Prince William spoke as he began a five-day tour of New Zealand and Australia. “It’s fantastic. I love it. I did come about four and a half years ago. I had a great time here. This is obviously a bit more official. I am still enjoying the fact that it reasonably relaxed. I just love seeing everyone and all of New Zealand.” (via Telegraph)

= ) I thought there’d be pics this morning – there was also a brief mention on Fox and Friends and these two ( the first one’s a tweet from an hour or so ago ). Have a good morning, everyone!

If anything,I think Will and Kate will tour Australia together. NZ is an official visit for him. It won’t surprise me one bit if she shows up in AU after he is done with his visit. here’s a clue to watch for..if Kate is in the UK,they will want it known,IMO. Look for her to make some type of public appearance where she will be seen and at the very least, tweeted about.

  • curious #5 - January 17, 2010 at 10:30 am

Lisa, I have a same kind of feeling about Kate’s presence:

    a quote from the Telegraph:

“A wise man”, former diplomat Sir David Manning will be one of just four people accompanying Prince William on the visit, other than his personal protection officers. The others members of the Royal household are Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, his private secretary, and Miguel Head, his press secretary. A female member of Prince William’s support staff will also be on the visit

    a female member of William’s support staff…???who knows…???

  • NYme #6 - January 17, 2010 at 10:30 am
  • Me #7 - January 17, 2010 at 10:33 am

I wouldn’t go that far in suppositions, but I do know that Kate has long not seen family in Australia :)

I would believe that she may have received a ride to NY (I we are able to believe that one day she will really really go for a photography crash course), there are no direct flights from London to Auckland.

  • Katharine #8 - January 17, 2010 at 10:38 am

I don’t think Kate will show up on THIS visit. In the future…….YES! ;)

  • Lisa #9 - January 17, 2010 at 10:39 am

The female member of William’s staff is likely Helen Asprey. No way Kate got off that plane in NZ. I also think the NY story is not true. She would be in a foreign country with no security. No way.

  • Phoebe #10 - January 17, 2010 at 12:17 pm

I thought Miguel Head worked for Clarence House.

  • Phoebe #11 - January 17, 2010 at 12:19 pm

    What is this NY story?

  • Lisa #12 - January 17, 2010 at 12:33 pm

Miguel Head is William (and Harry’s?) press spokesperson.

  • Me #13 - January 17, 2010 at 12:37 pm

 Phoebe I threw NY in since the press has been insistent about KM going to NY for a few years now.

  • jj #16 - January 17, 2010 at 2:25 pm

    Well Lisa

I’m not sure I’m on board with the idea that Kate will go to Australia. It was weird that they made a big deal of the Australia part of the trip being private? No idea why, however if she does show up in Australia they better be ready to make an announcement afterwards because the press will go into over drive. My money is still on 2011..

  • Rman #17 - January 17, 2010 at 2:40 pm

Yeah, by next year JJ we will be celebrating their wedding. 8 more months of training to go and next year hopefully the celebrations will kick off. The news can still come this year, remember 2010 is still young, full of promise and clearly love in in the air more than ever.

If you look on the other site, they are tring their best to deny the evidence of the love between William & Kate in those pictures. They very often complain of lack of affection by William & Kate but when they are presented with the evidence of their love, they are quick to dismiss it. We must keep strong because we still have months to go until next year and the doubts will keep coming.

  • Lisa #18 - January 17, 2010 at 3:21 pm

When William’s tour of Australia is over, there is not reason why he and Kate could not holiday there privately. The press turns everything into engagement talk. I don’t think Will and Kate pay much attention to all that. They seem to be on their own agenda,on their own timeframe.

