    Helo,

I’m not sure if anyone here is interested but Mike T has been recalled to the English Rugby side to play on saturday.

Interesting comment that PH is possibly on his way back to Afghanistan . This must be a worry for many ,as accidents etc happen in war zones and although I don’t think it will happen, I expect PW to continue to push for a posting there.

PH has something that PW really envies which is his Afghan campaign medal which PA presented to him. PW hoped that his flight thee in the Hastings would qualify him but the rules state that it is only awarded after so many days spent in the war zone.

I’m sure KM knows that PW wants this medal and may be one reason why she wont commit until he’s out of the RAF. Can you imagine her life if they were married and something happened.

The whole matter of PH and PW going there just dowsn’t bear thinking about! I hope that someone on the staff sees sense but perhaps the whole report is just paper talk. Lets hope so.

    Hello Ked,

I really don’t know about Harry going back to Afghanistan but it’s known that William will not go to Afghanistan. Most recently Prince Andrew in his birthday interview also pointed that out. I think sadly William has now accepted that reality and the focus now his training and royal duties.

Most likely William & Kate will get married before Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee. I’m for one looking forward to that.

  • Me #5 - March 18, 2010 at 4:59 pm

Ked food for thought, I never thought about that!

  • Rman #6 - March 18, 2010 at 5:19 pm

I thought if they were serious on sending Harry back to Afghanistan they would at least be more cautious on putting that info out in the public.

I really don’t think William is competing with Harry to get the Afghan campaign medal. Harry did his duty and I think William is proud of him. William just want to serve his country but accepts the reality that it’s not possible for him to fight in Afghanistan.

Phoebe, you want to mean the cream coat and black boots outfit, don’t you? I totally agree if your answer is “yes”.
Eugenie also dressed an outfit like that in the Christmas but we know who was the first to wear this combination. It seems someones girlfriend is already influencing the RF wardrobe!

    Hello,

The 23rd April will be a very significant for photographers covering Royal events and it will be interesting first to see how the RF react and secondly how the press will respond to recent judgments.

It would be a sad day indeed if the press decide to boycott what is one of the longest established annual Royal events purely on the basis of the RF’s privacy issues and so very sad for the British Public who have so long supported and upheld the Monarchy.

It will just be time itself that will eventually decide if the RF’s advisors acted with ‘due diligence’ and ‘worthy thought’ on these privacy issues which may only have been initiated by the wishes of the younger Royals.

The system had worked for many years previously with the public giving very enthusiastic greetings at every Royal appearance.

The comments recently about KM bringing her hands to her face is interesting and the last three or four photographs of her after the Christmas holiday show her putting her hands to hewr face. Interesting? I’m not sure but has she suddenly stopped smiling when photographers are about ?

Is this again symptomatic of the privacy issue and fears she may be criticised and accused of encouraging photographers?

Yet again ZP seems to attract the press and takes it with good grace as do the DofY’s daughters and PH seemingly relishes relishes any valid photo opportunity.

Is PW’s phobia now reaching others around him?

  • Rman #20 - March 20, 2010 at 9:04 am

  • Rman #25 - March 20, 2010 at 10:05 am

Oh, you are talking about these pictures:

    http://tinyurl.com/yeo6p6v

She just had her two hands on her face but didn’t hide herself. Kate is pretty much graceful with the photographers when she’s in public. Over the years since the photographers have gained interest in her, she has given them great pictures. She just stood up for her and her family’s privacy when they are not in the public arena. I know many people think The Queen and her advisors were wrong to put their foot down on the family’s privacy but boundaries had to be set. If that had happened long ago, may the late Princess of Wales wouldn’t have had such a terrible battle with establishing privacy for herself and her children.

I know many think bad of Kate right now for taking legal action on privacy but at some point royal watchers will look back on the ‘royal girlfriend years’ and talk about the hardships she had to go through and how strong she remained throughout it all. She has endured so much, more than any previous royal girlfriends but she haven’t allowed it to break her. That’s why I’m going to be proud to see her walk up the isle most likely next year.

I doubt it. There could only be 24 Companion Members, in which to date non have died. Who is anyone kidding, Zara takes photographers in good grace? Gimme a break. She’s never seen a camera she doesn’t like. I mean I really do like her spunk. But she’s NOT camera shy. Especially with her affections towards her boyfriend. And her uncle Charles. She strikes me as a little over the top. Just my OP.

