He is drawing some enormous crowds and here’s what the people think about him:

Aussies want Prince William as next king January 19, 2010

The majority of Australians would prefer Britain’s Prince William to be their next king instead of his father Prince Charles, according to a poll published on Tuesday.

Sixty-three per cent of Australian women said they would like to see William ascend to the throne after Queen Elizabeth II, with just 28 per cent preferring Charles.

You know what guys one good thing which can come of this visit is that Kate is well liked around the world. That maybe quite a bold statement but for children and adults having gifts and presents for her and asking questions about her there is a definite genuine interest which will be hard to deny…

Lets hope his wait and see comment means soon :)

  • Rman #11 - January 19, 2010 at 1:04 pm

That’s true JJ. I’m not all that surprised that Kate has lots of gifts coming to her from this trip. The people are looking towards the future and they want to meet her. That’s a very good thing to hear.

I have to say that I’m very proud of William because after all the talk about him not accepting his destiny and trying to hide from it all, this trip is proving that he not only accepts his destiny but he seems to be happy and hopeful about the future.

I see some people are paying attention to what the polls are saying about who should become the next Monarch but I think that is happening because there a need to see a young Monarch on the throne and that’s not what they are going to get. Charles will be a good King, he’s well prepared for it. What people don’t realize is that in the future, they will get a new Duke & Duchess of Cornwall then later a new Prince & Princess of Wales. I’m looking forward to William and his bride taking on the roles of Prince & Princess of Wales. Those roles will ultimately prepare them for being a King & Queen.

He got a great respect from us here in oz. The crowds were so crazy for him and the headlines were everywhere.

In Nz, an eight-year-old girl gave a gift to prince william for kate and he said thank you very much.

On the second day he’ll visit mrs maquarie chair and have a bbq and is going to visit some army troops.

We dont know what he’ll do this evening but it has been reported that he spent time in a posh nightclub.

  • Aussie #15 - January 19, 2010 at 3:35 pm

“Aides said the Prince was deliberately drawing attention to the issue by inviting the Aborigines to raise it with them. They also said he would give Australia’s governor general a copy of a 1937 petition for better living conditions that was supposed to have been handed to King George VI but was lost by the Australian authorities.”

You know maybe this trip will be a good eye opener for William with regards to Kate too. He can see that there is genuine public interest & that she is well liked & that we the people aren’t the enemy. We just want to know more. I’d love to see Kates face when she receives the gifts :)

  • Phoebe #19 - January 19, 2010 at 8:02 pm

    Cagey William.

  • Rman #20 - January 19, 2010 at 9:20 pm

JJ, I know she will love them and may be even touched by the very thought of the gifts.

  • Katharine #22 - January 19, 2010 at 10:16 pm

I agree jj but I’m also very happy that Kate and her family are seeing how well liked she is. Goodness knows they deserve it after some of the nonsense they’ve endured. And the more of this reality we see, the less relevant the sad agendas of KN and her kind.

  • keysmom #23 - January 19, 2010 at 10:19 pm

Rman, quick question re your post at 11. W & K will be the new Duke & Duchess of Cornwall? How does that work? I thought Camilla (& Charles ) was the D of C? What title would Camilla have if KM becomes Duchess of Cornwall? I hope she won’t use Princess of Wales. That just STILL doesn’t seem quite right. P.S. I agree, William is really doing a great job down under. Thanks to all for the links.

  • Katharine #24 - January 19, 2010 at 10:23 pm

K & W will be the Prince and Princess of Wales. Camilla will remain a Duchess until she becomes Queen. And on that note, God Save the Queen!

  • really? #25 - January 19, 2010 at 10:31 pm

i think wiliams DAUGHTER should be princess of wales not his wife!

  • Rman #26 - January 19, 2010 at 10:32 pm

keysmom, when Charles comes to the throne William will automatically become the Duke of Cornwall, that will make William’s wife the Duchess of Cornwall. Charles will become King and Camilla will become HRH The Princess Consort. Charles will most likely grant William the title, Prince of Wales and that will make his wife, the Princess of Wales. Since William is likely to marry way before any of this happens, The Queen may grant William and his wife a title after their marriage. I have no idea what the title may be, some think it will the Duke of Cambridge but who knows.

  • Rman #27 - January 19, 2010 at 10:42 pm

I know it sounds confusing but I have tried my best to understand the way these titles work. The Prince of Wales title is always granted to the eldest son of the Monarch, in this case William is Charles’s eldest son so he will most likely become the next Prince of Wales and that will make his wife the next Princess of Wales. We all know right now Camilla is the current Princess of Wales but she did not want to use it out of respect to Diana.

Thanks Rman. I thought I read on here that KM would be the Princess William, after they marry. Now I think I get it. KM will be DoC after Charles ascends to the throne, AHH so many titles very difficult to keep track of…..

