Buckingham Palace was only for extended family. But I guess that’s how it is, the tabs have to write something.

I just think it is so silly, I guess if they can’t say she turned down an invitation to Sandringham then lunch is next. Personally it would be highly insulting to turn down an invitation from the queen so I very much doubt that this happened… Good night….

JJ that’s what people don’t get, it would be bad form on Kate’s part to turn down an invite from The Queen so she most likely wouldn’t do something like that.

About exclusives to Hello! and others,

PW might have tried to get other media interested, but the utterly positive (otherwise known as fluff piece  ) angle might not have been what they were looking for. Hello! is all about “positive,” so they ran with it. I personally do not see the big deal of doing this, given that it is for charity. His cousin Peter’s deal was another matter altogether, and may have muddied the waters, but I say the more money PW raises the better.

Given the number of times that, according to the tabloids, KM has turned down the Queen, I fear that the rumors about horse allergies are the least of her problems. I fully expect to be hearing about KMs need to inoculate herself against “sovereign sensitivity.”