  • Guest #31 - March 20, 2010 at 3:30 pm

Let me add that to say she also is not an object of obsession with the press nor was her mother hounded to her death by paparrazzi, so she can enjoy…err…face the cameras better than William and Kate ever will. But she strikes me as a very well adjusted young woman who just “bucks up” as is said. Easy to buck up when your granny is the Queen, but hey, who am I to judge? :-)

  • P #32 - March 20, 2010 at 3:45 pm

How can a so frivolous person write to a big newsparper?
Is she britain? I’m asking this bc I don’t understand how can she say she don’t care who will marry William since she has a more fun wedding dress than his mother. I find this totally stupid.

Even with this insignificant piece of article (not for what she wrote, but for the way HOW she wrote), I would like to say although I don’t like the boots too – just bc she use to take them when it isn’t winter, bc when it’s winter is absolutely normal and what I think ridiculous is to shiver with cold to keep a good look as many women do – , IMO Kate has a great stile bc she didn’t seem to be a reproduction from a style magazine, make very good looks without need to wear famous (and expensive) stylists and as we saw recently (and we also can see in other times and different people) what this woman call lack of style is being followed for others.

  • Rman #33 - March 20, 2010 at 4:04 pm

The paps are not obsessed with Zara like they are with William and Kate. Zara has a big heart but she have her mother and grandfathers tongue.

  • jj #34 - March 20, 2010 at 4:08 pm

Also Guest neither Zara or Peter are 2nd or 3rd in line to the throne and have no title. If either or those things were the case things I’m betting would be a lot more intense with the paps. But regardless of all of that Zara, Peter, Beatrice and Eugeine are Royal and have to behave in a certain way. They have very little choice other than to smile and get on with it (or accept with good grace as Ked states) The Queen has put her foot down with Christmas time photography which indicates that the accepting paps with good grace is coming to an end…
Kate at the moment is just dating a royal she has no representation from the palace and she is a private citizen, if she wants to cover her face she can. Not that I think she did but until it’s official like you have pointed out many many times Kate is free to do as she pleases..

  • Guest #35 - March 20, 2010 at 4:22 pm

I plainly made the point that Zara is not an object of obsession like William or his mother, which probably explains her comfort with the cameras, to describe it nicely. She generally just strikes me as a bit over the top, especially in front of the cameras. I do like her though. As for the acid tongue, Zara (nor her mother or grandfather) has not met her match in someone who is not impressed with her station and who would give it right back to her in spades. If Prince Philip ever dared to form his lips to say anything off color to this Guest, he should be prepared for an in-kind response. I can go with the best of them. :-)

Express has made a great point in the privacy issues when you join these sites. Not only do the RF members have to be very careful anyone on these sites should be very wary of what you put on your site (or what someone else puts on their site about you). I don’t feel it is an invasion of privacy b/c Facebook and other sites like it are public and you know this when you set up your page. Read the fine print…..

  • Guest #40 - March 21, 2010 at 10:47 am

Kate is very wise for not having an account. The brother and sister and their friends however, are the weakest link. I’ve seen a TON of photos of them in their home in Berkshire, on their property, in the homes of others, etc. Some photos that I know will come out the day William & Kate announce their engagement. I think Kate’s relationship has put her family in a pickle.

  • Rman #41 - March 21, 2010 at 10:56 am

I somehow think James, Pippa and Chelsy are not the ones that put those pictures of themselves up, but friends and friends of friends did. Some of them think it’s okay to post those pictures without much thought about it. There have even been pictures up of Bea and her sister up as well. Their friends and friends of friends must know that it’s not cool to post private pictures of those who are of media interest.

  • Guest #42 - March 21, 2010 at 11:32 am

Sadly, they can’t control what others post. But they can control who they’re around and during what occasions. But they’ve got to live. And how would they look telling their friends “no pics, dude.” :-)

= ( I can’t get on the Express article – can anyone just tell me briefly what “kate’s nightmare” about facebook is?

  • Rman #45 - March 21, 2010 at 1:44 pm

Hi AJ, here is the article from the SE-

“Reports that Kate Middleton’s dog had eaten an antique pearl earring given to her by William raised eyebrows in royal circles recently, not least because the Prince’s long-term girlfriend doesn’t own a dog.

A Sunday newspaper was last week forced to issue a statement confirming it was removing the made-up story from its website after it was discredited by its rivals, including the Sunday Express.

Kate’s lawyer Gerrard Tyrrell of royal solicitors Harbottle & Lewis, who recently won her damages for breach of privacy, confirmed the article was untrue, joking: “We have been searching in vain for the dog.”

The incident has opened up yet another can of worms in the ongoing saga of the Royals’ quest for a less intrusive press. There are suggestions the canine caper was leaked by sources close to Kate, 28, in a bid to flush out someone who has been selling stories sourced from the social networking website Facebook. It would not be the first time the Royals have fed false information to someone they suspect of snitching.

