Senior members of the Royal Family refused to be photographed by Hello! at Peter Phillips’s wedding on Saturday. Royal groom Peter Phillips quaffed champagne at a boozer with his dad and pals — just 90 minutes before tying the knot. He hired a coach to take his nine-strong party, all in their wedding suits, to the country pub for a final hour as a “free man”…

Palace blames Autumn for Hello! deal, but what was she expected to do?
- Daily Mail
one insider explained: “Hello! got the lot, and the money they paid is some way north of £500,000. “Access on the day for the public and the rest of the Press was woefully limited. That’s nothing to do with it being a ‘private ceremony’, it’s to do with protecting the Hello! exclusive. “It just goes to show that you can buy anything and anybody these days, even the Royal Family.”…

Autumn Kelly and Peter Phillips Wedding at Windsor Castle

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

PHOTO - Official photo from Wedding
The Queen’s eldest grandson, Peter Phillips, married his Canadian bride, Autumn Kelly, at Windsor Castle yesterday. The couple, both 30, exchanged vows in St George’s Cathedral in front of 300 guests including the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The bride wore a dress by Sassi Holford and a tiara borrowed from her new mother-in-law, the Princess Royal.

Prince Harry also attended with his girlfriend Chelsy Davy who, according to a royal source, he introduced to his grandmother for the first time today.

Among the six bridesmaids was the groom’s sister Zara, whose boyfriend, England rugby player Mike Tindall, also attended.

Harry’s brother, Prince William, was in Kenya, where his friend Jecca Craig’s brother Batian was marrying British-born Melissa Duveen. Representing William at Windsor was his girlfriend, Kate Middleton.

The couple were whisked away in a horse-drawn Balmoral Sociable carriage for a reception and dance at Frogmore House, Windsor, which has been lent to them by the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh. (via The Scotsman)

Hello! to get Royal Wedding Photograph Exclusive?

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

There is an intriguing backdrop to today’s royal wedding of the Queen’s grandson Peter Phillips to Canadian PA Autumn Kelly at Windsor Castle.

For after Hello! magazine secured a £500,000 deal with the happy couple, courtiers are nervous about just what role the publication will have at the nuptials.

Normally, for splashing out such a vast sum, the glossy would expect to secure photographs of all the principal figures — in this case, Princess Anne, Prince Philip and the Queen. Should this occur, royal complaints about privacy will begin to sound rather hollow.

Prince William to miss Peter & Autumn’s Wedding?

Friday, May 16th, 2008

PHOTO - William and Kate at Cranwell

Kate Middleton will attend Saturday’s royal wedding alone, while Prince William travels to Africa for another event.

Miss Middleton will represent the Prince at the marriage of the Queen’s eldest grandchild Peter Phillips, while her boyfriend attends a friend’s wedding in Kenya.

Her stand-in role indicates the status Miss Middleton, 26, now enjoys within royal circles, and is likely to fuel speculation that an engagement between the couple may be imminent.

While Miss Middleton sees Peter Phillips marry Canadian-born Autumn Kelly in St George’s Chapel, Windsor, the Prince will travel to an African game reserve for the Masaai-themed wedding of the brother of a former girlfriend, Jecca Craig.

Clarence House refused to comment on the diary clash. However a senior royal source insisted the Prince’s decision to miss the first significant royal wedding since that of the Earl of Wessex in 1999, is not being seen as a snub to the rest of his family.

Relatives and Friends stay mum on Royal Wedding details

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

PHOTO - Autumn KellyMore than 350 guests, including the queen, are expected to attend the wedding at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle and the reception that will follow at the royal estate.

Mingling with the well-heeled and aristocratic wedding guests will be Kelly’s family from Ontario, New Brunswick and the West Island neighbourhood where she grew up.

Her father, Brian Kelly, will be walking her down the aisle. The wedding is the social event of the season not just in England but in Pointe Claire, too.

In the West Island suburbs, where everyone seems to know Autumn Kelly or one of her friends or family members or someone who knows one of her friends or family members, the uninvited are doing the calculations to determine if they are one or six degrees of separation from being seated next to the queen, Prince Philip, Princess Anne - insert the name of your favourite royal…

But as for bona fide details about the wedding - who will be wearing what or sitting where, or what the maid of honour plans to say to her best friend before she formally joins the royal family - that’s another matter.

“I’ve known her forever,” is all Aubie would offer as she walked to her car at the end of the school day one afternoon last week. “I really can’t talk about it right now,” she said. “Maybe later.”

It was the same story when Kitty Kelly answered the door of the family’s home, a two-storey cottage with an above-ground swimming pool in the back yard and a hockey net in the driveway.

“I’ve been asked not to (comment),” she said when asked what she would be wearing and whom she would be sitting next to at the wedding.

Autumn Kelly leaves nothing to chance ahead of Wedding

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

PHOTO - Autumn Kelly and Peter Phillipsminute tweaks are being made to the marquee on the lawns at Frogmore House, and the Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume 2006 is on ice.

Every little detail is being attended to, but then ambitious Autumn Kelly was never going to leave anything to chance when she walked down the aisle with the Queen’s favourite grandson, Peter Phillips.

It is a determination that has taken this charming, working-class girl from a suburban backwater of Canada to the heart of the British Royal Family and proved that nowadays, class, breeding and lack of a title (Kate Middleton, take note) are no barrier to joining the Windsor clan.

Seasoned observers have pointed out that, unlike other royal girlfriends - from the then Sophie Rhys-Jones right up to Kate Middleton and Chelsy Davy - Autumn has, until this week, enjoyed a seamless introduction to royal life.

So, can anything cast even the smallest shadow over next Saturday’s long-awaited nuptials?
