Kate Middleton has been working on secret plans to start a new business with her brother, James.

They want to open a posh cake shop on the King’s Road in Chelsea and Kate has been checking out the opposition and looking for the perfect location.

‘Kate has been doing some research for James and just before Christmas she went to the Love Bakery on the Kings Road, where she ordered one of every cake,’ says my source. ‘She joked she was trying out the competition, which actually, she was.’

‘James thinks there’s a market for an upmarket cake shop which also sells all the bits and bobs you need to make cakes at homes.

‘Kate’s been helping him with market research and they are hoping to make an announcement this summer – although she’s keen not to be front-of-house,’ says the source. (via Daily Mail)

  • Hale #4 - February 14, 2010 at 12:25 pm

I saw this interview on TV. I happen to think that A & S had one of the friendliest divorces I have ever read about.

I have never forgotten when the media were virtually crucifying Sarah and it was announced they would divorce, Andrew, Sarah and the their daughters turned up at Ascot and stood in the crowds watching the procession of the Rf.

I found his interview interesting. How I interpreted it is “look, we’ve been through hell and back, we cannot go through this again so please, please make sure that you have thought this through.”

  • Rman #5 - February 14, 2010 at 12:31 pm

Hale, I agree and I think William & Kate did this back in 07. William made his statement when Kate appeared with the royal family at the Order of The Garter.

  • jbcarteris #6 - February 14, 2010 at 3:28 pm

The only statement PWilliam could make regarding her, would be an engagement, thus far he has not done so. Will he ever? or has she been given a answer on the matter and is now moving forward on her own to life back in the city?

The new cake making venture does not give a indication of the Palace moving her closer, but instead just opposite of a girl trying to still find a vocation for her future. It is sad at this juncture that this lovely woman is still on the rails, not being given a concrete path from Prince William.
Sad to see this for her after all these years.

Hope will still prevail for her still to embark on a titled life, with a ring from the Prince.

  • Katharine #7 - February 14, 2010 at 3:58 pm

Hale, I thought his comment was also directed at people on the inside who are in a position to be supportive (or not) of those who marry into the family.

  • P #9 - February 14, 2010 at 4:27 pm

When PW was 22 he said in a interview in Klosters: “I’m too youg to marry. I don’t want to marry before my 28, 30 years”. If his intention was NOT to get to married he would say something empty was Prince Albert of Monaco did recently when he said: “I will marry but the day didn’t comes yet…” – He’s already in his 50′s, who knows when it will be? – William established a time when he believes he will be ready, since that interview he never back and contradicted his declaration, so, to me he still thinks as that time. He is still dating Kate, they had split in 2007 but he realise he really wants to stay with her and they back (if he didn’t want he would tried to find another girl), and this year he completes 28. I trust in him, so from june of 2010 until june of 2013 I’m wating for a marriage. If after this time he doesn’t get married neitheir get engaged I can doubt of him. If he did a so clear decalration why to insist to say that just bc he and Kate are together for all this years he don’t want to marry her? If after married we hope they will be together for many and many years (forever) what’s the problem of they be already together for years before to marry?

  • P #10 - February 14, 2010 at 4:31 pm

I want to mean ‘clear declaration’

  • sojourner #11 - February 14, 2010 at 4:36 pm

    jb,
I understand that many people in UK and abroad feel this way. And yes, an engagement that leads to marriage is the ultimate sign of commitment.

However, there are also many others who feel that PW has found different ways to make a statement about his commitment. Her presence in each of his RF graduation ceremonies, multiple vacations, the list goes on. And this is because PW, an engagement is not only a show of his commitment to fiancee, but it is also her entrance into the RF.

The commitment can be expressed in different ways, and the official entrance into the RF need not be something either KM or PW might find necessary at this moment.

  • Rman #13 - February 14, 2010 at 5:00 pm

P, a lot of people don’t understand that when William made this statement to Duncan Larcombe, Kate was standing next to him when he said it. Duncan mentioned that Kate didn’t seem to be bothered with his statement.

sojourner, yeah it’s true that both William & Kate has found ways to make their commitment to other in public known. William just said, “wait and see” so it’s coming. I do believe we will have reason to celebrate a royal union next year.

  • P #14 - February 14, 2010 at 5:21 pm

Rman, don’t you understand I think Kate don’t agree with this, do you?

When he said “wait and see”? I lost this part.

Anyway what I want to say is that William isn’t running from wedding, as some use to see his actions. Like Andrew said, William learned with the mistakes from others royal marriages. He is responsable and for more he is sure Kate is the woman of his life he knows it’s complicated to marry her too earlier bc with a royal marriage comes lots of pressure. And I believe Kate share his opinions bc above all she always seemed to be very prudent and he is very sensible. I think some people are not understanding they are a mature couple.

  • Hale #15 - February 14, 2010 at 5:28 pm

    Katherine…..also very true.