Princes William and Harry are both known to have outed tell-tales this way, while their uncle Earl Spencer famously misled a blabbermouth in his midst into thinking he was moving to New York. When the hoax made its way into the newspapers he knew exactly who to point the finger at. Kate doesn’t have a Facebook page but her younger brother James does, as do a great many friends.

The Princes’ closest confidantes, those in the so-called “Circle of Trust”, are renowned for being the souls of discretion but ultimately the Royals have little control over what friends (and friends of friends) post on such sites as Facebook, Bebo and MySpace.

Although you generally have to be a “friend” of someone on Facebook to access their personal information and photo albums, not everyone opts for the most stringent privacy settings, leaving their own page and those of their “friends” vulnerable to prying web surfers.

The Sunday Express can reveal that incriminating photographs of Prince Andrew’s daughter Princess Eugenie had to be removed from the internet after they were posted by a Facebook friend and offered to a Spanish magazine. They are alleged to have shown a tipsy Eugenie, 19, kissing a female friend during her gap year in 2009.

Prince Harry’s girlfriend Chelsy Davy, 24, who is also on Facebook, had to beef up her privacy settings after learning that her photos could be accessed by outsiders while a source close to Zara Phillips revealed that Zara too had been the victim of well-meaning friends posting photographs of her online.

He said: “Zara doesn’t have her own Facebook account but has plenty of friends who think nothing of posting pictures of their nights out together.

“Although she makes no secret of the fact that she likes to socialise and enjoys a drink, these aren’t the kinds of photos she wants making it into the newspapers.”

A number of Royals are on Facebook under pseudonyms. For example William, 27, is known as Wills Wombat Wales but since this became public his activity on the site is limited to just befriending others. He doesn’t post pictures or comments on his page.

Harbottle & Lewis, which represents the Queen and Prince Charles, may now be minded to look into whether accessing the Facebook pages of the Royals and their friends constitutes a breach of privacy but, because the internet is a relatively new phenomenon, the law surrounding the use of pictures posted on the web is a grey area.

So far newspapers have “lifted” images from Facebook pages that are accessible to the public (ie not blocked by privacy settings) under the assumption that posting photographs is akin to publishing them. However, what if the subject of the photograph feels their privacy has been breached?

By having Facebook accounts, the Royals are effectively invading their own privacy but it could also be argued that photographs “snatched” of them in private by their friends and posted online are as potentially damaging as paparazzi shots.

Senior partner Tyrrell will no doubt be giving this careful thought having recently won Kate £5,000 in damages from picture agency Rex Features after it circulated photographs of her during a Christmas holiday with her family at Restormel Manor, Cornwall. British media outlets were offered the pictures but chose not to publish them after the Queen requested more privacy for her family over the festive period at Sandringham.

Previously the Royals had turned a blind eye to snatched photographs of them taken from public roads that did not involve trespass but a ruling in Germany in 2004 set a different precedent when Princess Caroline of Monaco won a claim after objecting to photographs taken of her in a public place.

The case appears to form the bedrock of Tyrrell’s quest for a privacy law, apparently supported by the Queen and heir to the throne, much to the chagrin of royal photographers and reporters alike, who fear it might lead to a blanket ban on photographing Royals anywhere but on official engagements.

So far the law has suggested that a person’s expectation of privacy must be “reasonable”. Only time will tell how “reasonable” the Palace and the press are willing to be.”

I hope it’s okay that I posted the article on here Steven.

  • Lisa #46 - March 21, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Interesting article,Rman. This privacy issue has many layers thats for sure.

I am not sure exactly what is going on with Facebook but the one comment I will make is that Kate’s brother James, who was adament recently about not commenting on whether he baked a cake for his sister’s birthday, seems more them happy to pose for pictures that he has to know that if they were to hit the internet, would be an embarrassment to his sister and her boyfriend. Maybe he wants to be Harry when he grows up,I don’t know. I know if it were me,I would be strongly suggesting to the Middleton sibs that they do their best to avoid having any pictures taken of them that would ever leave their possession. And by all mean..NO FACEBOOK. DUH!

  • Phoebe #47 - March 21, 2010 at 3:14 pm

What “embarassing” photos of James have surfaced recently?

  • Rman #48 - March 21, 2010 at 3:42 pm

There are no recent photos Phoebe but James, Pippa, The York sisters and Chelsy have friends that have leaked silly photos of them on the net in the past. This is not just about Kate’s family. They were pictures of them enjoying parties and etc but people on the forums have made a big deal about them so in a way, the pics are “embarassing”.

