“Each year that passes seems to have its own character. Some leave us with a feeling of satisfaction, others are best forgotten. 2009 was a difficult year for many, in particular those facing the continuing effects of the economic downturn.” read more

I think this is a good idea – and I noticed The Guardian ( who, let’s face it, doesn’t exactly love the royal family ) managed to say something nice about William.

Princes William and Harry could broadcast their own Christmas message next year.

The brothers want to send their support to British troops overseas and have asked their grandmother if they can record their own message this time next year.

‘The boys are passionate about their Army commitments and want to take a more active role,’ says a source.

‘They would like to broadcast a speech of thanks to all servicemen next Christmas.’

Prince William has inherited the people’s crown from Diana:

Poor Charles, sandwiched between the popularity of his mother and the glamour of his son, particularly if William were married, might well disappear off the radar. —

that comment will guarantee charles wont want w to marry someone who takes attention from him

    karma is a b&tch charles !!!!!

Thanks for the link Me. WOW I’m so happy for them. Isn’t it exciting.

I enjoyed the Times article. I think the writer spoke alot of truth even if it was difficult truth to speak. And for the record,I do like Charles and think he will be a good king but I think his possible lack of nurturing from a busy mother is the difference we see in him vs William. I think the writer also touches on the Camilla factor properly as well. The taste of the adultery is still in the mouths of people who followed Charles and Diana’s marriage,it’s breakup and Diana’s death. Charles is between a rock and a hard place. His mother and his son. Good luck there.

    Good Evening,

Lisa I too enjoyed both articles and I’m excited to see what’s being planned for this upcoming year.

  • Lisa #9 - December 27, 2009 at 2:45 pm

I enjoyed both article and I am actually beginning to be optimistic regarding this coming year. My fingers are cautiously crossed. But both articles in non tabloid papers, suggest William is ready to marry so maybe there is a chance we may be popping that bottle of bubbly in the next few weeks!

i beleive there was the run up to christmas for diana and nothing and then an engagement in February!

So here’s to February re run!

  • Hale #11 - December 27, 2009 at 3:53 pm

I too enjoyed the Times article, but I cant help think that the journalist has been surfin the forums for a space filler.

Seriously, what was in the article we ourselves havn’t voiced already.

  • Lisa #12 - December 27, 2009 at 4:37 pm

Hale! I hope you are recovering well. :)

As for the articles, your right. Maybe great minds think alike! :)

  • Hale #13 - December 27, 2009 at 6:56 pm

Lisa thanks for the concern. Unfortunately, I have yet to have my OP which will either be tomorrow or Tues.

As for the speight of articles which have appeared recently, as you all know I have been extremely critical of PW because it seemed he was reluctant to accept his destiny.

However, am I the only one which detects a change here?

I for one am looking forward to 2010 being the year PW finally commences coming into his own.

When you see that, then an engagement will follow. Also, and I know this has never been done before, but it would be nice to see St.J’s quietly supporting & advising Kate.

Sometime ago KN of the DM suggested Kate would be doing more charity work. Well I’ve always been skeptical of articles by K Nicoll, but I hope this one turns out to be true.

    Goodnight.

Hale I hope everything go well and you get better.

I’m too hoping that next year be a good royal year for the couple.

Here’s an article from the DM- Royal watchers stunned as Sandringham officers swoop in and seize their cameras.

Hale good luck whenever you have your operation. There has been a shift lately n regards to the BRF. First, we don’t see Kate for months. Then all olf a sudden, there she is again. Wiklliam had done few events. Now, tere have been several in a rolw plus his SAR committment. Then there isthe Queen. She is so adamant about not a single picture taken. I guess what I am seeing are increases in behaviors that are pointing to positive action by the prince and kate while fierccly preotecting their privavy.

Just a few new pics of the royals today:

  • Rman #18 - December 27, 2009 at 10:57 pm

I understand the privacy issue but the people who line up to see the royals go to church very often enjoy taking pictures of the royals. I think taking their cameras away was going a bit too far.

  • Katharine #19 - December 27, 2009 at 10:57 pm

Very interesting article, AJ. Thanks! I don’t think that was the best PR move if it really happened like that.

  • Wm4King. #20 - December 27, 2009 at 11:31 pm

All along William has been a brick for the Windsors. From university to the services to all his charities he has been exemplary. They are very lucky to have him and I think they know it.
What pictures they got were better than the run of the mill ones often published. The public has every right to photograph the people they support financially and otherwise.

A little article on the royal family’s Christmas gifts:

    http://tinyurl.com/yzvqlpg

Don’t know how true it is.

  • bluefire #22 - December 28, 2009 at 6:31 am

i do understand them im with them but the public want the glimpse how they start their day

  • AJ #23 - December 28, 2009 at 7:00 am

As to the police taking all the cameras, I thought the cutest pic of all of them was the one they used in the story where William bent down to talk to the baby. If I were the mother, I would have taken a picture, too.

But it kind of sounds to me like it was an overeager police officer that did that, not the Royal family. Otherwise, it makes no sense – they’re there to be photographed – kind of like a celebrity on a red carpet. But they said that security was tighter than usual this year – maybe this was part of that.

Liked the article about the X-mas presents.

  • Katharine #24 - December 28, 2009 at 1:17 pm

It looked like an organized effort though, AJ. Did you see the tables they set up?

And I LOVED that photo of William bending over to talk to the baby. Very sweet!
