Kate Middleton at Concert For Diana

Outraged Palace officials have complained to the BBC over the Concert for Diana broadcast for turning Prince William’s love life into a soap opera.

Senior courtiers went ‘ballistic’ at BBC staff during a debrief of the six-hour live coverage. They believe they turned a celebration of Princess Diana’s life into a mockery-focusing too much on Wills’ rekindled romance.

Prince William’s private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton has complained about the amount of cutaway shots of the army officer and Kate Middleton, both 25. They were particularly angered when they focused on her when Take That sang Back For Good towards the end of the show-referring to the Prince’s on-off romance.

One senior royal source said: “The Palace are hopping mad over this, they won’t let the BBC get the better of them when it comes to the boys personal lives.”

They accuse the broadcaster of turning William’s romance with Kate into a state occasion instead of focusing on what would have been Diana’s 46th birthday.

Prince William’s Romance Rekindled – CBS News (with video)
It was a royal riddle: Did Kate Middleton sitting not with but behind Prince William at the Concert for Diana last weekend mean the relationship was off or back on? Britain’s The Sun Newspaper says the relationship is very much back on. A royal spokesman declined to comment. British gossip columnist Katie Nicholl said that it is important to be careful about speculation because Middleton and the prince have not yet had an official outing as a couple…

Harry: I’m Bullied For Being Ginger – Daily Record
PRINCE Harry has admitted he gets bullied for being ginger and says he needs counselling. The 22-year-old redhead made the revelation to a 14-year-old award winner at the Princess Diana memorial concert. In an interview on US television last month, Harry revealed the childhood nickname given to him by Princess Di was Ginger. His girlfriend of three years, Chelsy Davy, 21, fondly calls him Big Ginger. And the men in his Blues and Royals regiment nicknamed him the Ginger Bullet Magnet – claiming that if he was posted to Iraq he would be picked out as a trophy target by insurgents…

  • William & Kate – Back Together For Good? Posted by BRW on July 3rd, 2007 at 4:59 am

via The Sun – PRINCE William got cosy with Kate Middleton over a candlelit drink after Wembley’s Concert for Diana – then stunned pals by dirty dancing with his old flame.

Kate Middleton and Prince William sip DrinksThe couple, who have battled to keep their renewed relationship secret, threw caution to the wind at the after-show bash.

    A friend said last night:

“The pair went wild when the Bodyrockers’ hit I Like The Way You Move came on. It used to be ‘their song’. Kate was dancing so sexily in front of Wills that chemistry was just oozing off them.

“None of us had ever seen so much electricity between them before. It was as if they had just met and fallen in love for the first time. Wills and Kate couldn’t get enough of each other. It was almost embarrassing to be around them. We all kept saying, ‘Get a room, chaps’.

“They didn’t leave each other’s side for the whole party — and danced together constantly. Wills’ eyes were out on stalks as Kate shimmied seductively up and down his body.

“It was like something out of Dirty Dancing. It is obvious to them now – as it has been to all their mates for ages – that they are made for each other.”

Before taking to the dancefloor the lovebirds slipped away from pals to sip cocktails in a corner.

  • Wills & Kate Spend Evening Together at Clarence House Posted by BRW on July 2nd, 2007 at 6:45 am

Kate and WillsThe Daily Mail is reporting that Prince William and Kate Middleton spent night together on the eve of the Diana Concert!

The couple – who split up in April after four years together – went to extraordinary lengths to cover up the tryst. The revelation comes as William gave the clearest signal to date that he is once again close to Kate by inviting her and her family to sit in the royal box for the Wembley spectacular celebrating his mother’s life.

But in public the couple tried to keep everyone guessing by not sitting together.

William’s behaviour was in stark contrast to that of his brother Prince Harry and girlfriend Chelsy Davy who were pictured flirting and kissing in the front row. Miss Middleton, 25, was two rows from her apparent “ex” in front of 63,000 at the concert for Diana and millions watching on television around the world.

Looking stunning in a white coat dress and high boots, she was also invited to mingle with the performers at the after show party, but left alone.

Officials bluntly refused to discuss William’s private life and the status of his relationship. But one senior royal source said: “They are of course close friends and have remained so since April.

Today it emerged that William and Kate – who have always gone to great lengths to shield their private life even when officially dating – were back to their old cloak and dagger ways. On the eve of the show, Kate left her flat in Chelsea at 9pm and arrived at Clarence House – William’s London home – around midnight.