Rman,I still have a bit of hope for this summer being the date. lets see what happens when he returns from down under. If we don’t hear anything by say mid march,I think another year has come and gone without an announcement. I still think there are some signs that point to this summer. :)

  • AJ #19 - January 17, 2010 at 3:51 pm

=) I don’t want to swamp the board with “Royal Reporter” tweets – just thought people’d like to know he’s there and tweeting about William’s visit – I’ll put up the link again, in case anyone’s interested so they don’t have to go through the posts to find it. http://twitter.com/RoyalReporter

  • kat #20 - January 17, 2010 at 5:06 pm

Iam not sure about the reason wh no pics at the airport. It was reported somewhere that prince willam was accompanied by 35 news reporters. I would assume if Kate were going to show up in Austraia that there would be press coverage about the event. I think that either William had Kate to see him off which I doubt. Somewhere in print somebody would have mentioned it that she was there. It could have been that Willikam wanted to stick to the strict guidellines of no pics when in private. Since he was not private at the moment, it should not have mattered. I am so confused. Finally about Kate not being on the guest list. if that is true it makes sense. If the matter had been confirmed the cereomony would have been turned into a three ringed circus. If she were not wanted, then she would have not been there. I doubt that Kate will be seen or heard from this week It is William’s week and Kate knows it. I could be wrong about all the above.

  • Rman #21 - January 17, 2010 at 5:07 pm

That’s the spirit Lisa, lets keeping for some news soon.

Okay, the trusted royal photographer Arthur Edwards talks about his professional/friendly relationship with William, Charles and Diana. He also talks about Kate, her future and privacy.

I think everyone should take some time and listen to what he’s saying.

  • Katharine #24 - January 17, 2010 at 6:36 pm

Lisa, i sure hope you’re correct about a wedding happening this year! I don’t know, but I do believe it will happen between the election and the jubilee.

  • Lisa #25 - January 17, 2010 at 6:37 pm

Thanks for that video,Rman. What a nice gentleman he is. I agree 100% on what he said about Kate and her privacy.

  • Rman #26 - January 17, 2010 at 6:44 pm

Yeah Lisa & Katharine, it’s coming we just have to sit tight for it. As Arthur was saying, it’s very possible for the news to come over the summer but a wedding will most likely take place next year.

  • Rman #27 - January 17, 2010 at 6:47 pm

That’s why I posted this interview, people need to gain some understanding on Kate’s privacy issue. I was surprised to learn that even Jack Straw stood up for Kate.

  • Katharine #28 - January 17, 2010 at 6:48 pm

Prince William thanked Elliotte for the gift and said he would pass it on.

Security guards inspected the envelope holding the picture before passing it to him. “

Rman, Lisa thankks for all the pictures and commentary. I have been following it througholut the evening as I take breaks while working on different things at home. Couldnt the blonde be a protection officier? I think that I remember them adding a couple of women to his detail. I agree with you Rman Lisa the next time that he is there kate will be with him. There will be much celebrating when that happens.

I think an announcement will come too, but not until summer at the very earliest, most likely 2011 will be the big year and I also think that Kate will be with William on his next visit down under.

I hope she is watching all these videos and getting a great deal of pleasure from them.

Absolutely loved the video with Arthur Edwards, by the way.

  • AJ #48 - January 18, 2010 at 10:25 am

^^^ Lisa, did you happen to buy the copy of Hello! magazine? I was wondering what the story said and what the “homemade gift” was.

  • Rman #49 - January 18, 2010 at 10:47 am

    Good Morning All,

I really like the Hello! cover and I can’t wait to find out there take on Kate’s gift.

LadyB, I too liked the Arthur Edwards interview and I also liked Judy Wades article. We will most likely be able to celebrate a royal union by next year.

  • Lisa #50 - January 18, 2010 at 10:47 am

AJ,I live in the states and Hello! is a little tough to get here. I do usually purchase the digital versions when they feature the royals, though. This issue is not available yet. I plan to keep watching for it but I will leave for work shortly and my co is getting cranky about out internet use even on breaks :( I will be online from home late tonight and again early in the morning, though. I will try to get the info and pass it on. Hopefully someone else will beat me to it. :)

Rman he was born to do this and slowly he is realizing this

I think it is more a fear of failure that keeps him from doing things.

I still think he is reticent as shown by not taking over as his grandmother wanted but this all proves how good he is at it

The picture of him and the indeginous man is absolutely breathtaking. Notice how serious William is and how he matches the others feeling in the moment as his mother did — giving but not totally taking over

he is one in a million and he needs to take hold of it and GO with it not hide it away for another 10 years !!!!