  • jj #32 - January 19, 2010 at 11:59 pm

    Rman

It would have been a disaster if Camilla had taken up the Princess of Wales title. For once the palace advisers got something right. Duchess of Cornwall is a much wiser choice. Who knows what Kate will be called at this point I don’t really care as long as I hear the engagement announcement she could be the princess of Disney land for all I care…

  • really? #33 - January 20, 2010 at 12:04 am

I WONDER if that was actually Camilla who said no to it .. she was the one who said no to goingto diana’s memorial event – the only nice thing she ever did for diana ….

    about wedding question about pw

  • Rman #36 - January 20, 2010 at 1:30 am

    I hear you JJ.

Well even though I think Camilla was advised on the title issue, I really do think she knew it wouldn’t be wise to be officially addressed as the Princess of Wales and I don’t think William & Harry would have liked it. The Queen also most likely played a role in that too.

As for the memorial service, I think that just turned out to be a crazy issue. I think William & Harry invited her not only because they are being nice to their fathers wife but they really wanted to make a statement of healing on what happened in the past. That’s what I got out it personally but the media went insane over the idea of Camilla attending the service so Camilla was advised by the Queen and others to not go. I still to this day think she should have attended the service because I got what William & Harry was trying to do and I think it would have been a good way for Camilla to make peace on her past mistake and pay her respects to Diana. JMO!

Morning guys and thanks to all for all the links and information. Steven is right,it is hard to keep up with! The videos are great, the pictures are overwhelming!!!

All I can say about this all is that William has arrived on the worlds stage! :)

  • Hale #41 - January 20, 2010 at 9:03 am

There seems to be some confusion about titles. This is how it usually works.

The 1st son of the monarch becomes Prince of Wales. The 2nd son of the monarch becomes Duke of York & the 3rd son usually becomes Duke of Clarence.

As you know PC is POW. When Charles ascends the throne then William shall automatically become Prince of Wales.

Prince Edward is the third son of the present Queen, but did not take the title of Duke of Clarence. I suspect that is because one day he is likely to inherit his fathers title which is Duke of Edinburgh.

If W & K were to marry, I suspect the title they would take for now is the Duke & Duchess of Clarence and Avondale.

  • jj #42 - January 20, 2010 at 9:26 am

Rman I think we will have to disagree on that one. I don’t think it was ever a good idea that Camilla attended the memorial service. Her and Diana weren’t friends they didn’t like each other in fact I’d say probably the opposite and given that they didn’t get along IMO she shouldn’t have been invited. But that is in the past now and hopefully nothing like that will ever happen again.

  • Rman #43 - January 20, 2010 at 9:43 am

    Good Morning,

You could see it that way too JJ. I just think William & Harry was trying to say that it was time to move on and leave the past in the past. It’s one of the reasons why they invited Mohamed’s daughter, Camilla al Fayed to the service. They realize that her family too lost a family member that night, even though her father blames the royals for Dodi’s death. William & Harry tried to make a statement with the memorial service and the message was for everyone to remember Diana, the great work she did and let her rest in peace. I just think the media and some members of the public was so caught up in the past, they somehow missed the princes point. But yeah we can disagree on that JJ.

  • Rman #44 - January 20, 2010 at 10:26 am

I know guys, it’s very hard to keep up with all these links. I just never seen so many videos of William coming so fast like this. I guess we just have to get use to since William is now hitting the royal stage. Imagine how it will be once he marry, the world will go crazy but the couple will handle it beautifully.

  • really? #45 - January 20, 2010 at 10:53 am

ooooo i like those titles for
    will and wife

    very cool

I am with you JJ on the Diana thing

It was completely inappropriate whatever where williams and harry’s wishes publically maybe they didn’t really want her there but felt they had to try and make amends anyway they could
that would have been taking it too far

  • Lisa #46 - January 20, 2010 at 11:01 am

Hale, thanks for the title information. One question..I understood that the “Clarence” title was like off the table because of the association with “Jack”. LOL. Isn’t the most likely title supposed to be Cambridge?

  • Me #47 - January 20, 2010 at 11:05 am

  • Rman #50 - January 20, 2010 at 12:40 pm

Who knows Lisa, I’m sure whatever title The Queen grants to William and his bride will be nice.

Hale, the title of Prince of Wales will not be automatically given to William. It’s a title that has to be granted to him and it will most likely be debated by the Welsh people. The very day when Charles comes to the throne, William will become The Duke of Cornwall and that will make his wife The Duchess of Cornwall. Charles will have to announce that William will be invested as The Prince of Wales.

  • LadyB #51 - January 20, 2010 at 4:47 pm

Well, I am struck by how many happy, happy faces there are in those pictures!

Well done, William! Enjoy the rest of your stay and come home safely to us.

  • Katharine #52 - January 20, 2010 at 9:56 pm

Rman, I don’t buy the story that William and Harry invited Camilla to the memorial service. I believe it was Charles’ way of making us believe she was accepted by the boys. I’m not suggesting they wouldn’t have allowed her to come, but I don’t think it was quite the image CH wanted to portray. IMO she had no business thinking she could/should attend.