I think all of this is coming up because the royals and their lawyers are trying to set up a privacy law.

  • Phoebe #49 - March 21, 2010 at 3:45 pm

The “embarassing” photos of James were sold to the press and printed in 2007! Folks, that’s over three years ago. Give this guy a break. His life has been, if not ruined, definitely side-tracked by his sister’s relationship. He also deserves some credit. I personally would have told her and her BF to go jump in the lake.

  • Guest #50 - March 21, 2010 at 3:55 pm

I agree Phoebe. I mean, I think Kate seems to be a great match for William, and she seems a lovely girl based on accounts by people who have known her personally, but their obsession with hiding from the press sometimes borders on the insane. I personally would have told her the same thing, which apparently, judging from those pics of James years ago, is exactly what he has said to Kate. They’ve got to be able to live their lives without being fearful of sneezing for fear it will hit the papers.

  • Rman #51 - March 21, 2010 at 3:56 pm

    Hi Lisa,

I think the Middleton’s and the Davy’s are trying to be very careful on what they do but most likely didn’t know that their private ‘party’ pictures would be leaked by their friends and friends of friends. The article did say:

“The Princes’ closest confidantes, those in the so-called “Circle of Trust”, are renowned for being the souls of discretion but ultimately the Royals have little control over what friends (and friends of friends) post on such sites as Facebook, Bebo and MySpace.

Although you generally have to be a “friend” of someone on Facebook to access their personal information and photo albums, not everyone opts for the most stringent privacy settings, leaving their own page and those of their “friends” vulnerable to prying web surfers”

Maybe the young royals shouldn’t take private pictures anymore. Their friends shouldn’t be so careless.

  • Lisa #52 - March 21, 2010 at 3:58 pm

Phoebe, no need to get defensive over James. while it is true that Kate’s relationship with William has caused some complications in the lives of her siblings,it has also opened many doors for them that would otherwise not been opened and that is likely to continue into the future. You have to take the good with the bad. I stand on my opinion that James and Pippa must be very mindful of their behaviors and keep their friends under control. And I do think they understand this. Not sure, however how old the picture I saw recently was but I had not seen it before.

  • Rman #53 - March 21, 2010 at 4:06 pm

That’s true too Phoebe & Guest. That’s why I made the argument awhile back that Pippa and James should be allowed to go on and live their lives and go to parties with their friends and attend fashion shows. Kate & William have not blocked Pippa & James from enjoying their young lives. If they did, it would become a major problem for William & Kate and the Middleton family. People have said that Pippa & James should stay hidden away from the publics view but that’s not in anyway possible. Chelsy have not stopped her brother Shaun from enjoying his life either and we have seen some pictures of them leaked on the net too. The Sunday Express made this article seem like its all about Kate and her family but it’s also about the York girls and Chelsy too.

  • AJ #54 - March 21, 2010 at 4:14 pm

^^^ Interesting article – thanks, Rman! I’m suprised the royals themselves would have a facebook page, twitter account – anything where they posted something that could come back to haunt them. They caution regular people to watch what they put on theirs. Usually the famous people that do that use them as a sort of fan website where the public is meant to come, not a private site.

Of course, you can’t control what someone else posts, so maybe “Wills Wombat Wales” decided why not have one himself? I wonder if he posted any pictures on it – even ones he took himself of other people.

  • Rman #55 - March 21, 2010 at 4:17 pm

I think the Middletons and Davys are careful but they must get serious with their friends and their friends friends and tell them not to leak photos and beef up their networking accounts security.

Lisa many of those pictures of the Middleton sibilings and even the Davys are pretty old but the people on the royal forums pretty much keep passing on these pics to use against Kate, James and Pippa and they make up their lies with them. The photos of Chelsy, her friends and her brother are on the royal forums too but her supporters say that the Davy’s pictures are fun and cute but the Middletons pictures could possibly ruin the royal family. There’s a double standard in this case too.

  • Lisa #56 - March 21, 2010 at 4:24 pm

Rman,I agree about the double standard when it comes to the two girlfriends and I did not bring up Chelsy mainly because I am not in the least bit impressed by her or her ability to control her friends. I also don’t think she and harry see each other much anymore and if they do, I doubt the relationship is “exclusive”,which is really fine as they are young and don’t really need to get tied down at this point.

  • Phoebe #57 - March 21, 2010 at 4:32 pm

As far as I know, anybody can get on Facebook and call themselves “Wills Wombat Wales”, or “James Middleton” for that matter.

