Friday could bring the summer’s biggest romance news. Or it could bring nothing but Friday.
A couple of months ago, the Daily Beast’s Tina Brown dropped a few hints that, come summertime, Britain’s Prince William would finally pop the question to Kate Middleton, his girlfriend of seven years.
“A highly placed source in royal circles said that two days in June have been mysteriously blocked out on the palace diaries – June 3 and 4,” Brown wrote.
Well, that day is almost at hand (the day that may announce the day, anyway) and so far, there’s not much to tell.
A few days ago author Nicholas Davies, who penned the biography “William : King for the 21st Century
,” stoked rumors by telling Star Magazine: “William has always said he will be ready for marriage after his 28th birthday — that’s next month.”

It was the night of the annual Don’t Walk charity fashion show – March 27, 2002 – during Prince William’s second semester at St Andrews university, when it hit him.As Kate Middleton shimmied down the catwalk, William, 19, turned to his friend Fergus Boyd. ‘Wow, Fergus,’ he whispered. ‘Kate’s hot!’
He had paid £200 for his front-row ticket, and when Kate appeared in black underwear and see-through dress, William barely knew where to look. At a party afterwards, William made his move. He and Kate, then 20, were huddled in a corner deep in conversation. As they clinked glasses to toast her success, William leaned in to kiss her.
Kate pulled away, momentarily stunned that he had been so bold in a room full of strangers. At the time she was dating a fourth-year student, but William didn’t seem to care.
‘He actually told her she was a knockout that night, which caused her to blush,’ remembers a friend who witnessed the moment. ’There was definitely chemistry between them and Kate had really made an impression on William, but she played it very cool. She didn’t want to give off the wrong impression or make it too easy for him.’

Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton were among 20,000 music fans who have watched day one of Radio 1′s Big Weekend draw to a close.
The pair were in Bangor, north Wales, to watch artists like Florence & the Machine, Ellie Goulding and Tinie Tempah entertain fans at Vaynol Park.
After meeting Prince William chart-topping London rapper Tinie Tempah said: “He was a nice guy. We were just talking and getting familiar.
“It was a real big deal for me.” He added: “I was a little bit overwhelmed but it was good. We’ve never met before. He just said he was, ‘feeling everything and a big fan of the music’.” (via BBC Radio 1)

It is often claimed that public interest in the Royal family has diminished since the days when the wedding of the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer achieved a television audience of more than 750 million.
John Humphrys says the BBC will, however, give Prince William’s expected marriage to Kate Middleton the same level of coverage.
“I suspect we’ll mount a very similar news operation if/when William marries,” the Today presenter tells the Radio Times. (via Telegraph)
