Pink takes on the Royal Family

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Pink has taken on the British royal family in a row over animal rights.

The ‘So What’ singer is livid that neither The Queen nor Prince William have replied to her letters demanding that the royal guards bearskins be replaced with synthetic materials, and that the Prince quit bloodsports.

She said: “It’s a bit rude that they didn’t reply isn’t it? I don’t get why we can’t question people just because of their position in society.

I don’t care if they have a crown. One or two Canadian bears are killed to make each hat and that is totally unnecessary”. (via NME)

British TV presenter, Jeremy Paxman, a self-confessed republican-turned-monarchist, said that the Queen and her family brought out “the worst aspects” of the corporation. “While the BBC does report royal matters pretty straightforwardly, as it should, there is still a fawning taste, a fawning sense to the tone of voice it adopts when dealing with the heir to throne and his family,” he said…

Queen accepting of Kate Middleton’s work choices

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Friends of Kate Middleton have hit back at claims that she is work-shy and revealed that she has been secretly grafting full-time for her parents. Sources close to Prince William’s long-term girlfriend have rubbished reports that the Queen has expressed concern about her lack of a career.

The Queen is also said to have urged her to work for charity to counter the public perception that she is a lady of leisure.

A very well-placed source said: “It is a load of nonsense. Kate has got a job, she is working for her parents full-time.”

Last month the Sunday Express revealed how Kate, 26, had been working for her parents’ mail order company Party Pieces after she was photographed heaving cardboard boxes at the headquarters of the Middletons’ multi-million-pound empire in Reading.

A source close to Kate and William said: “Working for the family business gives Kate the flexibility she needs and keeps her out of the limelight while William continues with his military commitments.

It has never been a case of her being work-shy, it’s just that she is in an awkward position because she knows that if she one day marries William, she will have to give up her career anyway.”  (via Sunday Express)

Kate Middleton’s Mum to join Queen at Royal Ascot?

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Her appearance at a Windsor Castle Garter ceremony was the first formal sign that the Queen is preparing to welcome Kate Middleton officially into the Royal Family.

And now, just two days later, I have news which could indicate Miss Middleton’s romance with Prince William is to step up another gear. According to Ascot sources, Kate’s mother has been invited to the royal box during this week’s race meeting.

Should it take place, it will be the first official encounter between the Queen and her grandson’s possible mother-in-law.

A year ago, Carole Middleton, a former air stewardess, found herself at the centre of an extraordinarily snobbish attack after it was claimed she had used the word “toilet” and uttered the phrase “pleased to meet you” on meeting the Queen.
