Kate Middleton
Born 9 January 1982, Catherine Elizabeth “Kate” Middleton is the current girlfriend of Prince William.
Kate was born in Reading, Berkshire, England and raised in Bucklebury, a village in Berkshire, in the south of England. She attended St Andrew’s School in Pangbourne until she was 13, and then attended Marlborough College in Wiltshire. After passing three A-Levels, Middleton was accepted as a student at the University of St Andrews, in Fife, Scotland.
It was at the University of St Andrews that Kate met Prince William. In 2002, Kate moved into a townhouse in Fife with Prince William, and two others, however it is understood that the relationship between her and the Prince did not develop until late 2003.
The couple was first seen together publicly in April 2004, when British newspaper, The Sun, published photos of them on a skiing holiday in Klosters, Switzerland.
Since then, interest in Kate has grown exponentially, and in 2005, once Kate and Prince William had both graduated from university, speculation that the pair would marry intensified. Kate has been seen at various events also attended by members of the royal family.
Most notably she attended Prince Williams “passing out” ceremony at Sandhurst military academy which was presided over by the Queen in December 2006. She has also recently been granted police protection, which has fuelled speculation that an engagement is imminent.
In late 2006, Kate began working as an accessories buyer assistant with the clothing chain, Jigsaw. She currently resides in a flat in Chelsea, London.
On Saturday 14th April 2007 The Sun newspaper announced that Kate and Prince William had decided to separate. The newspaper reported that the parting was by “amicable agreement”.
A little over a month later rumours started appearing that Prince William was indeed still seeing Kate. The pair both attended the Concert for Diana on July 1st 2007 however they did not sit together.
