I like Sophie – I know there was a lot of controversy surrounding her and Edward, but they seem like a nice couple with a cute kid ( I think they have just the one girl, but I could be wrong. )

Sounds like the start of a joke.

  • Rman #18 - February 12, 2010 at 10:33 pm

Interesting that the Duke of York has made this known-

“In the future, the Prince said the monarchy would be slimmed down.

‘I don’t disagree with the philosophy. It’s already happening. Those people who are advancing in years are doing less anyway. It is the grandchildren where the changes can take place.’

He said that Princess Anne’s children, Peter and Zara, had already opted out of royal duties.

‘It is different with Beatrice and Eugenie and the others as they have a title. William and Harry are doing things because they are part of the organisation. It will be smaller in the future.’”

When William gets to be King, his wife will be Queen Consort, will be doing a paper like the Duke of Edinburg/Prince Philip. The major role will be William, although the press and paparazzi will be more interested in Kate – she’s strong, but has been mirroring lately her bf ;)

So Harry went to loosen up some tensions, wonder if its the AirCorps or Chelsy.

That was coming Rman. It will come down to PW and PH and their children.

what i like about harry is he does things normally….for his age it is normal to go to a pub and to talk to people who say nice things about the chat — honestly he is a gem
the nice thing about him is he doesn’t use that type of event — going to a pub that is == to shake anything off — he goes becasue he is normal — good on him

i hope for the monarchies sake kate is NOT mirroring her boyfriend … she could do with her own personality and her own friends and her own way of doing things … enough of the copying

  • really? #28 - February 13, 2010 at 9:37 am

oh to have your husband have the major role
    wouldn’t that be wonderful
what exactly would you do with yourself
afterall you have servants to which you have NO IDEA how to treat
so I wonder what would you do with your time
afterall william seems incredibly self sufficient so much so that he doesn’t need anyone to help
just look at him in australia

you wonder what any wife would have as a role with him unless she can carve out something for herself beyond ‘support’ which seems to be irrelevant in his case
he doesn’t seem to need support at all

on the other hand his girlfriend seems to need a lot
like the slings in the press at her and the followign by papparazi
    the constant press attention
she is the one who needs support it looks like
but what kind has time for that>

  • Clover #31 - February 13, 2010 at 10:39 am

    Keysmom,
    It is not your fault.

EVERY time social class is discussed it leads to the expression of strong emotion.

In fact social class is really what divides all the different camps surrounding Kate Middleton.

If Kate was born an aristocrat then there would be much less heated debate on this forum.

So many here fight for Kate tooth and nail precisely because she is middle class and untitled. Otherwise they would hardly even notice of Miss Middleton.

  • keysmom #32 - February 13, 2010 at 10:49 am

Thanks Clover! I think maybe I should go back to just reading everyone else’s thoughts. Its safer that way! Although I do find the whole “royal thing” fascinating.

No! Please don’t go back to lurking. I think that we should all leave the social class discussion alone for a long, long time or forever. That is what I wanted to say.

We can discuss other issues related to the royals – just not social class and Kate Middleton, then you should be safe.

Okay? Stay and have fun! :)

    Good Morning,

I still find it interesting that it seems like everyone is worried about Kate’s social class except the guy that has been dating her all these years.

I fight for Kate because I just think she is treated so unfairly by the media and by people on the internet. I just never seen so many people express so much passion in hating someone because they believe the tabloids.

I haven’t been available to access this site for some time and am most dismayed to see how objectionable some people have become. What is wrong with everyone? Do please show some respect for each other – BUT I would add that this forum is usually very positive about Catherine Middleton so those of you who wish to be negative should go elsewhere.

And its also admirable when you know your wrong, to admit and carry on, instead of keep on with trouble making.

    Happy weekend

  • sojourner #72 - February 13, 2010 at 5:08 pm

We should not be disingenuous with each other. And lead by example. Be the first one to stop. Be the first one to be kind (or the second, since Rman has pretty much the 1st place wrapped up). Be the first one to be open minded and civil. All will follow.

If you chose not to be, then please do not criticize others who are not.

  • First time #73 - February 13, 2010 at 5:13 pm

hello, first of all i’d like to say that we need to stay polite and respect every opinion here. for me it seems that it is much more interesting and productive to share different views on any subjects. especially those subtle ones like breeding or fertility. and there is only one border which must not be stepped – morality. lets be honest to ourselves, this site has always been prokate and other opinions were not “grata” by most fruitful (by means of numerous of comments) posters. i do not wish this site to become something antikate though. i’d like it to stay democratic with a heath-wise discuss here. now rman, you always seem so polite, gentle, sweet, and sometimes even reasonable. would you be so kind as to tell me, please, do you believe in what you say? you sound as if you are the ONLY truth speaker. and i want to say its wrong to get people think how your own opinion is right. and when someone has a different view he/she is blamed of being a jealous troll. i agree with the most of your points though. not now but many times my thoughts were the same as yours, rman. i do think that kate is pretty, smart and loyal. talking about kate’s ancestry… well i always thought that william will choose a lady with aristocratic background or at least someone from european nobility. but i will accept any woman he will love and marry. i don’t say the word respect because i need to see some charity work from the princess first. and of course, i’d like her to do more of her own.

  • sojourner #74 - February 13, 2010 at 5:17 pm

    Rman re comment #18

It has been my feeling all along that one of the reasons KM and PW have yet to marry is precisely the fact that there are already too many royals. I am not saying that he will wait until HRH, his grandmother, passes before he marries — that would be morbid and silly. But I do think that some type of realignment of duties will be necessary.