  • Rman #16 - February 14, 2010 at 5:34 pm

That’s why the couple has waited this long, they gave the relationship the time it needs to mature and also it has given Kate enough time to get use to royal life. Diana & Sarah didn’t have this opportunity.

  • jbcarteris #17 - February 14, 2010 at 5:37 pm

She remains his girlfriend , to me that is sad at this point, anything can take place. It is sad because now her image has been wrecked by years of press and will take a bit of rehabilitation. Does the Palace want someone like that, not sure? He has let her to dry, on her own after years of press soakings for her and it continues further. The new reported business is why I feel sad for her, because it speaks of not being yet stable of ones future.

The 28 statement was a comment made in haste of a man in his early twenties and not something I’ve ever thought he woud chisel in stone if he felt he was not ready. 28 could turn out to be 28 or 35 depending on his needs and his decision.

  • P #18 - February 14, 2010 at 5:47 pm

To not start a discussion as we had in the last 2 days I just say each one has the right to have your own interpretation.
But I keep my thought. As a good fan I believe William isn’t like any man. I’m in Rman’s team for a wedding soon.

Rman, Happy Valentine’s Day to the internet’s most optimistic & arguably the most romantic poster out there!
Thanks for the link on Diana’s necklace. I actually saw that set in the huge, (everythings bigger in Texas huge) furniture store. I mean the place is amazing; there’s a restaurant, kids play room, & yes a cave like structure that has a uniformed gaurd standing outside. The suite of jewels was in a rotating glass case & was absolutley stunning! He had one of her dresses (on a mannequin) there at the time as well. Quite a bonus for this big Princess Diana fan, who was overwhelmed by the sheer size of the place never mind shopping for furniture, so I took a long break inside the cave & admired those gorgeous jewels for a long time. Yes, we bought an apartment’s worth of furniture there, but truth be told I was more interested in seeing Diana’s jewels!

With regards to this story about Kate, James & cakes, you’ve got to admit its better than the Kate going to NY story which usually follows the engagement stories.

As for Kate going to the Garter ceremony which posters should remember was an official royal engagement, I truly believe it was because W & K were planning to marry that year. I believe that the RF were beginning to include Kate in royal events.

I don’t believe that Kate’s family is also employing the likes of Haverson. The RF’s public relations people work exclusively for them.

What was interesting about that pic which rman posted was how relaxed Kate was with Haverson. It reminded me of the pics which were taken following the publication of the Uncle GG story. Do you remember? Kate was watching the Princes play Polo and there was a pic taken of Kate with JLP talking animatedly.

Just as Kates legal representatives are also the RF’s I suspect that the RF’s PR people also look out for the prince’s girlfriends.

  • Me #77 - February 15, 2010 at 7:14 pm

I disagree, the Order of the Garter Ceremony is a one in a life time, Prince William was Knighted THAT day in June from his grandmother as the 24th living Knight.

He will then every year participate with the rest of the knights in the ceremony. This year it seems Harry will be knighted as a Supernumerary knight, and when any of the other 24 die, he most likely will take the position as a member or companion as they call it.

This royal event is so special for the Sovereign that I recall Prince Andrew when knighted invited his ex wife for thus special ocassion.

  • Rman #78 - February 15, 2010 at 7:26 pm

Yes, it’s a very special ceremony. We should also note that long after William & Kate marry and he comes to the throne, Kate will too become Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

  • Rman #79 - February 15, 2010 at 7:28 pm

Or Sovereign of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, I think that will be the correct title.

ked re privacy and the footballer
i am not sure if this is he latest ruling or not on privacy

basically it says if you are saving your reputation for commerical use than perhaps you have no right to privacy
and secondly that if true it isn’t a breach of character as you are reportin on the truth

if this stands as the latest legislation of someone in the public eye i would guess the terms are so special here that it might be different for lets say kate to argue as she might be willing to give more evidence and as far as we know she is not gaining commercially as was terry

I think that IK read that when Kate is out wit William that she is considered to be under the public domain. Therefre, pictres of her are not under the ban on taking pictures of her. So the pictures would be allowed to be taken. n another note, I think William and Kate both knw what s in their heafrts. They know deep dwpn if they will end up together. Since I believe tat they are soulmates I believe that they love each other and therefore will get married. I do have a qestion? Well imagine if the paparazzi would have made her trip and she would have got burned with the coffee, we’d have a disfigured Kate.

    2) Kate playing tennis with her family in private property, last we know, the paparazzi indeed was been sued for taking photos from a window while the Middleton’s where having lunch.

Thanks AJ for the DM link.
Yep, there is definitely some photo-something going on in that picture. But it is a strong portrait. Hope it brings some good publicity and funds for the charity, and future work for the artist.