  • Rman #58 - March 21, 2010 at 4:58 pm

Phoebe, I think that’s what we have to look out for. There are false Facebook accounts and Twitter accounts. Most recently someone opened a Twitter account under, Carole Middleton and they have a picture of Kate’s mom up and there’s a Twitter account under the name, Kate Middleton with a picture of Kate up as well. I really don’t think if William would open a Facebook account he would name it, “Wills Wombat Wales”. Last year comedienne and actress had to address on ‘The View’ that she don’t have a Twitter account but there is an account open with her name and she have thousands following her. So yeah anyone can open an account under these well known people names and you would be surprised to fnd out that it’s not the real deal.

  • AJ #59 - March 21, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Yeah, I noticed the Kate/Chelsy double standard, too, but since you don’t see Chelsy all that much I agree with Lisa – I think they’re not exclusive anymore.

I think the North Pole trip would be interesting – while I would have loved to have been the NBC woman who got to interview Harry ( and spend the rest of the time lying on the beach ) I would hate to have to be the poor reporter who has to follow him to the North Pole and interview him- wonder if NBC’ll send someone for that?

Is at least William going on the South African trip still, or are neither of them going? Has anyone heard anything more about that?

^^^ I know it’s easy to fake a celebrity on Twitter – that’s why the have the “verify” checkmark so you know it’s the real celebrity.

    Re: Facebook

Either in the US or UK, I forget, the wife of a candidate to head a very high level intelligence agency totally hurt said candidates chances (might have even got them fired) by posting simply silly pictures of them on their Facebook account.

People really don’t get Facebook, I am afraid.
I learned my lesson vicariously. My husband opened an account and within 24 hours of having it, a “friend” from high school posted a picture of him laying in bed with 6 girls (everyone fully clothed, but still…) on to his account. While I was LMAO, he spent over a week making sure it was totally closed down.

Rman,I recently saw that Carole Middleton account on Twitter.Someone should consider dropping a line to Kate’s attorney’s as Twitter has impersonation in their terms of service and will act but it must come from the person themselves or a legal representative.

These Kate haters out there are just sad. I had to protect my tweets because one of them put me on one of their stupid little “lists”.

William and Kate on the cover of this weeks HELLO:

  • Rman #65 - March 22, 2010 at 8:44 am

    Good Morning All,

Lisa my friend I do agree.

  • Rman #66 - March 22, 2010 at 8:49 am

LOl, OMG!, they look cute but I just had to laugh. Looks like they had the time of their lives.

  • Lisa #67 - March 22, 2010 at 9:08 am

Is the cover real? It looks weird.

  • sojourner #68 - March 22, 2010 at 9:11 am

    Talk about action shot!
I think the picture makes it look like PW was determined to make sure that pap would not take the picture — at least a little bit. PW’s determined look on his face, KMs look on her face…

  • Rman #69 - March 22, 2010 at 9:14 am

Yes I think the cover is real. I notice William didn’t have his sheild down on his helmet so I think his face was cold. They both gave the photographers the shot they wanted.

I would have to see the mag in person. If they gave an exclusive to Hello! they will be greatly criticized for it. I wonder who is behind all of this.

  • Rman #71 - March 22, 2010 at 9:28 am

I hope someone would scan the Hello! article.

  • maddie #72 - March 22, 2010 at 9:56 am

    Love it!!!!

  • Lisa #73 - March 22, 2010 at 10:10 am

I will buy the digital version when it is available.

  • jj #74 - March 22, 2010 at 10:47 am

That is a great “staged” photo no? Maybe one of their friends were taking the original and a pap just got the same shot. Whatever it is I don’t care I like it!

  • Rman #75 - March 22, 2010 at 10:58 am

I love the photo because it shows them having fun and it shows their love for each other. I know some may say that it’s staged or something but this is the real deal here.

Charles & Camilla to host TV Cooking Contest:

I’m looking forward to seeing that on BBC America. I enjoyed the episode for The Queen’s 80th birthday awhile back.

  • Phoebe #77 - March 22, 2010 at 12:46 pm

They look like they are enjoying themselves. Does anyone wonder why they don’t want to get married?

  • curious #78 - March 22, 2010 at 12:54 pm

With that shy smile William looks like a boy at his first date with his first girlfriend

  • Rman #79 - March 22, 2010 at 1:01 pm

Well they can still have this kind of fun even while they are married. The Prince & Princess of Wales went skiing nearly ever year while they were married. The Duke & Duchess of York went skiing every year too. This fun won’t stop once they say ‘I do or I will’. I see some on the other forum think William is an idiot for having fun with his girlfriend on that trip. They make me laugh i have to say
