Chelsy Davy’s loving Leeds

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

She’s no stranger to the bright lights of London or polo fields of Berkshire, but life is suddenly smiles better “up North” for stunning Chelsy Davy.

Prince Harry’s blonde girlfriend has fallen in love with Leeds after settling into university there.

She’s having a ball hitting the city’s student hangouts with a posse of new pals. Her sunny mood is a far cry from how she appeared just a few months ago.

A chilly and lonely Chelsy spent a miserable winter in her £50-a-week student digs.

One pal said: “It’s no secret Chelsy wasn’t very happy up here at first, but that’s no surprise. Plenty of students - especially foreign students - feel homesick and Chelsy was no different.

“But she stuck it out and and has made a solid group of friends for fun and companionship.”

Chelsy previously studied in Cape Town, South Africa, where she lived with her brother Shaun, 25, in a luxury detached house and drove around in a soft-top Mercedes.

Chelsy pats the Pup as Harry plays Polo

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Britain’s Prince Harry was cheered on by girlfriend Chelsy Davy at a charity polo match this weekend.

Chelsy - dressed in a blue top and white skirt - was reportedly a low-key presence at the event, mainly staying in the VIP tent.

Fellow spectator Morva White said: “Chelsy was here, watching from a VIP tent, along with some other members of Hurlingham, the club William and Harry both play for. She was getting quite excited.”

“The prince was just getting on with business - he’s much more concerned about raising money for his charity when he’s playing polo. Chelsy is very good at keeping out of the way for these sorts of events.”

Harry’s team, Umbongo, lost to Laird in the Dorchester Cup at Cirencester Park by eight to six-and-a-half.

The tournament was raising money for three causes, including Harry’s charity Sentable, which helps AIDS orphans in the African region of Lesotho. (via Monsters & Critics)

Canadian bride, British groom and a no-frills royal wedding - The Star
She gave up Catholicism to marry the Queen’s first-born grandson. But Montrealer Autumn Kelly has no intention of trading away her Canadian passport for entry into Britain’s royal circle. Next Saturday’s ceremony, to be held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, is planned to unfold with minimal pomp and pageantry. Some 300 guests will attend, compared with the 2,000 who witnessed the marriage of Prince Charles and Diana Spencer in 1981…

It’s advertising the royal way because one deserves it
- The Guardian
There is, apparently, ‘consternation’ at Buckingham Palace, because Peter Phillips has done Hello!. I’m not sure I have ever felt consternation. I have experienced worry, anxiety, irritation, annoyance, exasperation - when trying to get through the switchboard at British Gas, all five at once - but consternation is felt only by those who are too posh to shout…

Kate, Chelsy, William and Harry attend Polo Match

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

Princes William and Harry threw themselves into a polo match yesterday, Kate Middleton and Chelsy Davy sat side-by-side sipping their drinks and chatting.

The pair stayed in the shade of a marquee at Coworth Park, near Ascot in Berkshire, while watching the Princes compete.

While Chelsy was casual in her blue jeans and double-breasted plaid jacket, Kate looked a little smarter in a fitted cropped jacket and dark jeans.

The girls were inseparable for much of the time. But although Kate sat back and watched William on the field, Chelsy, a student at Leeds University, seemed preoccupied with a stack of papers she had with her, which she looked to be studying.

William and Harry were competing in the Audi polo match for the Um Bongo team. After the match they collected medals from a tent, although their girlfriends remained in the neighbouring marquee. (via Daily Mail)

Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy Engagement Rumours

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

PHOTO - Fox NewsClarence House was put on red alert after Fox News, the excitable American TV channel, broadcast claims that Prince Harry had become engaged to his soignee girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

According to Wednesday’s bulletin, the Prince had told Chelsy’s parents that he was going to ask the Queen for permission to marry. As the U.S. networks waded in, a royal aide urged caution. “I’m 95 per cent certain it isn’t true, but give me ten minutes.”

Order was restored. “It wouldn’t do if the Yankees were to break such an event,” murmurs a courtier. (via Daily Mail)

Chelsy Davy gets her invite to Royal Wedding

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

PHOTO - Chelsy DavyIt’s been a long time coming – but Prince Harry’s girlfriend Chelsy Davy has at last been invited to her first official Royal engagement.

The 22-year-old, who has watched from the sidelines as Kate Middleton has been welcomed at Royal functions while she has been excluded, has been invited to Peter Phillips’s wedding next month.

Chelsy was left off the original guest list when it was drawn up earlier this year. At the time, she and Harry had suffered a wobble in their relationship but now, following their reunion after the Prince returned safely from Afghanistan, there has been a rethink.

The invitation shows that Chelsy is now being welcomed into Royal circles.

But rather than accept with alacrity, Chelsy has yet to respond to the Royal invitation.

Buckingham Palace yesterday wouldn’t comment but one of her university friends in Leeds tells me: “Chels received the invite last week but she has yet to reply.