Me you said you disagreed with my post
and yet we are saying the same thing
this as a special occation — too special for just a girlfrend — but a bride to be yes

I dont’ know if anyone has ever told you this but much like when speaking to a foreiger in your native tongue speaking louder will not make your point more understood

it goes without saying that capitalizing as you did the word KNIGHTED, will not produce the effect you wish — it would only seek to offend

waiting to have you explain how you can disagree with my post when we are saying the same thing or perhaps you could make your ‘argument’ clearer (not louder L: )

oh I think celebrities or public figures are watching terry’s case carefully
if they take as cavalier an attitude as you are implying they should do – their ignorance could land them in more than a spot of trouble

but ked if you can enlighten it would be helpful
i was really directing to you as you had posted on the subject originally

  • roggle really? #87 - February 15, 2010 at 8:55 pm

    thanks kat

    that makes sense

  • Rman #88 - February 15, 2010 at 9:11 pm

I have no idea kat, maybe someone else know something about that. All I remember is the ‘wait and see’ remark.

  • Me #89 - February 15, 2010 at 9:12 pm

You said you agreed with Hale, that Kate was invited specifically to the Garter Order because wedding was to be.

I disagreed and said that’s a once in a life time…when PA was knighted, he invited his ex-wife…

  • Me #90 - February 15, 2010 at 9:17 pm

Oh and Ked wasn’t referring to the footballer in question, he referred to an OWNER of a football club, which is different.

When using in a phrase or sentence all in CAPS, it is shouting, I am Highlighting just a Word, there’s a difference there.

  • Me #91 - February 15, 2010 at 9:18 pm

And the owner won the case ;)

  • Me #92 - February 15, 2010 at 9:21 pm

Anyway, not to further on and disrupt, sorry for the cap emphasizing…if anyone felt offended.

  • roggle really? #94 - February 15, 2010 at 9:46 pm

    thank you for your apology
i see caps as emphasis when emphasis is not needed
    discussion is ….

  • Me #95 - February 15, 2010 at 9:55 pm

I happened to think that I need to re-highlight and emphasize my disagreement with the Garter Ceremony equals wedding, because it was apparent that my first post was read and you kept on saying we agreed, when clearly I did not think that going to a G ceremony meant imminent wedding announcement. I did give my reasons to the why of my opinion.

No sweat, although it would have been the same using underline or bold lettering, as we can’t in my favorite site.

    Aren’t those pics cute Clover.

  • roggle really? #96 - February 15, 2010 at 10:05 pm

    not needed as said before

i guess the photos are from today

is it a national holiday in the UK?

  • Pheobe #97 - February 15, 2010 at 10:21 pm

Odd that a photographer just happened to be there. Perhaps PW should consider hiring a plumber.

  • LOL #98 - February 15, 2010 at 10:21 pm

Vday is over. No engagement. But it’s okay, we have April Fools day coming up. Maybe then we’ll have an announcement. If not, then there’s William’s bday. Then Xmas, then New Year. If it doesn’t happen this year it’s because it will happen next year. Yep, definitely next year. But if not next year, it’s because they don’t want their engagement/wedding to coincide with the Olympics, the Queen’s diamond jubiliee……yada yada yada.

Give me a break. You guys make me laugh. I believe there’s a book written about this thing. It’s called: “He’s just not that into you”.

    LOL

Don’t get me wrong. I know they will get married someday. Probably when he’s as ugly as Edward, when he’s exhaused all the branch of the military, and has traveled the world and back doing royal engagements.

I feel bad for Waity Katey.

  • Me #99 - February 15, 2010 at 10:30 pm

Anyone with a camera at that public place may have well sold the photos.

LOL, is it just W&K and/or all other long term couples?

  • Rman #100 - February 15, 2010 at 11:00 pm

I don’t think anyone expected an engagement announcement after Valentine’s Day, but it’s coming. Just ‘wait and see’.

  • mapleleaf #101 - February 16, 2010 at 1:28 am

    To answer your question roggle-really?

Monday 15 February wasn’t a holiday in the UK, it was a regular work day and school day.

I saw the photos, and the text on both Zimbio and Bauer-Griffin said the photos were taken over the weekend on Valentine’s Day.

Wills is in training at RAF Angelsey in Wales, he has his weekends free but he has to be in Wales Monday through Friday. I think it’s highly unlikely Wills was in Berkshire on Monday afternoon instead of at a training class in Wales.

The above link is some info about the Pot Kiln.

Meanwhile about the Garter ceremony. I have always admired the way Andrew went about his divorce and his co parenting in regards to his children.

Kate was the FIRST EVER royal girlfriend invited to that ceremony. It is an official royal engagement.

Very true Hale. Kate the first ever royal girlfriend to attend that event. I just wish she could attend more official events with William.

Andrew & Sarah has set a great example. Charles & Diana were on their way to doing something similar to Andrew & Sarah but now we will never know how that would have turned out.