Her Audi car, which she had left at a Mayfair hotel car park, was collected by an aide and driven into Clarence House, waved through by police on guard at 1.45am.

Reports of the tryst were given credence by William’s decision to put Miss Middleton back in the spotlight by inviting her into the royal box for the high-profile concert. (via Daily Mail)

  • Prince William Worries about Concert Speech Posted by BRW on June 30th, 2007 at 9:53 pm

Prince William has confessed that he is dreading having to make a speech at the Concert for Diana tomorrow. In an interview with Fearne Cotton which was broadcast on BBC One last night, William revealed that he and brother Harry were shocked when they were told that they should deliver a speech at tomorrow’s event.

“We’ll definitely be up at some point giving some sort of speech,” William explained. “It wasn’t something we were contemplating and now we’re like, ahhh… OK, 65,000 people at Wembley and God knows how many people will be watching it on television.”

Prince Harry added: “If it goes wrong it will be very nerve-racking but there’s a lot to look forward to. It’s easy to say we’re nervous beforehand but at the end of the day I hope it’s going to be a really amazing evening.” – via Digital Spy

  • Prince William regrets breaking up with Kate Middleton Posted by BRW on June 29th, 2007 at 7:17 am

Prince William regrets breaking up with Kate Middletonvia The Sun Online

LOVELORN Prince William has begged Kate Middleton to go back to him, The Sun can reveal. He opened his heart to his ex during a secret liaison at Clarence House.

But Kate, 25, has so far refused to rekindle their relationship, saying she was “too badly hurt” by the break-up.

News of William’s U-turn only emerged yesterday when the same source that revealed the split in March spoke exclusively to The Sun. The close friend of the couple insisted it is now William doing all the chasing.

“Wills is very keen, but Kate is unsure. She has been seriously hurt. He must persist and convince her he is serious. William invited Kate to Clarence House to smooth things over. They had a first awkward drink but then talked about their split. He made it obvious that he hasn’t got over her. Kate is in the driving seat. William is trying very hard to win her over.”

News that Wills, 25, had ended his four-year romance with Kate caused shockwaves around the world. They were thought to be about to get engaged. Reports that there had been interference from senior royals were way off mark. He told Kate that they should split because they wanted different things.

But pals say the prince has become increasingly unhappy at the decision he made.

“William said the relationship was too intense. He wanted to live a little. Now he feels he has made a terrible mistake. He has hardly been out and has been feeling increasing depressed without Kate.”

Eventually he persuaded Kate to see him in secret at his London residence. It is understood Kate returned to see William on her own TWICE more before she agreed to join his friends at a mess party on June 9.

The source also revealed Kate had agreed to be William’s guest at Sunday’s Concert for Diana at Wembley.

  • Happy Birthday Prince William Posted by BRW on June 21st, 2007 at 4:13 am

    Prince Williamvia Press Association

Prince William has turned 25 and becomes entitled to part of the inheritance left to him by his mother Diana, Princess of Wales.

The second in line to the throne gains access to the income accrued on the £6.5 million he was left in the Princess’s will.

But sources said that the future King will, for now, not touch the money – estimated by financial experts to be between £250,000 and £300,000 a year.

When Diana died a decade ago, she left an estate of £21 million. More than £8 million was paid in inheritance tax, leaving £12,966,022. It was split equally between William and younger brother Prince Harry, leaving them around £6.5 million each.

Following investment, this is estimated to have grown to around £9 million.

Changes agreed to the will in December 1997 meant that, upon reaching 25, William and Harry are entitled to the whole of the income of their share. Before the age of 25, income can be paid at the trustees’ discretion.

The trustees can pay over capital at any time, but when the Princes turn 30, they can ask for their share of the capital in full. A Clarence House spokesman said: “We don’t discuss Prince William’s private financial arrangements.”

William will spend his birthday training with the Army at Lulworth in Dorset. He already earns around £22,000 as a Cornet in the Blues and Royals and receives money from the Prince of Wales from the Duchy of Cornwall which pays for his accommodation, staff and polo playing.

He is also believed to have access to funds left in trust for him by his great-grandmother the Queen Mother.

The Princess’s estate was made up of stocks and shares, jewellery, her multi-million-pound divorce settlement, dresses and personal items from Kensington Palace.