  • really? #56 - January 18, 2010 at 2:24 pm

It would have been nice for Hello to work on Prince William’s WINGS and not Kate for once!

  • Rman #57 - January 18, 2010 at 2:34 pm

Well really?, that’s how it is when the royals have a beautiful young couple on their hands. The media always get excited about William & Kate, espeacially since the time is approaching for them to marry. It was his special day and he had the love of his life by his side, they expected the media to talk about them.

  • Danielle #58 - January 18, 2010 at 3:35 pm

Ok, guys,I have the scoop on the birthday present from Hello!

He baked her a cake which he presented to her at the Potting Shed at dinner with Pippa,James and a few others. Obviously someone at the Potting Shed sold them out. Cute article but nothing much new. Did say a hen party arrived during thier dinner and the hen sent Kate a drink which she accepted and then invited the hen to their table and had some drinks with them. Wills asked Pippa to bring out the cake and he asked the lights be dimmed in the resturant and they sang “Happy birthday” . Pretty normal.

  • Lisa #63 - January 19, 2010 at 9:06 am

BTW…it must have been the waiter that dimed them out because the text includes a quote about William being offered to taste the wine and him questioning if people really send it back. Just my guess.

  • Phoebe #64 - January 19, 2010 at 9:14 am

Isn’t the Potting Shed where they were caught on camera in a clinch in the parking lot?

  • Lisa #65 - January 19, 2010 at 9:16 am

    Some Hello! Poll results..

66% think William should be allowed to marry when he wants

37% Admire his William compassion and charity work most

36% think Kate’s loyality and discretion are her best attributes.

30% agree that Kate is the best choice for William’s bride. (58% did not state a preference 1% and 2% disagreed or strongly disagreed)

32% agreed that a wedding between William and Kate would lift the nations spirits (17% disagreed and 16% strongly disagreed while 28% were “unsure” )

15% said the Queen was their favorite royal with William 2nd at 12% and Charles at 5% (ouch)

  • Lisa #66 - January 19, 2010 at 9:18 am

Yes,Phoebe,I think they go there often.

  • AJ #67 - January 19, 2010 at 10:32 am

Thanks, Lisa! Aww – I thnk it’s cute he baked her a cake – he’s said several times that he likes to cook – and I think it’s funny he asked if people send wine back – I wouldn’t know a good wine from a bad wine. As for the poll, once he marries her, the numbers will go up. She’s a good choice for a queen, and people just have to get to know her better.

  • AJ #68 - January 19, 2010 at 10:36 am

Oh – and thanks for the pics and video links, everyone! Now if one of them would just visit the states – but we’re not a commonwealth country, so we’re not high on their list, I suppose.

  • really? #69 - January 19, 2010 at 10:40 am

    Interesting poll

PR should pat themselve on the back because eventhough Hello! does everything to make william abot Kate they actually have disproved it works!

    Good on Prince William !

  • Hale #70 - January 19, 2010 at 11:06 am

really?… have enjoyed all your post and totally agree with you.

Unfortunately, British TV news are not giving this visit the kind of coverage previous royal visits have had, so thanks to everyone for providing all the great video’s there a joy to watch.

  • really? #71 - January 19, 2010 at 11:41 am

Thanks Hale! That is nice of you!

that is too bad to hear but it is almost better to be underestimated/undershown by british press — he can get a ground swell of REAL support that the press will then try to get on !
    they are so obvious!

  • LadyB #72 - January 19, 2010 at 11:46 am

Lisa, thanks for posting the results of that poll. Overwhelmingly, it seems that most people do not think he should be in a hurry to get married and this chimes with my view.

I hope we get a chance to see more of William doing his charity work and making special visits, whereby he can build on his growing popularity. The rest can come all in good time.

  • Rman #73 - January 19, 2010 at 12:12 pm

Well I don’t they have been in a rush, that is why they have waited this long. After their wedding (most likely next year) they will do some traveling like this, especially during The Queen’s Diamond Jubliee. William & Kate will grow in their future roles together.
