Seems Princess Eugenie’s gap-year hi-jinx have prompted a review of around-the-clock protection for junior members of the royal family. The Sun reports…
4 Comments »Experts believe the bill for ensuring the security of the entire family may have topped the £50million mark. The review will look at where the money is spent and whether some younger family members actually need the current level of protection.
A senior Royal source said: “Few people would begrudge working members of the Royal family adequate security arrangements. However, their is growing unease at the sheer costs involved in offering round-the-clock protection to non-working members of the family.
“The only thing the public see is bodyguards being used as glorified taxi drivers to ferry young members of the family to and from nightclubs.

Princess Eugenie attended Sydney’s V-Festival along with friend Holly Branson reports the Daily Telegraph…Princess Eugenie, sixth in line of succession to the British throne, was a surprise guest, dancing the night away under the guard of several members of the UK Metropolitan Police. The princess secretly flew into Sydney last week, and made a surprise appearance at the music festival with Holly Branson, daughter of Virgin founder Sir Richard.
“I love it here – it’s amazing. I love Sydney. I’m here with my friends.”

Britain’s Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie may appear in a new reality TV show. Several close friends of the young royals – who are the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson – have signed up to star in a British spin-off of Californian teen drama ‘The Hills’. Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson took daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie to the world premiere of The Young Victoria in London last night (4/3/09).
The film stars Emily Blunt & Rupert Friend and is based on the early years of Queen Victoria’s reign and her lifelong love affair with Prince Albert. Sarah helped produce the film and Beatrice has a cameo role in the movie as a lady-in-waiting to her real-life great great great great grandmother. View photos here…

Most teenage daughters wouldn’t be seen dead in the same clothes as their mothers.But it appears Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were taking style tips from their mother as they stepped out at Milan Fashion Week last night.
The trio looked like they had dressed from the same wardrobe as they attended designer Roberto Cavalli’s post-show party wearing little black dresses with plunging necklines.
Leading the way down the red carpet was the 49-year-old Duchess of York, who is an old friend of the Italian designer, in a low cut spaghetti strap dress with a puffball skirt.
Goldsmiths University student Beatrice, 20, was dressed the most modestly of the three with a heart-shaped neckline and capped sleeves, while her 18-year-old sister Eugenie flashed her legs in a T-shirt dress.

After the sobering experience of leaving the keys in the ignition of her BMW, which was then stolen and crashed, Princess Beatrice has decided to give up drinking.‘Beatrice was never a big drinker but she has decided to stop drinking altogether,’ says a friend.‘But it has nothing to do with what happened. She has just decided to get healthy.
‘She was celebrating Eugenie passing her driving test last Tuesday but, while her sister and mother were having a celebratory glass of bubbly, Beatrice refused to have a sip.’
I’m told the history of art student is still hugely embarrassed about the car theft.
‘It was found but it’s a write-off,’ adds the friend. (via Daily Mail)
