Zara Phillips will appear on Strictly Come Dancing

July 7th, 2008

Zara Phillips has agreed to appear in this autumn’s series of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, in a move that is likely to infuriate traditionalists in royal circles.

Miss Phillips, who is granddaughter to the Queen and 12th in line to the throne, has signed an early stage agreement to appear in ballroom dancing contest, to the delight of BBC bosses.

However a source close to Miss Phillips indicated that her involvement with the show may not go down well with everyone in the Royal Family. The source told Sunday Mirror: The Queen may have something to say about Zara appearing on a live TV show every Saturday. Many in royal circles will find it inappropriate.”

But the BBC hope Miss Phillips will boost viewing figures as they go head-to-head with ITV’s popular Saturday night reality contest, The X Factor.

Chelsy’s not Happy with Harry’s Clubbing

July 6th, 2008

Prince Harry’s lover Chelsy Davy walked out on him in a humiliating public bust-up.

The row blew up at a charity polo match just as the prince was about to take the field.

One spectator said: “Chelsy sat there for about two minutes with a face like thunder and then she walked out.”

The spectator added: “He grabbed his phone and started texting like mad but she didn’t surface again and he left the club as soon as he could.”

Last week the couple were said to be arguing again over his bachelor lifestyle as an Army officer.

While Chelsy sticks to her studies at Leeds University, Harry can’t resist going clubbing with his pals.

One friend of Chelsy’s said: “Harry is incorrigible. He is at that age when he likes drinking with his mates and Chelsy will have to resign herself to that or it will be over.”

Royal Courtiers advise No Job for Kate Middleton

July 6th, 2008

Kate Middleton was the subject of much criticism after it was alleged that the Queen had “voiced concern” that Prince William should not announce an engagement to his girlfriend until she had secured herself a full-time job.

Mandrake learns that the claim could not, in fact, be further from the truth. According to a close friend of Kate, the 26-year-old St Andrews graduate has been advised by courtiers not to take any permanent job.

“She’s not working and there are no plans for her to work,” says her chum.

I understand that officials are keen to avoid a similar situation to the “Fake Sheikh scandal”, in which the Earl of Wessex’s wife, Sophie, was accused of exploiting her royal connections to win business for her PR firm.

Kate’s imminent engagement to William, who is on a two-month attachment to the Royal Navy, is widely expected and her only job is taking photographs for her parents’ mail-order company, which provides paraphernalia for children’s parties.

It has also been reported that Kate would work for Mario Testino, but the photographer told me at his Obsessed by You exhibition, at Phillips de Pury & Company, in Westminster: “It’s simply not true. She was never going to work with me.” (via The Telegraph)

Please don’t take after your father, William - Daily Mail
Most of us, when we were 25, were still tempted to think that life was about what one could get away with. Trouble starts, however, when the young man in the case is Prince William and the helicopter belongs to the RAF…

Excerpt from New Prince Harry Book

July 4th, 2008

Prince Harry’s exploits on the frontline in Afghanistan are revealed in this extract from a new book
Harry’s War: The True Story of Prince Harry’s Heroism in Afghanistan by royal watcher Robert Jobson.

“To the fighter pilots and the crews manning spy planes above the battlefields of Afghanistan he was just Widow Six Seven, another radio call sign, a reassuring voice of authority, a brother in arms, a bit of a wag and, in Harry’s case, an incorrigible flirt.

It seemed you could take the boy out of Boujis, his favourite London nightclub, but not take Boujis out of the boy.

Laughter could be heard coming from the control. Much to the amusement of his colleagues, Harry chatted with a female Harrier pilot, Michelle Tompkins, about the snow-covered mountains over which she was soaring and commented on how perfect they would be for a spot of skiing.

Moments later, a separate radio channel crackled into life with Harry’s laughing comrades telling him to get a room if he was planning on pursuing that line of chat.

When Harry upset Chelsy… again - Daily Mail
While his older brother’s romantic life moves inevitably, and a touch predictably, towards an engagement, there is less optimism about Prince Harry’s volatile relationship with Chelsy Davey. Catwalk Kate?

July 3rd, 2008

Prince William’s ladylove Kate Middleton could soon be embarking on a new career as a fashion model-after she was approached by a modeling scout at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday party in London.

At the Nelson Mandela concert in Hyde Park, the stunning Kate caught the eye of a clueless model scout, who told her she had “model potential” before handing her his card.

She was also wooed by a stylist from fashion magazine Wallpaper, who informed her she has “amazing style”.

Kate was dancing and singing along to Simple Minds and Amy Winehouse in the VIP golden circle when she was spotted by the two fashionistas.

“Kate was hanging out with friends, enjoying the band and drinking wine out of pint-size paper cups,” The Daily Express quoted a source, as saying.

“She is amazingly tiny in real life and we were astounded at how slender she is. Kate is tall but has a wasp waist that we thought must make her a size four, or certainly no more than a size six. She’s certainly a head-turner, though.”

“This chap was wandering past with a couple of young, blonde catwalk-model types. He suddenly stopped when he saw Kate and told her he ran his own modelling agency and that she had fantastic cheekbones and a great figure and had great modelling potential,” the source added. The source said: “She smiled and said thanks and he slipped her his card. He really didn’t seem to know it was Kate. Then this other guy went up to her and he knew exactly who she was. He told her he was a stylist for Wallpaper magazine and he loved her cowboy boots and thought she had amazing style.

“He asked if he could take a photo of her for the magazine but she told him she was flattered but wasn’t really supposed to have photos like that taken.” (via ANI)