Sectors of the public are already critical of KMs decision to work for her family, though it is her private choice and costs the tax payer nothing. Imagine if she were a royal without a very clear and significant set of duties to carry out!

  • really? #75 - February 13, 2010 at 5:19 pm

  • kat #80 - February 13, 2010 at 5:42 pm

Everone has their own opinions based on life’s experiences. Very few opinions will be changed by what is said here. I am pulling for Kate and William because I feel like they love each other. Someone might disagree. Let’s not ruin a good site by not respecting each other. We can all just agree to disagree. No one knows the future. However, Kate will be judged for what she does as a royal. For that matter, William will also be judged for his contribution to the monarchyy. If we had a crystal ball, we would have our answers. But we don’t. So as to quote someone very familiar, we have to “wait and see.”

    Hello First time,

Thanks you for the compliment. I don’t see my word as the Only truth but just my opinion. To me it’s not about being ‘proKate’ but to make it known that it’s not right on how she’s being treated in the media and on the internet. I do think all this negative energy that is directed at Kate Middleton has gone too far and has been going on far too long. I think somehow in the midst of all the tabloid stories and made up rumors about her and her family over the years, we somehow lost the sense of reality. It’s like people have turned all this fiction into real facts and it’s being used against her.

I can just tell that Kate has been trying to deal with William’s baggage the best way she can. She puts on a smile while in public, she support William’s military career, royal career and all his charity endeavors. She’s even involved with charity work but to me it seems like none of her efforts is recognized in the media and over the internet. People are way more focused on how many times she visited a club?, how many vacations she has been on?, do she really work at Party Pieces?, does she have to the right breeding?, etc. It’s just a bunch of petty stuff and I just don’t all of that is important. I recognize that William has a nice girlfriend that hs never left his side. She’s very supportive of him, loyal, loving and she don’t allow the press to scare her off. I just think it’s important for us to recognize these things and don’t forget that she’s still in a very tough spot and it’s not easy for her at all.

    Thanks AJ.
Let’s see the good side of things today: finally KN is being impartial with Kate and Chelsy! At least it was what it seems to me.

    Hi sojourner,

I heard the media talking about the ‘Firm’ slimming down but this is the first time I have read anyone in the royal family talk about it. I think it’s pretty safe to say that William & Harry will be the royals that will be doing lots of royal duties over time and when William & Kate get married, she will join them. I do believe that next year the weddig will take place and she will gradually take on royal duties alongside William. She won’t come fully into her own until she gain more experience at doing royal duties. It’s like the pattern we saw of Edward & Sophie after their marriage. She was mainly by his side then after a while she started to be more independent and gaining her own ideas about her duties. It’s an interesting process but Kate will get there.

I’m interested in seeing what other plans we will see play out this year.

Nice article on KM and CD. Glad it was not all bad/trash talk about both women.

Perfect timing for KM & LM to open an upscale cake store. Cupcakes and individual dessert cakes are all the rage now.

Very interesting as well that the “Firm” will have fewing “employees”. It will be interesting to see how that is accomplished. Are they going to vote people out like Survivor ? ;)

oops! should be KM & JM opeing the cake store

  • Rman #91 - February 13, 2010 at 7:48 pm

It will be great if James start up a new bakery business and it would be great if Kate helps him out but I highly doubt that she will go into the cake business. I don’t want to even imagine the things people would say about that.

I don’t believe either of the Katie Nicholl stories.

  • Jj #93 - February 13, 2010 at 8:03 pm

I think it’s beginning… Finally. Let’s hope the calmer press continues.

  • Hale #94 - February 13, 2010 at 8:12 pm

Keysmom, no don’t leave and thank you for your concern. The cast on my leg has now been removed and replaced with a sort of ski boot. Please don’t stop posting. The more the merrier. All forums get heated. It help clears the air. But then things settle down nicely.

What does everyone make on the article about Kate & James? I happen to think KN is desperately looking round for stories. The thing is I have always imagined Kate to be involved in all aspects of Party Pieces and busy learning all the different levels.

Pippa has her own party planning business which I had the impression is run through PP, just as James doing his cake business also through PP. It makes sense.

The problem is the one about Chelsy. Apparently Chelsy is not really in SA, but in London.

Katie Nicholl got that one wrong.

    Steve,
thank you for removing the prior posts. I am happy to be moderated.

Here’s the Duke of York again and he talks about his failed marriage and how he will look out for William & Harry’s marriages.

    Hale,
    Agreed on those silly pieces.

On KM, because basically, how would she know, and how could we confirm? Speak to the nameless girl said to have sold KM all those cakes? “Will Love Cakes Salesgirl of the Month please come foward…”?

On CD, the cash raised potentially could be confirmed by Sentebale, but who would admit to being so petty as to “tell off” someone who stops to visit and bring gifts to young orphans?

  • sojourner #98 - February 13, 2010 at 8:45 pm

    Rman,
thanks for the link. I found his comments on “lessons learned” from previous unsuccessful royal marriages rather vague and confusing. Is this a report on an interview presented somewhere else? I kind of want to go back to the source.

Also, given some of the opinions he expressed about bankers and bonuses, I am afraid he should prepare himself for some more “stones” being thrown at his “fishbowl”… :-?

its nice that both girls are getting nice comments

  • sojourner #102 - February 13, 2010 at 9:11 pm

    Thanks Me!

Both links, along with Rman’s, seem to suggest some kind of press conference setting. I say this because several articles mention similar things — Teddy Bear, tea, the like. Unless the poor chap had to meet these reporters one by one…

Does anyone know where Chelsy is and what she’s doing these days? I thought this was the start of her gap year…?
